Free, Secure, and Highly Customizable—Ubuntu at Its Best

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Ubuntu is that it’s free, open-source, and highly customizable, which gives users a lot of control over their system.

Ubuntu is especially helpful because it’s reliable, has strong security features, and works well with a wide range of software and development tools. For me, the biggest upsides are its faster performance and the fact that I experience fewer system crashes.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Ubuntu is that some proprietary software and certain hardware drivers aren’t always fully supported right out of the box. It can also come with a learning curve for people who are new to Linux, especially when they need to use the terminal for more advanced tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu solves problems for businesses by providing a secure, stable, and cost-effective operating system that reduces reliance on expensive licensing fees. For me, it delivers reliable performance, consistent security updates, and the flexibility to run business, development, and cloud applications efficiently, without unnecessary overhead.

Superb Performance, Ideal for Development

  • February 03, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Ubuntu for my daily development work and other tasks, and it's my default OS on my laptop. It's fast and reliable, and compared to other operating systems, it is the fastest and safest option for me. I love that Ubuntu is compatible with any software or tool I need to use, which makes it versatile. The best part for me is its performance; it's super fast, allowing me to multitask easily. During development, I often use heavy software, and Ubuntu loads things faster, saving me a lot of loading time. I can easily install development tools like VS Code, Android Studio, and emulators for daily use. I recommend Ubuntu 10 out of 10 because it's the best OS at this time.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far everything works fine. Some minor things like clipboard history that must be allowed without any external software. Also my laptop fingerprint does not work with Ubuntu.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is fast, reliable, and safe, making it perfect for development work with heavy software. It saves time with swift performance and is compatible with any tool.

What do you like best about the product?
It’s very easy to use if you have basic knowledge of Linux or if you want to work through the command-line interface. It’s beginner-friendly and open source, which makes it a very good option for beginners.

If commands are executed without the user understanding what they do, they can delete the entire system or corrupt it. It’s better to have a basic understanding of what you’re running before executing anything.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Because it’s open source and straightforward, it’s very useful for running many open-source applications. There’s no bloatware or unnecessary system issues, and overall it feels direct, stable, and secure.

Powerful OS with User-Friendly Interface

  • January 31, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Ubuntu in my day-to-day work as an embedded software developer because it is very user-friendly and a good balance of command interface and GUI, unlike other Linux-based terminals that only have a command-line terminal. It works perfectly fine along with Windows through a virtual machine, and I can use it just like my Windows OS, which is superb. I appreciate that I can keep applications like Visual Studio, browse, maintain my repositories and files, and build software to flash and run on the hardware in the same environment. Managing things through the terminal is more user-friendly, and I have sudo access for managing permissions. Overall, Ubuntu provides a great environment/platform for building embedded software.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few minor issues with Ubuntu. I'd like it if there was an option for auto full-screen mode instead of just offering different size options for users to try different combinations. Also, I experience a lot of pop-up messages, like for upgrades or some kind of failures, which can be annoying. Sometimes, Ubuntu also tends to hang or lag, which could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu because it's user-friendly and balances command interface with GUI. It works seamlessly with Windows via a virtual machine, supports applications like Visual Studio, and effectively manages code repositories, providing the necessary environment for building embedded software.

User-Friendly, Stable, and Highly Customizable Linux Distro

  • January 31, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is a free, open-source Linux distro that’s known for being user-friendly, stable, and highly customizable. It’s lightweight and runs smoothly even on older hardware, and it also has a massive community that makes it easy to find help and support when you need it. On top of that, it receives regular updates and works well whether you’re coding, running servers, or just using it day to day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Snap can be sluggish, GNOME is a bit heavy, and some folks don’t vibe with Canonical’s corporate angle. Arch is cutting-edge but a bit more hands-on, while distros like Linux Mint (XFCE or MATE) or Pop!_OS are lighter and smoother on older hardware.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu gives me a free, stable, and easy-to-use platform that saves me money, keeps my old laptop running smooth, and offers tons of dev tools out of the box. It’s secure, customizable, and has a massive community for help.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Ubuntu is that it feels easy and comfortable to use. Even if someone is new to Linux, they won’t feel lost. Everything looks clean, apps open smoothly, and basic things like installing software or using the internet are simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
thing I dislike about Ubuntu is that some apps and software don’t work as easily as they do on Windows. Sometimes you have to use the terminal, which can feel confusing for beginners. Also, a few popular games and professional software are not fully supported
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is free to use, so I don’t have to pay for a license. It also runs smoothly on low or old laptops, which is helpful for students. Ubuntu is stable and doesn’t crash often, so my work feels safe. It also protects privacy better, with fewer ads and trackers
