Best Open Source Database
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to get started with a database. Simplicity in Feature implementation like replication and storage engines is the best part. SQL is pretty simple to play with in mysql. I have been using mysql for past 11 years and have always enjoyed working with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limitations in community version. even though mysql is open source but features like PAM authentication is only available to enterprise mysql.

Scalability and cost effectiveness without compromising on performance

MySQL is scaleable and can be used on different platforms
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that Oracle MySQL is an excellent choice for multi-platform environments makes it a lot more desirable than SQL Server. It is as capable and the performance is on par with any other database in existence today.
What do you dislike about the product?
Porting a MySQL application to Microsoft SQL Server, or to a competing SQL database engine, requires a significant amount work. SQL Server is backward compatible, MySQL in comparison not so much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a giant retail company that operates thousands of stores throughout America and many more abroad. We use MySQL to manage active store information, among other things. I have realized that SQL in MySQL workbench makes it very easy for us to work with our stores data/database. It is highly customization and the UI is extremely flexible.

It's styntax is very simlar to other databases

It should improve it's product mysqlworkbench i'ts too slow or support others like HeidiSQL

What do you like best about the product?
I like that MySQL is approachable by users starting with database development.
What do you dislike about the product?
At this point I have not had any issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to house company data for our comany products with this database system. It has offered open source advantages over more tradition proprietary database solutions.

An amazing value. Easy to install, manage and support.

there is nothing I dislike about the product.

Our ecommerce platform runs on MySQL Server. It does a great job at a great price point.
The best SQL Database out there for majority of workloads. Period.

I not only like the database but also the free tools that come with it. Even the documentation and general support available from online communities is superb

I do not have anything to complain right now.

What do you like best about the product?
MySQL is like the GMC of databases.It's everywhere, it's easy to work on, and it's easy to find people who know how to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
MySQL is still clunky. You need to live in the command line. It doesn't abstract away the operating system enough.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rarely is MySQL used for any reason other than it's bundled with the product you're already using, like WordPress.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're thinking about MySQL and you don't really know much about relational databases, back up. And if you're looking for a relational database option you should also be considering NoSQL options. If you don't know about that, back up.

What do you like best about the product?
MYSQL has made it possible for our Tribe to use and store water quality data and also share it with the EPA, and I've worked with technicians at USET to have it installed and now it's running fine and we are able to manage our data.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get a little technical, but that's why I had technicians from USET to help me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides the platform we needed to install and manage our WQX database and submit our water quality data to the EPA. It makes it a lot easier to share data than other platforms.

Great open-source platform for SQL table management across applications.
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to pick up for someone with cursory or no SQL experience. The amount of online learning material makes this a simple investment for anyone looking to utilize databases in their projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting ODBC connectors and other plugins to cooperate with third-party programs when you're trying to pass SQL data between them can be a hassle depending on system infrastructure. Getting appropriate information on this was a bit harder than learning about the product itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MySQL provided a great framework for our organization to convert large-N datasets from XLS/CSV into a format we could pass on to our colleagues across the nation for statistical analysis in SPSS and other programs. It provided flexibility and ease of access that we weren't able to achieve with less centralized solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's not perfect, but it's close enough. You can't go wrong here.
