Easy to configure. Stable product
What do you like best about the product?
I like the best it's maturity as a product. As well as easy to configure and setup. It's always fast to do the job using MySQL.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've noticed that queries are not that fast with dataset is large (over 100 million records). Though it's a good choice as a smaller database.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We keep this database to operate with 'current' data, so volume is not that high.

MySQL is free. Also, it's very popular so if you have a question it's easy to find an answer on google.

As for databases there is not much not to like. The syntax is a little different that other databases but doesn't take too long to learn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps us to save and process data that is used in our marketing automation scripts.

Great option if you are using PHP. It's free so give it a try.
Easy, flexible, ligth and fast DBAs
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using MySQL for years now to design and deploy dynamic websites and online software. It is one of the easiest and best database systems I have used. It does have a few quirks and things that can get a little frustrating from time to time, but all in all it is an amazing system and I don't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Because it is free there really isn't a lot of direct support for it. That said there is a huge community of users and it is normally very easy to find an answer to question or get help when you need it. This is truly one of the best database systems you can use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unless you want to be working in a command prompt you need to install 3rd party software like PHP MyAdmin to administrate the database; that said most hosting companies install these by default for you already.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
First off it is free and open source

Easy to setup, low cost, good performance.

There isn't much to dislike. It is a good database product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for any solution that doesn't require MS-SQL or Oracle. It is on our future roadmap to replace any other database as available.

It is easy to switch too, and cost is an huge advantage

Free LIcense. Excellent performance. Easy to integrate with any programming language or application. Binlog tool to track the data loss and history of data. Inbuilt JSON engine. Nothing less than MS SQL server.

There is nothing to dislike about My SQL server apart from the premium features which comes only with purchased version.

We are able to use MY SQL server as a trusted database for some of our applications.

If you are looking for a open source relational databases for your production , please go for it.
Simple, but not very scalable

MySQL is incredibly simple to set up and use.

It's complete lack of scalability for large enterprise projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provides us with a database solution for our smaller more customer specific projects. Takes little to no effort to implement.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're building a system that will eventually need to scale up, MySQL is definitely not the choice for you. Go with something more scalable and modern. If you insist on relational databases, I'd say you should go with PostgreSQL which is a lot easier to scale in the future. If not - then go with MongoDB. If you're dealing with a small project then yeah, MySQL is fine.

The user friendliness of the workbench interface is amazing and the autocomplete feature for most purposes is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The modeling part could be enhanced with better graphics and control.

- The development is not community driven, so releases/updates are slow

We are a design agency and build a lot of websites for our customers. MySQL has been the de-facto database in our organization, ranging from simple websites to retail/wholesale websites that hold large databases.
Benefits:
1. No additional cost to us/developers and to our customers
2. Scales very well for most common use-cases
3. Available as default database in any web hosting provider
4. Most famous CMSes like WordPress, Drupal use MySQL. We do not have to convince our customers much on using this database.

MySQL is effective for transactional and structured data. If your data lacks structure or changes frequently, consider other databases.
SQL server is user friendly
What do you like best about the product?
SQL server is a DBMS software and can be installed either on windows or linux operating system. SQL server stores the data in the form of databases. It has free updates, cheaper in cost , free technical support ans easy usage, easy integration with programming languages
What do you dislike about the product?
I absolutely love it , no dislikes. Some times the sql server gets struck then we need to restart our pc and that occurs very rarely other than that i really find it user friendly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
i work as a DBA for my company and my responsibilities include database health check and monitoring. Backups, recovery and restores, SQL clustering and always on availability, Data tuning, service packs, SQL profiler tool.
