Excellent
What do you like best about the product?
MYSQL has made it possible for our Tribe to use and store water quality data and also share it with the EPA, and I've worked with technicians at USET to have it installed and now it's running fine and we are able to manage our data.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get a little technical, but that's why I had technicians from USET to help me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides the platform we needed to install and manage our WQX database and submit our water quality data to the EPA. It makes it a lot easier to share data than other platforms.
amazing tool for simple PHP applications
What do you like best about the product?
data organization is good! easy to use and teach!
What do you dislike about the product?
NoSQL is trending now and graph db is not supported
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to make simple PHP based automation applications
Recommendations to others considering the product:
better support graph db!
Great open-source platform for SQL table management across applications.
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to pick up for someone with cursory or no SQL experience. The amount of online learning material makes this a simple investment for anyone looking to utilize databases in their projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting ODBC connectors and other plugins to cooperate with third-party programs when you're trying to pass SQL data between them can be a hassle depending on system infrastructure. Getting appropriate information on this was a bit harder than learning about the product itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MySQL provided a great framework for our organization to convert large-N datasets from XLS/CSV into a format we could pass on to our colleagues across the nation for statistical analysis in SPSS and other programs. It provided flexibility and ease of access that we weren't able to achieve with less centralized solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's not perfect, but it's close enough. You can't go wrong here.
Great database to use as backend for smaller websites
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, fairly easy to learn MySQL scripts. And also the ability to integrate this within websites (e.g. through PHP).
What do you dislike about the product?
For visual access to a database I have always used other tools like PHPmyAdmin tools, I would have like to use native apps on my desktop to access the database. Do not know if these are available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Running a back-end databased for a website, analysing large amounts of data by linking multiple databases.
Just simple "databasing"
What do you like best about the product?
-Simple
-Cheap
-Goes to the point
-Easy setup

-Easy setup
What do you dislike about the product?
well, I don't think you should use MySQL for big databases.
The performance can be very poor.
Anyway, with proper tunning, you can get it working.
The performance can be very poor.
Anyway, with proper tunning, you can get it working.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly to support web applications with a database
MySQL is the free DB that you should use!
What do you like best about the product?
MySQL is a SQL based relational database that's now owned by Oracle (eww). It's still free (community edition), supports all of the fancy things SQL Server supports as well as clustering!
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish MySQL would support replication across availability zones in AWS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Persistence of user information for cloud enterprise software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
1) Make sure that your uses are fulfilled by a relational database and not a key/value store.
User-friendly SQL tool
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to lay down your projects visually with MySQL workbench a nice GUI makes working with MySQL a breeze. Its speed and stability are great too!
What do you dislike about the product?
Though I don't dislike anything about MySQL, I must admit the learning curve was a bit steep at the beginning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to integrate a full-featured SQL engine in a number of data mining applications. MySQL provides a fairly intuitive way to organize large datasets to be called later on in machine learning applications.
MySQL review
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use, and I prefer the MySQL language.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike. It's somewhat limited in it's capabilities, but that's not why you're using this. But not even very limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data queries from large data sets
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It depends on your needs and language preference. Do your research, but don't hesitate if this comes out on top.
Great RDBS platform, but really stagnated once Oracle bought it
What do you like best about the product?
Still easy enough to use after all these years.
What do you dislike about the product?
After Oracle acquired them, progress and feature growth died. MariaDB seemed to pick up where that acquisition left off
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MySQL is naturally the backend for a few WordPress sites we have (though we almost went with MariaDB out of spite against Oracle ; )
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you just need a regular WordPress or Drupal or conventional website with lower traffic, MySQL is still a viable option. But if you need to scale and provide high availability, then you need to look into MariaDB or even AWS Aurora. I'd also recommend using AWS RDS and creating clusters.
Great sql database
What do you like best about the product?
Been using MySql for years for website projects. Easy to use and great documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes needed to change configuration files for simple things to work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to develop rapid websites with a full database backend using this product.
