actually for a coder it is easy to learn and now a days it becomes more user friendly. it is fun to code on Ubuntu platform.

Ubuntu is linux based operating system with clean & simple design and powerfyterminal
Being a developer i can find each and every software, tool, editor etc for ubuntu(linux).
The RAM management in ubuntu is superb, for example android studio in windows 10 with sane configuration do not run smoothly but works well in it
For initial ubuntu user i recommend person to use gnome tweek tool to add some windows like feature

Settings is not that simple.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Resource management - ubuntu uses very less resources which allows application to run smoothly
2. Terminal - in windows we need different terminal for each like git bash, node cmd etc but in ubuntu single terminal is capable of doing everything

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is a very secure OS and being Open Source is available to all at no cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has good features but not so much user friendly like windows OS

Working with command line is good. Shell scripting and VI editor is known feature of Ubuntu.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the gui which which comes along with ubuntu desktop version. Its user friendly and very easy to work with. Installation can be done very fast and its open source to use. I have worked with both ubuntu 14 and ubuntu 16 versions. Though it does not require antivirus we use Mcafee to protect the system. you also get community support for the issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since it is a open source getting support for application compatibility and other stuff is difficult. Some softwares are not compatible with ubuntu and we dont get required drivers. GUI has to be improved more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I regularly work with ubuntu and interact with users when they face any kind of issues which are related to application which they are running on ubuntu. I mostly solve issues related to ssl on ubuntu and disk related issues. Also issues related to deployment from vrealize automation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy to use and its open source. GUI is good and it has to be improved. I will definitely recommend to use and experience the ubuntu desktop version.

What do you like best about the product?
I like very much the easy apt packaging System , repositories, the documentation and the big usefull community. Ubuntu Is a de facto standard , you can find a guide to set up every function or software in a few minutes in the web, for the specific version of ubuntu server you are using. Of you choose tu adopt the lts edictions you are sure they will be supported for years and to have the stablest packages.You can use of you prefer the newest edictions with the last software and functions.I like the support for ZFS file System, with it I can compress automatically my stored data, crypt them, handle disks adding them in mirrors, stripings ecc in a great way! With ubuntu server Is very simple to install and use backup software like Borg , storing your data using i.e. Deduplication. Ubuntu server Is easy and user friendly for beginners and powerfull for the experts.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my use, no downsides found, I also tried rpm based distros , but I never feel confortable as with ubuntu server. I never found elsewhere the semplicity and the minimum effort to build a samba server, a cloud synch and/or backup service or a VoIP server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu server give me the opportunity to learn (before) and release in production (after) many kind of servers , locally, in vps and in vitual machines, with good reliability and performance. I use Ubuntu server for Samba servers, host synch and backup systems and services, make virtual machine servers. With ubuntu server i built the envirinment I use to develop web services and applicazione using python; the production server that host those services Is ubuntu server with Apache or ngix.

Choose an lts release , so you are sure to have continuity, support and updates

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is light weight, packages are easily available, super fast, updates are frequent, customisable and top of that it is an open source operating system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its UI is not that much great , it is difficult for users to migrate from windows or mac os . Updates are also not that much standard and some time we need to update very frequently. Its compatibility with softwares is also one of the key challenge for its users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is an open source , it is quite customisable compare to legacy os like windows and mac os. Its packages are easily available and free to use. It is safe from malware and virus attack as well.

If you are looking for light weight customisable OS with plenty of support, you can go for it.

Ubuntu is open source commercial OS existed for several of years. it's regularly launches it's updates which included new functionality plus bug fixes. it's safe to use Ubuntu for commercial purpose as using pirates OS can cause your organisation in court room trouble and you have to pay fine. But with Ubuntu you can use without paying anything to anyone and you can also use all features what offered by other competing organisations. Ubuntu is not looking very easy as initially learning period but as you start using it, it's in your habit and you find it easy to use, and user friendly .
it's secure too, as it's having high standards for no supporting executable files.
