Fast for unindexed lists
What do you like best about the product?
Speed of data retrieval for non indexed listings. The differences in SQL from MS SQL are slight and easy to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
Analyzing performance of complex queries to maximize index use can take a bit of time until you get the hang of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data duplication.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Navicat for administration. Easily backup and restore.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the most the fact that it's free, versatile and multi-platform. Along with some sync tools (SJA for example) ,we manage MySQL in multiple locations with synchronisation of records and stock management across various servers and company offices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Could do better with database integrity assurance as well as more security features. Also deployment automation would be a plus, although there are some tools available from third-parties.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Small footprint, great value for deploying in microservices and multiple platform - a must for our business. We're running point-of-sale systems in various locations as well as synchronising stock records across locations to provide near-real-time availability for our e-commerce websites.

If you need a fast, versatile, multi-platform relational database system, MySQL has been for many years the choice for starters as well as advanced users. I also recommend using SJA for synchronisation and replication jobs.
Low cost reliable and lightweight database in the market
What do you like best about the product?
the admin part of mysql is easy to manage.It is a developer friendly structural database. Robust drivers are available for connecting to mysql database
What do you dislike about the product?
the support for stored procedure, functions are not that great. the syntax is different when compared to oracle.
there is no concept of Roles in mysql and hence granting privileges is in admin level or object/request based.

I use community version of Mysql as a relational database in my web application. backing up of data is very easy in mysql
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If using enterprise version, can make use of additional plugins, query caching and SSL support which is available.
Make sure to use the tools like generating ER diagrams, backing up data etc.

MySQL is a super efficient relational database that is currently being used by organizations. It is light weight and has better performance than other DBs

I like the performance and manageability of MySQL database.

Our OLTP system and customer information.

What do you like best about the product?
In our opinion, it is the best database engine. In fact, its versatility is undeniable. It's no wonder that it is used in the largest content management software like Wordpress.
What do you dislike about the product?
The less favorable aspect of this tool is the difficulty in obtaining support directly from the manufacturer. Most of the time, we have to resort to blogs or forums on the subject to solve problems or clear up some doubts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Without MySQL, it would be more difficult to keep the company running. We would have to opt for other solutions that require more financial resources.

More support for the end user. For example, through a chat system.

For me is a best relational database for novel users. It grows in the good way, and it is very accesible for developers.

Maybe the administration of tables could be better. I would like to have the possibility of copy a database or table directly as a tar.gz

Easy to start for databases
What do you like best about the product?
its so simple to start with as a beginner in databases. You will find lots of sources about that and gonna get design database tables quick.

It is a little slow and not capable of many features as newer databases are.

The fact a software of this calibre is available without initial cost still astounds me. Many of the features you want/need in a relational database server are available.

Lack of documentation on some of the utilities and more advanced features/functions.

Many of our websites utilize MySQL for content management.

Being it is free, there is little to get started. I highly recommend it to replace any software you are currently paying for.
