Overall Satisfied with MySQL

  • May 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Help and Support,
Easy to Setup,
Scaleable,
Works well with the following - Apache/Tomcat - Oracle WebLogic - JAVA, PHP, JSP, Perl.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the bells and whistles of the larger DB solutions are missing. Examples of this include some types of table encryption, solutions like data vaulting, and utilisation of an entire disk for MySQL (not like some DBs that can do file/disk management instead of the OS e.g Oracles ASM). You will also find some types of index and certain forms of partitioning are missing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backups/Restore - Personally I am not a great fan of the backup/restore features built in to MySQL. I have found they can take a long long time to import/export a table with many many millions of rows of data.

MySQL is great from a developmental prospective but I really think people can benefit if they have GUIs and other tools so more people can use it but other than that it works. Its harder to find vulnerabilities in the new versions!

Reliable MySQL

  • April 28, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As an open source database, the support community online is not only alive and well, but very strong and helpful. There is a very large number of support documentation as well as various management and development tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the extra features of the larger database solutions are missing in MySQL, such as data vaulting, some index types and partitioning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used MySQL as the default database system in all out user management solutions. Because it is feature rich, fast and easy to setup and quick to use, it is ideal for rapid development.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
MySQL is under a GPL licence and as such this has huge cost savings compared to other solutions.
MySQL was well suited for developing in Lean/Agile software development environments as changes can be made quickly without being over complicated to implement. Its solid and reliable - overall I would highly recommend it.

MySQL - the only database manager you need.

  • April 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
MySQL, for me is one of the best, and easy to use programs I have ever used. The program is widely supported accross nearly all platforms possible, and is user friendly and very organized which is a definite must in my opinion.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much to dislike about MySQL. In my experience, I have never found a hitch or complication using it once, except this one time it was buggy and I had to downgrade it to fix the problem, but in the process lost access to certain features that were released in later releases of MySQL.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The program is a great solution for storing a large amount of data! We used to have a problem of losing data on a daily basis due to data not being stored properly, but with MySQL it solves everything so we no longer have to worry about that anymore.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Personally, I would definitely recommend that you used MySQL. The easibility, availability, and accessibility of the product outweighs its competition, hence me recommending it as it can be used within any company and circumstance, whether it be small or big - MySQL is the solution for you.
