The Go-To Linux OS for Homelabs and Professionals

  • December 09, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu has become the standard Linux OS for many people. It's very popular for homelabs as well as professional environments. I love that it doesn't require the resources to run smoothly like a Windows OS and it's free!
What do you dislike about the product?
Every Linux OS requires some knowledge for terminal commands, so it's not merely a GUI driven operating system. There is a larger learning curve than Windows, which may prevent people from using it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu provides a stable OS for my homelab. It allows me to learn new things and stay current with tech without having to spend any money on software because it's free and open source.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Ubuntu's interface and its ability to run on sandbox. The sandbox feature makes it easier to run Ubuntu without needing to install the entire OS on my machine. It's also a great Linux alternative that is better for daily use and more flexible. The initial setup is self-explanatory, which is really convenient.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu is not heavily used unless it is for tech or cybersecurity, making it pretty unique on its own.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu makes it easier to find vulnerabilities and strengthen networks. The sandbox feature lets me run Ubuntu without a full install. It's a great Linux alternative, better for daily use, and more flexible than Kali Linux.

What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy that Ubuntu provides long-term support and stability, which ensures a smooth working environment. Its resource utilization is effective, offering a great interface and better working experience. Despite lacking prior experience with Linux distros, Ubuntu has allowed me to work efficiently and provide servers using its OS as an additional platform for custodian needs. Ubuntu's huge community support and security by design, including a built-in firewall and frequent patches without interruptions, enhance my experience. Its lightweight and customizable features are impressive, and being free and open-source adds to its appeal. Also, Ubuntu's predictable updates, helpful tutorials, and forums contribute to its minimal crashes. The initial setup was straightforward, thanks to the setup and installation manual.

Snap packages can be clow and large

Ubuntu: Precision, Calm, and Effortless Collaboration

  • December 05, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
what i appreciate most about ubuntu is the feeling that the operating system is not just running on my machine it is quitely collaborating with me. ubuntu has this rare balance where it feels engineered with precision but behaves with a kind of calm confidence. nothing tries to surprise you, nothing shouts for your attention and yet everything feels ready the moment you need it.
What do you dislike about the product?
what bothers me most about ubuntu is not a specific bug or missing feature it is feeling that the system sometimes tries to be polite to a fault. ubuntu wants to be friendly, but in that friendliness, it occasionally hides the rough edges a power user expects to see. it smooths things over so much that when something does break, it feels like the OS suddenly stops speaking you language.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ubuntu solves a problem i did not realize i had the constant background noise that comes with using an operating system. On other platform, you are always aware of the system updates nag you, settings hide themselves, and tools feel scattered. ubuntu quiets all of that. it solves the problem of digital clutter by giving you a workspace that stays out of your way until you invites it in.

User-Friendly GNOME and Reliable Updates Make It Stand Out

  • December 04, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The GNOME component is excellent and very user-friendly. Apt offers extensive libraries, and its continuous updates help keep the system stable and secure for everyday use. I have noticed that every two years, an LTS version is released, which further enhances stability, security, and readiness for the future.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much to mention, but I have occasionally found it challenging when the production or cloud server environments differ, especially when the package names are not the same. This can make things more difficult to manage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The fact that it is open source is its greatest advantage, as it allows anyone to use it without needing a user license. This is not the case with many other operating systems. Additionally, its compatibility with widely used processors such as AMD and Intel makes it even more accessible and practical for everyone.

Reliable, User-Friendly, and Perfect for Developers

  • December 01, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Ubuntu is its overall ease of use and the smooth ease of implementation, whether I’m setting it up on a personal machine or configuring a development environment. The OS offers a rich number of features while remaining lightweight and intuitive. Its ease of integration with tools like Docker, Git, and cloud services makes it ideal for development work. Ubuntu also provides dependable updates, strong security, and a large community that acts as an informal extension of customer support, ensuring that solutions to most issues are easy to find. Because of this reliability, my frequency of use is high-I rely on Ubuntu daily for both work and personal projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times, certain proprietary applications or drivers are not completely optimized for Ubuntu, which may necessitate manual setup. Hardware compatibility problems-particularly with Wi-Fi adapters, graphics drivers, and printers-can still occur depending on the specific device. Additionally, major version upgrades occasionally bring changes that disrupt established workflows, so it is important to approach updates with care. For newcomers transitioning from Windows or macOS, there can be a learning curve, especially when it comes to using the terminal or adjusting system settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Provides a stable and consistent environment for development and testing.

2. Eliminates dependency issues through a reliable APT package management system.

3. Offers excellent support for Docker, containers, and cloud-native tooling.

4. Reduces security risks with regular updates and built-in security features.

5. Saves setup time with smooth installation and easy configuration.

6. Works well even on older hardware, reducing the need for upgrades.

7. Minimizes system crashes and compatibility issues, improving productivity.

8. Offers strong community support for quick troubleshooting.
