Great Integration with VITR, But Needs Consistent Terminology
What do you like best about the product?
Having it integrate with return software (VITR)
What do you dislike about the product?
The language is not consistent between products. ie Geocodes, Tax Area IDs, Situs codes. Consistency would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since we have a homegrown ERP system, Vertex has shown us where we need to make improvements to our own system.

The flexibility of configuring it the way we want/need it.

There are not enough flex fields available to accomplish all of our tax assist rule needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vertex is helping to standardize our tax rules and use the system to determine taxability rather than having us create user defined rules.

User friendly and consultants have been great to work with for implementation into Odessa 5.0. Customer support is helpful and timely

Comprehensive Tax Solution with Powerful MDU, Minor Cleanup Needed After Updates
What do you like best about the product?
Vertex is complete solution for tax related tasks. And I like the calculation engine update with MDU the most.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike is, sometimes it misses some clean up processes, that you must do, after applying recent MDU or upgarde

We use Vertex to calculate tax for my company and finance team can then file the tax based on those results.

User-Friendly Interface, But Reporting Needs Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
UI friendly, not overly complex. Easy to access returns.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting feature could be more robust. When making updates it locks the system and cannot be accessed. This causes delays in being able to process exemptions real time.

Management of tax rules and return processing and filing.

Tax preparation and driving taxability of PO and invoices for use tax.
Excellent Support and Relationships, But Limited by Legacy Data Integration
What do you like best about the product?
Customer support is very good. Sales Reps are good a developing a strong working relationship with our team.
What do you dislike about the product?
No their fault, but some of our data sources are antiquated and Vertex isn't able to access and integrate data from those systems.

We use it for Sales and Use Tax returns in most States
