Closing the gaps

  • November 25, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
They are improving the UI in comparison of other Linux based OS
What do you dislike about the product?
Crashs and bugs are really bad and unnecessary updates are irritating
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using it in my development and found it fast and reliable
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ubuntu 20.04 (Focal Fossa) feels stable, cohesive, and familiar, which is not surprising given the changes since the 18.04 release, such as the move to to newer versions of the Linux Kernel and GNOME. As a result, the user interface looks excellent and feels smoother in operation than the previous LTS version

Ubuntu OS Review

  • November 25, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is best for developers to code. in which we can install required package, Ubuntu is free where windows is paid, Viruses are hard to survive in Ubuntu so we don't need the virus scanner, Ubuntu uses less resource compared to windows
What do you dislike about the product?
many things need to be done only through the command line, same UI from the beginning there are no such big updates in terms of UI, some software are hard to install and some are not supported at all. Ubuntu is not for gamer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
mainly i use Ubuntu for coding where i use Visual code which is light weight. apart from that most of my work will be done in browser itself like cloud services. the benefits are Ubuntu OS only gets restarted when Kernel patches are needed, and it has LTS version.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if your are a software developer and need hassle free working experience while using servers and coding its better to use the Ubuntu

A great linux flavour for people transitioning from Windows/MacOS

  • November 25, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
No doubt a great linux flavour. But the GNOME GUI is unnecessarily bloated which is a big turn off for people familiar with other Linux distros. But since it tries to provide a relatively user-friendly interface, I would say it's the best Linux distro for people transitioning from Windows/MacOS into the world of Linux.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. The GNOME GUI is unnecessarily bloated
2. snap is really buggy and resource hungry. I'd say switch back to apt
3. Games are still not a thing, but that's a problem with all non-Windows OSes
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Faster than most Windows OSes
2.The terminal is the most powerful part of the OS and as a developer, I use that the most
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would say it's the best Linux distro for people transitioning from Windows/MacOS into the world of Linux.

awesome open-source and capable OS

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Best part is that it is open source and free for all . Unlike the other Linux distributions Ubuntu is very beginner friendly and have very clean user interface which is also improving day by day.Ubuntu constantly releases update and security patches. This is the best you OS for developers and programmers (personal opinion) because everything is combustible unlike mac OS.The biggest reason to love Ubuntu is the community behind it. you can ask your queries on askubuntu.com and you will get response within no time .
What do you dislike about the product?
Since it is opensource there are some problems as well. You will struggle to get good software available for day to day tasks. Even it is difficult to get a fully working video editor for Ubuntu. Many companies don't provide their native apps for Linux due to their small user base. And it sometimes stuck and crashes as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is a life savior for a programmer. You can install the packages just by running a simple command in terminal and everything will be setup. Most of the tools like gcc,g++ are designed for Linux works well with Ubuntu but for windows you need plugins to run them.
It's also a lightweight OS used less amount of ram and works well on low end PCs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to be a programmer you will definitely like it.If you are a normal user just give a try to it you will get more insides of how a OS works.

A great Operating System

  • November 22, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the thorough and frequent upgrades, without the intrusiveness of something like Windows updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like trying to sign a PDF, it's the only thing that's not pain-free.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is an all-around rock solid OS. The benefits are fantastic Posix interoperability without the Apple headaches and cost.
