Identifies migration blockers and boosters while facing challenges with platform-specific roadblocks
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
In cloud migration, I use CAST highlight to identify blockers, which are the negative road patterns, and also the boosters, which are positive code patterns.
What needs improvement?
The solution provides agnostic blockers for platforms as well as for containerization. Within that containerization, it offers generic blockers. However, my project might require it to provide Windows-specific blockers or Linux-specific blockers, as I often work with only one platform at a time. If I received categorization in containerization blockers, it would save time. Understanding only the OS-specific blockers means I would avoid resolving irrelevant issues, thus saving time.
Initially, I receive a response from support, however, if there is involvement from R&D or other teams, it may take longer than expected. The support team is challenging when sharing source code. As this is a static code analysis tool, it sometimes requires source code for R&D. However, CAST clients may be restricted from sharing due to business logic and nondisclosure agreements. This creates a challenge, and I may have to share pseudo code or seek client approval, risking escalation.

I have used the solution for almost six years.
How are customer service and support?
CAST highlight support is available. I reach out to the CAST vendor for assistance and raise a ticket, which gets assigned to the concerned POC. They could improve, as their main aim seems to be closing the ticket rather than satisfying customer requirements. Some support team members are helpful, and others lack in-depth knowledge of the tool, which might cause challenges.

Offers so many metrics to have a very detailed view on an application portfolio. Also, it can analyze a wide range of programming languages without having to setup anything, just give it a directory and it works out of the box !
The certification process if very easy and quick to go through and become competent in using the platform.
The process is very fast so you can run it continuously without having to wait long periods of time to get some results. It can be integrated into the CI pipeline

This tool could be of great use in the Open-Source/Non-profit world but the price sets a restriction for it to be used in big companies;

CAST Highlight gives an overview of the portfolio to see when efforts should be directed, and then it gives very detailled suggestions for each application

CAST Highlight is the best tool for Rapid Porfolio Analysis, Lot of our customers are interested towards Cloud Risk Assessment and on the Third Party Risk Assessment. Quick win scenario is more due to Rapid Analysis helps tool to come up with Solution. Good tool to recommend with below use cases

No Drawbacks as such observed other than the remediations for violations reported in Highlight.

It has the default feature f automatically identifiying critical issues in the codebase, including open-source license violations and security flaws, enabling early intervention.

In CAST Highlight i like the Scores which are displayed on the home page like it depicts the overall Software Health,Cloud Maturity, Open source Risk Control and the best part of CAST Highlight is the Green Impact of the Applications which are there in the user account.The Application user can easily track the Voilations and roadblocks in thier code to improve the software health core, it would be very useful to user to track them and aslo we can also check robustness and elegance and software egligity of an particular application or with all applications too.One more best Feature i liked in CAST Highlight was the Technical Debt it shows how many person perday is required to improve the score of an application , so it is the best option for the application owner to save their time and increase the score and quality of the code. "THE CAST HIGHLIGHT TOOL IS THE CONTROL TOWER OF THE ALL APPLICATIONS." Cast Highlight also provides the CAST Highlight code reader so that we can run the code scan locally in our machine and also very good custommer support . I am using this CAST higlight frequently in work to find score of Application.It is a usery friendly interface, it is easy to use and implement.Cast Highlight is very useful tool which works very well in all comapatable machines and also making it easy to analyze abd understandthe Software Scores of an application.It also provide CLI Version of CAST Highlight so that we can run the codelocally in our machine.

Actually there are no downsides of the CAST Highlight, I want to inform that there is an small issue in login page it's not an big issue but some some times it would take long time to login in to the account, rest of that i like the Tool.

The CAST Highlight solves the major issues like identifying the road blocks that are available in code are stopping from moving to the cloud.It also helps the Appication owner to monitor thier code health and quality of the code and also the Risk control of the code in the CAST Highlight Portal.

Reading source code automatically locally either by source code repository or with CI/CD tool chain

Understanding the various results for Software Health, Cloud Maturity,Open Source Safety and Green Impact is not obvious and takes time. CAST Highlight learning (YouTube) is very helpful.
