It's easy to test and start using. You can create something using real time very fast.

The charges on messages in connection count, using presence channels.

We create a real-time chat for live webinars inside our platform for the users and their members to share knowledge.

If you're trying to create a real-time experience, Ably APIs and documentation will help you.
Great customer support
What do you like best about the product?
We use Ably for a realtime gaming application for the education market and like the payload size, the speed, and the great customer support. Support is proactive.
What do you dislike about the product?
No real issues. We need to be careful not to hit the hard limits in our plan but Ably has helped us size the right plan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ably provides the realtime communication between our players. We have tried two other services but we found Ably a more modern architecture with better performance and payload.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We found it helpful to use the free tier to learn about Ably and make sure it would work in our application.

What do you like best about the product?
Stable service. We barely meet our users with problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I adjust to a lower package. I spend time on waiting for our invoice. But after manager Vincent involved, it become faster.

1. Our communication system, ex: comment in our live room or chat with users etc.

Ably Has Taken The Hard Parts and Made it Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Ably Realtime allows us to get real-time updates without having to rely on subscribing to DB updates. We were able to decouple the existing app from expensive DB read/writes and simply listen for published messages. The message quota limits are significant enough that we will probably never reach the limit. Ably also takes the pain out of setting up our own SQS, which is huge. The documentation is great for a basic setup. Support responses are quick with helpful information even on the Free Tier accounts.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the documentation is great, a Google search of specific questions/issues is sparse. There is no Discord or Slack community for real-life questions. The Support page refers you to Stack Overflow, although we have found those to be mostly unhelpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As mentioned, we were able to decouple the application from being required to do expensive DB read/writes and simply pass messages to connected clients. This has greatly reduced the reliance on the DB and has reduced the DB loads by 300%!
Ably
What do you like best about the product?
Ably has always been helpful when I've had questions both providing internal resources who can help solve issues and providing good, detailed support pages and responding to questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to be able to tweak some of the automatic alerts we get from ably. This isn't a major criticism of ably itself as the alerts are useful but it would be a nice to have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are a couple key benefits we've gained from ably, the key one is the CDN like ability of ably where we can send or receive a message from an ably instance and utilizie their CDN to deliver it to remote clients. Utilising the ably infrastructure also means that we are able to move away from legacy on prem messaging systems.
Great app for realtime messaging
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Ably is that it is straightforward to use, and I can implement it so quickly. As a user, I can read the Ably documentation and implement the functionality right away. Also, customer support is effortless. They are very responsive and easy to reach out to. Overall, I can say ABly is the easiest way to implement Pub/Sub messaging in your application. I definitely recommend it!
What do you dislike about the product?
Although I think everything is good. But, there is one small suggestion from my side. There is no sample code provided for implementation in Vue.JS. I created my application using the Vue.JS framework, but I couldn't find any detailed examples for Vue.JS. Most of the examples were given for React only. I think if Ably can add some good code snippets for Vue.JS as well. It will be great. Apart from this, everything is good!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Ably to implement Realtime Pub/Sub messaging feature for a video-conferencing platform we are creating. The benefit that I realized was definitely the ease of implementation. I was able to understand everything because the documentation was very comprehensive. They have included all the concepts in detail. It was very easy to add it to my application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think Ably Realtime is an excellent tool for anyone looking to implement a Pub/Sub mechanism in their application. Personally, I will be using it every time I need Pub/Sub messaging. I will say just go for it. You will definitely love it.

The fact that Ably provides global distribution. 100% message delivery guarantees and state synchronization across devices allows us to concentrate on developing our core app as we know the realtime fundamentals are taken care of.

As a result, Guild can scale and integrate faster without the overhead of managing our own realtime infrastructure. But most crucially, we were able to quickly get to market and meet the expectations of our users, which simply would not have been possible without Ably.

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to be honest, the richness of features allows us to add functionality that our users require. For example, some of our customers in highly regulated industries need to be able to record and save interactions for compliance reasons. Ably provides a managed integration that streams communications straight to cloud-based storage servers for analysis.

Multi-language Platform Support - Ably Realtime
What do you like best about the product?
Ably Realtime helps me by providing cloud PaaS for my application build and development in my infrastructure. It resolves my latency issues, code durability, and data integrity with its real-time resolutions. Connecting with Ably is seamless, and requests can be published in our dedicated channels in which we define which customers receive what type of notification services.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have anything, in particular, to be mentioned as a feature I dislike in Ably Realtime. It provides me with a platform where I can easily type in my code deployments and test out the outputs in its platform console before moving it to my production environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my organization, I use Ably Realtime to process code deployments quickly in various scripting languages such as HTMS, CSS, Javascript, Typescript, and Python. It enables me to accurately distribute our resource utilization stats, analyze our business metrics and evaluate our authentication factor within its platform. All I have to do is deploy the code with its dependencies, and I can simply visualize the output with its real-time code processing features. It also helps me in anomaly detection and code defects thanks to its fantastic code compilation unit and for my application lifecycle management, it accurately produces the data processing results, which is majorly responsible for testing the proper execution of all my code deliverables.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use and integrate into web applications, and most importantly, it does what it promises; delivering data in real-time.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Ably, but it would be helpful if, in the dashboard, one can access the data that have been sent via Ably, the actual message.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We provide a BI tool that connects to hotels' systems and provides reservations data. Using Ably real-time, we delivered real-time feeds and updated the KPIs reports like SignalR technology.
