GitLab: The best SCM and CI Tool
What do you like best about the product?
We are using GitLab CI for almost 4 years now, It's the best tool for source code management and CI service. We are using a single CI configuration for the test, build and deployment of the application from different branches. GitLab provides preconfigured runner but we are using our runner to make the builds faster. We are storing the artifacts like scan reports in the GitLab itself which is a great feature to track the status of security checks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't this there's anything to dislike about GitLab but recently we struggled a lot while configuring the EC2 based runners with auto-scaling features. This is simply because the documentation is not sufficient. Another issue we faced was that the default GitLab runners are very slow as compared to custom runners.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using GitLab to keep the code and the pipeline on the same platform. This gives the DevOps team and the developers a clear vision of the code and the deployments from a single dashboard. Developers can see the error in the case of deployment failure, the DevOps team can access see the deployment status and issues and security can see the security report and all of these available on a single dashboard.

Navigation is bit slow and it's needs to be improved

Gitlab is very comfortable with coding editors like visual studio, easy to push and pull code.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes while pushing the code for auto-deployment, get a lot of pipeline errors. Then again use to run that manually.

Day-to-day coding push-pull and coordination with team members.

It is easy to manage and configure. My mostly projects are on gitlab.

Nothing like to dislike this. Its a good one

When you cant trust other hosting parties like amazon or google for hosting you code somewhere Gitlab is your solution

Simple to use and easy to navigate. Very powerful. Solves most of the purpose

Very tight coupling with AWS. Very difficult to configure other solutions like Akamai.

We use git lab for version control, continuous integration, and deployment.

It is good versioning system, pull/ push and merge request for our code is quick, fast and secure. I love the hook integration, resolving conflict.

There is not much to love, everything is good, the interface is different than github

We share code, do collaboration and quick for sharing todo's before merging. I find it useful
