Integration solution proves maturity and drives productivity
What is our primary use case?
We are actually using Boomi in Kubernetes clusters. We deploy it in our own clusters for performance, specifically within the retail industry. Due to the high volumes and numerous integrations, we use Boomi to connect to delivery partners for same-day delivery of products.
We have a significant number of integrations for our clients, primarily compact with multi-system sources. For example, an order might come from online or through phone. We then determine which delivery partner will handle it, considering they have their own systems. We also monitor the status to see if it has been picked up or delivered.
What is most valuable?
The maturity of the product is significant. It has been proven in the industry, and we have used it for a long time. When developers learn how to use it, they become productive sooner.
With Boomi, once your product or order is ready, we connect it with Arbitrate. This helps us choose the delivery partner based on location and price and who can deliver within the necessary time frame.
What needs improvement?
There are many features we're using. We're starting to do AI now regarding integration with other platforms, focusing on creating integrations. A significant area for improvement is version control.
Currently, you develop and cannot properly roll back to a previous version unless you create different versions. With proper version control, you could know which version to revert to and test other versions.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used the solution for about four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
There are some stability issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It can scale well. The reason we wanted to use our own Kubernetes cluster was to do automatic scaling for utilized resources, allowing us to save. Running it on AtomSphere has limitations, making us want to bypass those.
How are customer service and support?
I haven't worked with support directly, however, I have a good relationship with their teams. Whenever we need something, we receive service that is more than adequate, even exceptional.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We use several platforms. The difference with Boomi is that it is a generic integration platform. Other platforms we work with are more focused on data platform integrations, mostly for reporting or data warehousing.
Boomi allows nearly real-time integration, enabling end-to-end processes in real-time. We use Data Factory for data transformations, offering prebuilt integrations for existing systems.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is straightforward. The only challenge might be acquiring the SSL keys to secure communications. Once you have the certificates up and running, the process involves calling, connecting, and proceeding with your tasks.
What was our ROI?
Some returns on investment are very high, often within three to six months. Others take longer, depending on the integration being implemented. The return is faster since development efforts are minimized, allowing for quicker integration delivery.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Pricing varies and they have changed it over the years. It depends on the company size and the value derived from the platform. While pricing is relative, compared to others, it is favorable.
Clients cover the costs, however, we provide an assessment to justify choosing Boomi. Companies often misunderstand ROI, seeing it as high, yet it equates to one or two full-time staff costs, addressing many needs.
What other advice do I have?
Boomi is particularly beneficial for improving operations and processes. While systems claim to integrate, they often operate independently. Boomi serves as an effective intermediary, facilitating communication between systems like CRM and billing platforms. For those with integration needs, Boomi is recommended.
I rate the overall solution a nine out of ten.
Dell Boomi: Ultimate Integration Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Dell Boomi lets you integrate seamless between systems. With its inbuilt connectors of various platforms like salesforce, AWS, Oracle and many more you can easily configure and connect bw these system. Boomi UI is very user friendly and anyone with little to no knowledge of integration tool can easily pick up on boomi functionality. The error handling mechanism of Dell Boomi is also good. I like the way you can easily track the errors and debug the process. Implementing the solutions are bit easy but when it comes down to complex solutions Boomi won't be able to satisfy your needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Boomi is not advancing in terms of complex logic solutions. There are couple of things that makes Boomi behind other integration tools such as Oracle Integration Cloud. Also, the customer support is a bit lacky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Boomi has helped me to deliver custom tailored solutions to one of our client from education industry. Also, it helped me professionally as I got my integration basics cleared.
Boosts integration efficiency and enhances data workflows for SAP and CRM systems
What is our primary use case?
I have been using Boomi iPaaS, primarily for integration processes involving SAP systems and CRM systems on the cloud, particularly in the pharma industry. I needed to create a connector that could connect these systems, consolidate data into one workflow, and provide an end-user content interface.
How has it helped my organization?
Boomi iPaaS has substantially reduced operational costs by providing out-of-the-box connectors that expedite the integration process with enterprise systems. It has also enhanced workflow efficiency by handling errors in data mismatches and has facilitated faster onboarding of new partners in our business network.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features of Boomi are the integration capabilities, the Data Hub product, and the UDI integration. Additionally, API management has been beneficial for data integration, specifically in terms of data aggregation and creating experience APIs.
What needs improvement?
The integration landscape has become complex, and having a data strategy with unified data models would make integration easier for any platform, including Boomi.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been dealing with Boomi iPaaS for about four years.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support from Boomi is good, seamlessly meeting SLAs and providing excellent responses to challenges and issues related to interface and data connectivity.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before using Boomi, the onboarding of partners was time-consuming and required substantial custom development. Boomi's low code and out-of-the-box connectors have significantly reduced the time and effort required for these tasks.
What other advice do I have?
Boomi is recommended for complex integration in hybrid cloud environments with multiple enterprise systems. It is particularly effective when there is a combination of SAP and CRM systems.
I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.
A good low code platform with good admin functionality
What do you like best about the product?
Simple Interface - The platform is simple to manage users and environments along with features such as Single Sign on, MDH models etc.
If you want to host it on cloud VM's, locally, you can do that, and there is also MCS (managed cloud solution) option if you don't want to manage the underlying infrastructure so there are options accroding to your prreference & budget.
What do you dislike about the product?
UI switching issues - The platform, when switching to a different menus (eg. from Integration to User management etc.) sometimes takes lot longer than expected. It would be better if this transition / change of menus becomse quick and responsive.
No provisioning support - As of now Boomi only offers just the SSO functionality, but they lack the Provisioning support, by which (in case of Azure) a Entra ID group and it's users can be mapped as Boomi roles and users inside those roles on Boomi platform
Manually setting this up on Boomi side is a task, if you have already done this setup on Azure side ( User groups per environment and it's users)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In our company we use Boomi MDM, which is all about the data in centralised contstrcuted format which makes it easily accesible and easy to handle, this resulted in seamless integration with other Boomi processes with data accuracy.
We have also used API management service (Hosted on a virtual machine) to streamline the authentication process and make the security aspect stronger.
