Outstanding platform for DevOps development

What do you like best about the product?
GitLab provides just about everything that software development team would need to develop according to DevOps principles. I love that they're continuing to roll out innovative functionality to make it a truly end-to-end tool. It's so much easier than trying to maintain a gaggle of separate services.
What do you dislike about the product?
GitLab's pricing at the highest end is pretty insane, and some of their truly interesting features, like static analysis, are stuck there. It would be nice if it had a system for sending out alerts based on certain events - similar to Phabricator's "Herald" system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I started off on the IT team at a software development company. Our developers had cobbled together a complicated workflow comprised of many tools. We wanted something more straightforward for our needs, and GitLab was it.

We've been able to do things with GitLab that even our software engineers haven't been able to do with their more traditional workflow - with a big focus on CI/CD pipelines courtesy of GitLab CI.

I'm hoping to eventually convince them to switch over to GitLab.

What do you like best about the product?
Every time I think of a program that I need gitlab has it. Plus it's just fun to browse and look for new stuff. I love gitlab.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the build descriptions are very vague. Like they forget not everyone is a computer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Every time I need software and don't have time to shop gitlab has me covered. Great selection for every platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be prepared to spend some time looking for new cool stuff.

Great for some uses, mediocre for others

What do you like best about the product?
The pipelines visualizations are amazing, and really help to enable a consistent CI/CD model. I like the way that it's very easy to set "dedicated approvers" for certain projects, to prevent other teams from breaking services they are less familiar with.
What do you dislike about the product?
The issues/wiki systems are garbage, and should be replaced by Atlassian products for any company that is serious about being a tech player.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having our deploys/repos/cicd processes synced in one place is very nice. On merge requests, being able to see that a service deployed successfully before approving is a huge benefit that we didn't have before.

Gitlab repository review

  • December 04, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very good source control repository system with functionality of collaboration with team and project management. Interactive User interface with editing function for different types of files. Code can be shared among team members and it also so different code commits along with changed code. It has version wise code . From a master branch different branches can be created and merged as well. It also indicates conflicts while merging the code. Rich in terms of community support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Code conflict while committing and pushing the code is a tedious job. The functionality of code merging should be improved in the web version of git lab. The notification time should be improved regarding different activities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Source control for our project, along with maintenance of code. We are keeping different libraries on the repository and maintaining previous stable versions of the entire project. Managing issues along with collaboration.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very good version control for source code along with functionality of code review and collaboration makes it perfect choice for working on a project in collaborative manner. It also integrate with other software.

What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab enables and secures information backup. It helps to monitor the progress of the project. Efficiently cooperates and shares. Gets quick and easy user interface to grasp what's next. Jenkins CI / CD interface is easy. It's nice to build a click repository and branch. One of the great features of the branch is the branch lock mechanism, which can not be passed to other developers. He has a task manager for himself.
What do you dislike about the product?
Further free ideas can be saved in the storage space. I notice no other gitlab annoyance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is awesome and easy to integrate Gitlab with others. It works with a minimum instrument. We can create a token, and this token has its own read-write permission. Gitlab CI / CD implementation is excellent. Configuring notification is easy to set up. Gitlab is freely used most importantly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is the best way to manage projects but you need to purchase a paid version if you want to store numerous projects.
