Best OS for programmers
What do you like best about the product?
I have two laptops, one on Windows and another on Ubuntu.
My favourite would be the latter, because not only is it open-source, lighter and faster; it is the BEST OS for development and programming and also for any kind of data science analyses because of high compatibility with software and dependencies. The cherry on top is the fact that it is more secure than other more widely used OS and more immune to hacks and viruses, thanks to the way it is built. It also comes with pre-installed software so we don't have to download everything separately.

What do you dislike about the product?
It is not as user friendly as Windows unfortunately and the learning curve is steeper for not so tech savvy users. Although this can be overcome through educating oneself by watching tutorials. Once the learning curve is crossed, it is the best OS to use overall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu to develop software, write code and also run bioinformatics analyses in the command line for various studies involving disease, systems biology, proteomics and genetics. I like that all the software, dependencies I need are supported by Ubuntu. I use several programming languages for coding in Ubuntu and the IDEs for all of them are supported. Currently the project I am working on is finding novel therapeutics for thrombosis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would 100% recommend Ubuntu for all new users, especially programmers. I would advise to watch a few YouTube tutorials so that you can get the hang of using Ubuntu and the commandline :)

Ubuntu - a good OS but shadowed by centos in production
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is simplicity redefined. Super easy to get started with.
Ubuntu is good for small dev environments as well as for general purpose daily use as it has a smashing UI and very complete features as compared to CentOS - my other primary OS but unfortunately this does not translate well to other usages such as production environments.

What do you dislike about the product?
While documentation is complete, the package manager is not very straightforward when automation is needed.
There are other limitations as well such as we often are unable to get some specific package installed or there is some weird dependency required which cannot be directly installed. I find that centos handles this beautifully and there are fewer hiccups there. It may be my personal bad experience or some very specific and weird scenario but I find that centos is a better competitor for production environments which is probably validated by its wide industrial use.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu has been a staple in my life for a very long time. I've used it in dev environments as well as a daily driver OS and I am in awe of its completeness and feature rich presentation. I have mostly used it for its powerful command line but it has a very good set of components that make it extremely valuable.
Best WSL till date!
What do you like best about the product?
When I started my ruby on rails journey, I had a windows laptop. But setup of rails required linux based terminal. Windows didn't had it. Seniors told me to use Ubuntu server. I was so much excited to finally develop rails based application using Ubuntu Server. I made it easier for. Later on I installed ubuntu OS itself as WSL is still not fast enough for rails development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall, need to improve basic color themes otherwise it's best for it's purpose.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For developing and debugging rails which requires linux based terminal. Ubuntu server had all benefits which windows os is lacking currently
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you don't have mac, Still you want to develop rails based applications or tool that required linux base system and you are a windows user, then don't worry. Ubuntu server is savior for you all. Just install and run it windows. There might be some complications due to windows but you will able to all such things with ubuntu. Just go for it.
