Enables enterprises to secure applications, data and infrastructure in a single platform for Cloud (and Enterprise

  • January 12, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

It serves for identity management in the government sector.

What is most valuable?

Saviynt provides built-in access recommendations, while SailPoint IdentityNow offers access recommendations through a separate AI integration that requires additional licensing. Saviynt functions as a unified platform for various business operations, consolidating user and access data from multiple sources into a single platform. This allows for leveraging the same user base and data across different business functions, including access governance, privileged access management, data access governance, and third-party access governance. In contrast, SailPoint is a decoupled tool, requiring separate integration for managing access and permissions, especially for unstructured data. Saviynt's approach is more integrated and streamlined, providing a unified platform for access to recommendations and various business operations.

What needs improvement?

Both SailPoint IdentityNow and Saviynt have some bugs, but SailPoint is considered more mature with fewer bugs due to its longer establishment in the market since around 2005. SailPoint had its share of bugs in the early days, but they have resolved them over time, resulting in a stable product. Saviynt, on the other hand, was launched around 2013 or 2014 and is actively working to improve its product. Despite having some bugs, Saviynt is making progress and aims to build a stable product, but it is not there yet.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Saviynt for the past 1 year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Saviynt is widely used in the market with a large customer base. However, we often observe a relatively higher ratio of bugs. Despite this, both Saviynt and IdentityNow regularly release patches or upgrades, usually around four to five times a month. Clients can choose the appropriate version based on their applications and integrations, and it is generally recommended to go for the latest release. However, clients may stick to their current version if it already suits their needs. Upgrades are requested when identifying bugs or if a later patch addresses specific issues. Both Saviynt and IdentityNow are stable products, and any observed bugs are reported and managed through tickets and future releases.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

How are customer service and support?

I haven't directly interacted with them, but we do communicate if any functionalities are not working as expected or if there are gaps in understanding the functionality. We maintain contact with them throughout the project lifecycle, interacting with them as needed, whether it's for settling minor issues or addressing more critical ones.

How was the initial setup?

Saviynt handles all aspects of installation and deployment for us. As a SaaS product, we have no control over product upgrades or installations. It's a SaaS product, not deployed as SaaS. A tenant is essentially an instance created for each of our customers, provided by Saviynt itself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

If you are investing in securing your data and avoiding any non-compliance issues, then yes, it is certainly recommended. To put it plainly, if you're willing to pay fines and aren't concerned about the misuse of data, then there might not be a problem. However, if you intend to safeguard the data of your employees, vendors, and customers, it becomes crucial.

In this context, managing data security requires preventive and detective measures, such as enforcing segregation of duties and regularly reviewing permissions. Throughout an individual's lifecycle within an organization or customer life cycle, various access permissions are granted. Without taking action on these permissions, there is a risk of exposure later on. If individuals retain access after leaving the organization, it poses a serious security threat. Implementing solutions like Saviynt can address these challenges, ensuring continuous access review, generating reports, and alerts, and identifying potential risks.

What other advice do I have?

The choice of software depends on your infrastructure. If your current setup is entirely on-premise, I would recommend opting for IGA. It offers more flexibility and compatibility in such a context, although it also supports cloud integrations. Conversely, if your infrastructure is purely cloud-based, such as being a recently established company fully operating on the cloud, a SaaS product like IdentityNow or Saviynt would be more suitable. Additionally, the decision may be influenced by the size of your employee or user base.

In terms of solutions and features, it's definitely a ten. However, when considering flexibility, feasibility of integrations, and from a developer standpoint, I would lean towards Saviynt. So, for an overall rating, I would prefer to assess each category individually rather than generalizing. If I were to rate Savient as a total product, it would be around eight or nine. From the employer's perspective, considering that it helps mitigate and identify various challenges, I would give it a decent rating of eight or nine.

What is most valuable?

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Saviynt for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product's stability is not easy to maintain.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Saviynt doesn't scale beyond 5,000 user accounts.

Has an easy setup process, but it needs more customization options

  • August 29, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is most valuable?

The product's certification includes valuable features like consulting and verification. The workflows are straightforward to use and configure in the access requests feature. Additionally, the repository has many features where you can define primary and secondary owners. You can customize it the way you want.

What needs improvement?

It is time-consuming to troubleshoot issues. Fetching data and transforming it to another system could be easier. There could be more customization options as customers have different environments and requirements. We need to go through other channels every time. It would save us a lot of time if more options were included. Apart from that, the documentation needs improvement as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Saviynt for two years. We are using the 23.4 version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have 7000 to 8000 users for Saviynt.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support services are average. Their team asks us to refer to the forum whenever we raise tickets. Instead, they should provide the solution or divert customers to a specific forum, as customers cannot fetch essential information from a database or repository.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Oracle and SailPoint.

How was the initial setup?

The initial is very straightforward. It takes a day to complete. The deployment process involves requesting Saviynt to fetch a tenant and download the component we need to install for the on-premise version. We can also deploy it on the cloud and integrate it as per requirements. We can use it once the connectivity is done and firewall ports are open.

We require one manager, one senior consultant or senior architect, and two to three developers to execute the process. However, the number of technical staff members depends on the use cases and time frame.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is less expensive than SailPoint.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Saviynt a seven out of ten. It is not fully customizable. I advise others to work as a customer consultant apart from being an integrator.

Saviynt: the Ideal IDM

  • April 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Integration with a multitude of tools
Rich in features
Seamless integration with SAP
Security features
Access risk assessment feature
Access Certification feature
What do you dislike about the product?
Certain features fail - for example, when a user changes roles within the organization, the entitlement changes. If the entitlement does not change, Saviynt removes the existing entitlement but does not re-issue the same, leaving the user without any entitlements. Also, the report and analytics section can be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing identity in our vast IT and OT infrastructure.
