Easy to use, intuitive for problem solving with large data sets in a manufacturing environment
What do you like best about the product?
MySQL offered many options critical for database management, backup, replication, and customer service is top notch compared to other companies I've worked with.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really can't find anything I dislike about the many products I use from this company. It is open source so it's highly compatible and easy to integrate. Security features aren't as solid as Oracle, but it has built in authentication. Also, timestamps are a little finicky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This product is not only a DBA's dream come true, but it has stood the test of time for storing large amounts of data and handling memory use issues. Great for data analytics as well.

For the pricing and customer support, it's worth it for all server and database needs.
Free, Portable, Easy to Use database server
What do you like best about the product?
first of all, it's FREE! Second of all, it's not a big installation which consumes a lot of your disk space, the service is up and running right after installation, best choice if you need a portable database server to bring with you anywhere you go
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a little bit tricky sometimes when you try to troubleshoot a SQL error message since it won't say too much detail, just tell you around where there is a syntax error, check the manual. If it can be more accurate to say exactly where it's wrong, it will be better

We use MySQL as our training databases when we do our product trainings to the customers. With full function database server, we have it installed on every trainer's laptop, so even they go onsite, they don't have to login to the VPN to the office database, everything on their local machine, fast and easy

Great way to save money/cost effective. It has a great performance and scalable as well.

Commercial customers have to pay but it usually not the best to have for the large size database for big companies. It also does not support key procedures in lower versions.

Helps to resolve the slow performing SQL queries that are hard to identify using some other database tools. It's simplified way of installing has also been helpful.

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle in the past. Recently for my latest project I decided to go with MySQL because it was free. I have been able to do what I needed with MySQL without needing to learn much as the SQL language is very standardized. MySQL Workbench also is easier to use than SQL Server Management Studio. It is also supported on more operating systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
MySQL does not support data partitions. Scalability is limited to the size of a single server. You need a server for each set of data files. It also doesn't support role based security.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to deploy the database to multiple servers on different operating systems with nearly the same installation procedure. The product is well supported on the Internet which makes solving any problems extremely easy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it for small to medium sized projects. There is also MariaDB which is based on MySQL.
Easy to query
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to query , faster relational database and easy to learn

Sometimes gets too much on setup, configuring it and thay mysql.sock error is pain

Amazing . It stores a lot of databases, easy to connect with odbc, like python java
