Analyst & Designer Perspective

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to pull internal and external data sources together. Create your own computed fields and tables. Works really well with large datasets. Design features and options are fantastic. They have really thought through the bulk of formulas that would be needed for most use case scenarios, including those for more granular and rich data purposes like regression analysis. Ease of use has been really important for our user base, and Sisense makes this really simple via integration of Single Sign-On, default filters, pulse alerts, reporting options, and more. More than anything, customization has been big for us. The ability to change everything from our elasticube setup to creating random test dashboards or new visualizations of the data to potentially roll out to our system, Sisense gives us complete freedom to work with our data in whatever way makes the most sense for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
New releases tend to have a lot of bugs to work out, so we usually end up waiting a while to upgrade, and even with waiting, we still usually have some fallout that tends to impact at least one of our data connections to some extent. That fallout usually requires a few weeks minimum of trying to resolve the connection issue, and getting our data to line back up.

We have also found a couple of very random instances with the pre-built functions, where they don't actually work the way they should, and upon submitting a support ticket, support confirming they duplicated the issue and agree it doesn't perform the function it should, all that we have been told is that it is in someone else's hands now and when they can get to it (if it's important enough) they will try to resolve the issue. But interestingly enough, the function (that doesn't perform the function it should perform) isn't removed from the functions list in the design/admin view.

It would also be great if Sticky filters was an option with the regular license, and not an add-on. This should just be a general feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a franchise system across the entire US and it can be difficult to provide 1-on-1 personalized training to each staff member in our system who needs to, not only access all of the different web sources and databases that we use, but also understand what the data means and make quality business decisions from that data. Using Sisense allows us to provide all of that data in a single place (instead of eight different browser tabs). It is up-to-date, easy to interpret, and easy to create reports to share with their team members. Usage Analytics has also been really great for our internal team, because it lets us know what dashboards our users are engaging with most and least, which helps us understand what data that find useful, and where we may need to change how we are visualizing the data, or what data we are providing our external teams.

What do you like best about the product?
The product is very easy to implement and create dashboard quickly. Support team is extremely knowledgeable and responsive to issues that arise with the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
None that I can think of at this moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently we are using Sisense for all of our Financial reporting bringing together Sales, Payroll and CRM data. Soon we will be pulling in other data streams and building out the product to become our overall "One Stop Shop" reporting tool for the company.

Previous On-prem User - Now Cloud User - Love it Even More

  • June 24, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dashboard Ease of Use for Designers
Intuitive Filters for internal Users and Customers
SQL Language Support in Elasticube Designer
Support for DB2 Connections (over JDBC)
Community User Forum
Add-on Support (with a ton of pre-built available either from sisense or the user community)
API Support
What do you dislike about the product?
Really just nit-picking at this point. Joining data sources is only an "inner join." Easy enough to workaround with data normalization and/or custom SQL tables (that do allow outer joins).
When we were on-prem, we relied heavily on emailed reports with PDF attachments. The reports within the email body looked fine, but the PDF formatting wasn't the greatest. This may be resolved in newer versions. Since we've moved to the cloud, users can access reports external to the network on their phone - the responsive site looks great. No need for PDFs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used Sisense on-prem for a 3 year contract. This was the first BI tool for our company as they were realizing the value of a data driven business. We were able to automate many of our manual operational reports that we were previously not able to automate. As a transportation company, trailer load percentage is vital - We are able to use sisense to see real-time load factor as the trips are being planned, rather than after the fact and hoping for better results "next time." All of our reports were internal until recently. With the need for customer facing reports, we chose to extend our contract going with Sisense's cloud solution. We are still in the early stages there, but enjoying the results. Sisense uses AWS for their cloud platform - zero downtime so far and the performance is much better than our on-prem.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When we first started, connecting to DB2 was a bit of a task (connection strings), but that has been resolved in later versions. I would just highly recommend giving Sisense a shot. I had never heard of it prior to using it, but it far exceeds expectations.

We have a very unique use case and would like to see a faster features roll out timeline, particularly exporting to PowerPoint. However, we are leverage Sisense in a non-traditional way and the system has been extremely flexible to meet our needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data aggregation, analytics, summaries/recaps.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The compromise by the delivery leaders to help reach the tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
There should be a chatbot to help resolve tickets a direct with the proper support. Most of the time I have to wait two or three days until I get a response and then arrange a call

The development of a BI platform

Quick and easy to make Visualizations on the desktop!

  • June 22, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can pull in multiple Elasticubes into one dashboard which has made my data management easier. Performance is not bad as of now. Looking forward to time when we have larger data sets!
What do you dislike about the product?
Mobile App can improve lots of functionalities and plugins don't function well on the mobile app. Tabber or Text objects being the basic once.
Login into mobile app is really cumbersome, we need FaceID to login

Secondly we can split the screen horizontally and add two views in a row, but now we cannot further segregate a section of this row into two views vertically. Imagine something like this is not possible in Sisense

View1 View 3
View2 View 3

Lastly, what would be really helpful is more flexibility in scheduling data load schedule timings, right now we can only do it Daily and that to a certain time a day. We would like an option to select multiple refresh loads in a day which could as random as : 1 AM, 2AM. 9 AM, 2 PM, 5 PM every 1st 10th and 16th day of the month.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
most of our internal stakeholders use this tool to make strategic decisions. Sales/Marketing/Finance/Distribution
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy to use, coding is not that tough and SQL friendly, Constant new features are coming in on a daily basis. We get great support from the custom support team whenever required to apply fixes and make changes to the existing product. Some of the open source plugins and javascripts help us edit charts and visualizations when necessary. Overall a great product and good customer service. Some of the upcoming features will define the trajectory of this tool over the next few years

Great BI solution to transform, consolidate and present all your data

  • June 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Sisense gives the ability to connect to various data sources and transform based on the reporting requirement. Plenty of visualization options available and several options to customize anything. The drag and drop designing works excellent even for non-technical users.
What do you dislike about the product?
The elasticube's/data model's re-usability is limited. Depending on the requirements, you end up designing several data models for the same data to achieve a different view on the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main issue was to consolidate the data from all acquisitions and sister companies. It's very easy to connect to different types of data sources. The SQL functions available to develop data model are extensive and helps transform data. The web-based solution is extremely robust and requires little learning effort.
