MySQL best of opensource
What do you like best about the product?
There are a lot of apps that use MySQL, easy to setup, manage and connect from different apps. Easy to backup and recover.
What do you dislike about the product?
Char conversions when using other than UTF-8. Manipulation of media objects (Audio, video, images). Backup not part of the system, need to use third part to make it automatic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We run most of our systems in MySQL. Sales, accounting, web pages, POS, HR.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Free and easy to use.

MySQL for Websites
What do you like best about the product?
It gives business owners options for their data driven websites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as easy to maneuver as traditional SQL applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Finding content data. E-commerce needs. And customer service inquiries.
The best free database solution.
What do you like best about the product?
I'm not a complete expert when it comes to databases, but I've been using MySQL for about 4 years now and I've not had an issue, and it has worked really well for satisfying my needs. MySQL is great especially if are new to learning databases and you're looking to develop websites that requires the use of a database.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compromise on the Security, but I haven't faced any problems so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CRUD operations, web development is what I use it for. It's stable and does the job very well.

I like the simplicity of the tool. It is easy for beginners. Best DB for any proof of concept, easy to create and turnaround time is fast.

Nothing much. It is clear in what it is doing, May be add more features for enterprise wide DB.

We use this mostly for POC projects. Since we different use DB product we were not able to use.

It has all features requires and MySQL updates based on user community requests.

Some time too many updates which are not useful to everyone

Licensing. Easy to get, install and work with. HUGE community of users who are usually very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as functional as other DBMS systems in this space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For custom built internal apps it's very useful. If you want something easy to spin up and work with, especially for internal web apps or reporting functions and don't want to hassle with the licensing issues of MS or Oracle, this is a great resource. Not as functional as those others, but more than adequate for most uses.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to develop an inhouse app for use in your business, this is a great place to start. I was able to build an image catalog server at work that made my boss very happy. Very little expense involved.

The software immediately prompts for syntax errors so you can correct any mistakes at that very step

The root password needs to be remembered, also installation is a tedious process. I find it cumbersome to some extent

We use it majorly during application design for database creation and management. The benefit is that it is easy to create the tables etc
Having 5 years of experience in MySQL
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using MySQL from last 5 years and I would like to use this software for all the application where data connection is required. This is the user friendly database and easy to manipulate and maintain the queries.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have been using MySQL for my all applications So no dislike from my side as of now

Maintaining huge data through MySQL as a back end process and it’s easy to understand and manipulation is very simple.
