Best relational database on the market
What do you like best about the product?
MySQL is an industry standard for relational databases.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes updates are slow to come and it takes a while for mysql to grasp new ideas that competitors seem to understand quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business application needs an RDB, MySQL provides that RDB. Simple.

High traffic transaction applications. The DB is very stable and consistent in its performance.

The best part of using MySQL has always been that it is very robust and can provide almost all features if you don't have a very high needs. Best for developing any open source project. Availability of MySQL workbench adds the charm.

I dislike the speed at which the features are released.

Most of my open source projects are using MySQL as back end database.

This is an user friendly RDBMS I have used so far.

When the volume of data increases to TB, I could see some slowness while indexing the data.

This is because MySQL, works with a centralized data management system, which allows changes to be made in a single file and is published in the entire data structure that is shared in the network. That's why I like this tool as a civil engineer I saw in my career programming and I'm consistent with the tool

Greater sensitivity to variations in electrical transmissions and flucutations. Less access levels. It does not work properly with large volumes of information. For medium volumes, the Microsoft Sql engine is used, without major traumas and exceeding performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Handling large amount of data, data inumerations, large reports, creation of tables, import and export data table, integrates a data information system and data manipulations since wordpress uses it as its main data manager.

The queries are easy to understand. There are many help section on google to help if you are stuck with finding a correct query.

there are some limitation on database structures. The unix support isn't great.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using MySQL for developing dynamic and secure websites for schools and other educational institutions as a freelancer. I used the MySQL with PHP based web applications which utilised Transaction systems as well storing large amounts of encrypted user data.

This product is recommended for beginners who are new to SQL Database because of various factors such as Open Source, Ease of Use and Integration.
Reliable and almost bullet proof
What do you like best about the product?
I like how reliable MySQL is, Let me tell you a story. I have several clients running this and one morning about 5:30 AM one of them calls me saying their server is down. I stop by on my way into the office to find that the entire RAID on the server has failed (no notifications as the person who set it up didn't do that for some reason). So I get to work putting new drives in, re-installing the OS and I pull the data from a backup (Always have a backup!). The SQL team then got to work putting all the pieces back together again, they contacted me later that night and needed about 15 different files pulled from the backup again and I got it to them, they pieced it together. From that experience alone I knew how strong, reliable and bullet proof MySQL is.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly I wish it had the same type of tools that MSSQL has, Nothing beats studio manager from Microsoft from my experience. I know there are plenty of admin tools that are available for MySQL but I"ve not seen them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage several clients that running clinical data in mysql. The servers are the least problem causing part of the whole setup, it just works.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're good with SQL give it a shot, it's been rock solid but so has the MS SQL implementations that we have.

This is an amazing option for every kind of requirements, no matter if you are in the Oil & Gas business or starting your own software development you can use MySQL. Also, you can choose between a free GPU license supported by a huge community or for an affordable price the support of one of the biggest in Silicon Valley and with probed experience on DataBase: Oracle Corporation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even if you're upset to start your project is better to invest some time in the beginning, setting up all the features. By default, this features could be insecure for your system. Also if you are starting you need to read and find out some information because could seem not intuitive, but don't worry, then you'll like this application. Is like everything, you at the beginning you should Study!

With MySQL, we improve the response time by generating easy solutions for internal web developments, as surveys, users request and schedules.
