Flexera One: A Robust and Reliable Solution for Software Asset Management

  • August 08, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexera One’s strength lies in its robust discovery and normalization capabilities. Compared to other tools I’ve used, it consistently delivers more accurate and comprehensive software identification, which is critical for effective asset management.

I especially value the detailed file evidence it provides, including file paths. This feature is incredibly helpful during audit processes, as it allows for precise tracking and validation of software installations across the environment.

Flexera One makes it easier to maintain compliance and optimize software usage with confidence.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Flexera One is a robust and feature-rich platform, the reporting capabilities within the ITAM and FSM dashboards could be improved—especially for executive-level users. More intuitive visualizations, high-level summaries, and customizable reporting options would make it easier for leadership to quickly interpret key metrics and trends.

The ITV reporting looks fantastic in terms of layout and clarity. I wish similar enhancements could be applied to ITAM and FSM to provide a more consistent and executive-friendly reporting experience across the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the biggest problems it addresses is the complexity of discovering and normalizing software data. Also, the platform’s detailed file evidence, including file paths, is especially beneficial during audit processes. It allows for precise validation of software installations, which streamlines audit preparation and reduces the risk of findings, leading to cost savings.

Powerful Cloud Cost Management Tool with Deep Visibility

  • August 08, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Having worked with two FinOps platforms, I can confidently say Flexera has been a true game-changer. Its powerful features like Tag Dimensions, Rule-Based Dimensions (RBDs), and Showback/Chargeback models provide exceptional visibility into multi-cloud spend. The Cost Explorer enables effective usage tracking, while Budget Alerts and advanced AI/ML-based Forecasting support proactive cost control.

Flexera's support for custom policies and shared cost allocation has helped us tailor reporting for both technical and business stakeholders. We've built over 150 Power BI dashboards, integrated with Spot Ocean, and utilized container recommendations to optimize customer environments. While there’s room for improvement in the UI and forecast range, Flexera remains one of the most reliable cloud cost optimization solutions we've used.
What do you dislike about the product?
Every FinOps tool has its pros and cons, but what stands out with Flexera is its commitment to continuous improvement and integration of the latest technologies—an approach that consistently benefits our customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Flexera One helps us gain clear visibility into multi-cloud spend, allocate costs accurately using Tag and Rule-Based Dimensions, and optimize resources with features like Budget Alerts and Container Recommendations. It supports our FinOps goals by improving cost accountability and enabling proactive financial decisions.

Flexera One can have a steep learning curve, especially for new users unfamiliar with IT asset management or FinOps practices.

FlexeraOne - a SAM tool that has really evolved in recent years.

  • August 08, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Industry leading SAM tool that has really evolved in recent years. The SaaS management and Technology Intelligence Platform capability is really leading the way in terms of the non-traditional Software Asset Management practices. Whilst there's been a long list of enhancements the overall UI remains intuitive and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can lag at times, especially the newly introduced PowerBI within TIP. The Power BI implementation does need some enhancements in terms of performance and feature set, but I'm sure this will improve over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Audit defence ready for a selection of vendors.
Better understanding of SaaS Usage - early days with this though.
Integration of CMDB data within FlexeraOne.
Enhanced reporting requirements

Flexera One

  • August 08, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Flexera one as our Asset management tool for some time.
I have worked on SNOW, ServiceNow , Aspera(USU) and ivanti but Flexera is easily a cut above the rest in terms of pure software asset management capabilities. The recent merger of SNOW and Flexera will surely bring more visibility and clarity around the SaaS space as well. Our organisation have been part of the EAP program for SNOW - Flexera SaaS and it surely looks promising in terms of combining the capabilities of Flexera and SNOW.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI could be a bit better and learning curve could be long for a new user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking our compliance and Asset visibility.

Reporting capabilities improve compliance and flexibility exceeds expectations

  • January 23, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I have used it at multiple companies. Primarily, we use the tool to ensure that we're compliant with all the vendors. The particular company I’m working for now is just for IBM. There are other team members who handle other manufacturers. Flexera One is great. It helps us keep an eye on our compliance. When we're audited, Flexera One's reports have been approved by IBM. We don't have to use ILMT, so it's been very helpful.

What is most valuable?

I like the way that Flexera connects our contracts to our purchases. It gives us the flexibility when creating the license records for each of the applications. I also appreciate the reporting features that it has.

Flexera includes what I call canned reports, straight out of the box, but they also offer flexibility in creating custom reports. This allows us to provide management or whomever with more detailed information.

What needs improvement?

The mainframe need improvement. Flexera One does not have an agent for it, so it can't report on mainframe usage. Several people have suggested it as an improvement. One feature I would like to see in the tool is the ability to handle everything in one place. If not, it is what it is.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used the solution for 12 to 13 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would give stability a good nine out of ten. The stability of the cloud version, which is what I'm currently using, is almost always reliable. Occasionally, there will be a problem when they push out an upgrade, and we aren't able to reconcile the databases every day. However, it usually resolves within a day once they identify and fix the problem.

How are customer service and support?

I have used customer service in the past; not in my current role. I would rate it a nine out of ten. This was back when I used the on-premise product, and they were prompt in getting back to us. Most of the correspondence was via email, which was okay.

Occasionally, a call would have to be set up if they weren't understanding what was going on. Most of the support I dealt with at the time was in England, so we had to have calls in the morning. That was the only inconvenience.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used other solutions. HP Service Desk had a product, and there was another one that I used minimally. The other one is pretty big right now, or it used to be Snow, but then Flexera took over.

How was the initial setup?

How easy or hard the implementation depends on the setup. If you have it set up on-premise, it's complex and takes weeks to get everything ready. Flexera One, which is the cloud version, has a minimal setup.

What about the implementation team?

You need to have some IT infrastructure at the server levels because we have to work with Flexera for all the connections. This includes integrating with SMS or SCCM, or whatever you call it, and any other reporting pieces you want the Flexera One tool to include.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The setup cost has changed a lot over the years, and I have not been involved with the pricing for six years. In the beginning, when I first became involved with it, I thought some of the pricing was a bit high. They've restructured how it's licensed, making it more fair.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend it highly. It's the best thing I've seen, so I give it a ten out of ten.
