Vertex is a very good sales tax engine lacking some UI features that would make it great.
What do you like best about the product?
Vertex does an excellent job of handling sales tax compliance, from calculation to reporting. Vertex O Series is able to handle sales tax for all states and Vertex does an excellent job of updating the rates and rules on a monthly basis. The process of filing sales tax returns is easy with Vertex Returns. The monthly process of converting all of the data from O Series to Returns is a simple process. In the times that we have needed customer assistance, the support team from Vertex has been able to quickly assist us with our needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some basic functionality features that could be added to Vertex O Series that would make it easier to use. Many of the menu options do not offer Excel exports of large amounts of table data that would make the data easier to analyze. An example of this is the tax rate lookup feature. There is a tax rate lookup screen that is helpful to review rates one at a time, but it would be nice to have a report that includes all rates for a given state, etc. There are a few screens within O Series that would greatly benefit from a simple export feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vertex is streamlining the process of charging customers accurate sales tax and paying the appropriate taxes to each state.

Vertex is really a very good product for calculating tax. It is very easy to understand and a very user friendly product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to be disliked about it. it is very flexiable tool.

Helps in calculating cross border taxes and the calculated taxes are very accurate

There is nothing to be disliked in Verex, it's a great tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vertex is helping our client in the tax calculation process with very easy integration process. Lyft uses Vertex to calculate different types of tax primarily for US, Canada. Vertex is a great tool for accurate cross-border tax calculations, easy to integrate, great customer support, high availability.

it doesn't return to 100 page records per page after viewing the data instead goes back to the standard 10 rescrds per page UI.

VAT calcualtion for AP invoices ensures that the vendor is not over or under charging.

Complete and Outstanding Sales Tax Software Solution
What do you like best about the product?
Sales tax software selection shouldn’t be taken lightly because of the impact on the business from a financial perspective. Going through that process with Vertex was eye opening. They were able to guide us down all the necessary paths to ensure that the system was set up correctly. So, getting them involved at the start prepared us for a successful integration.
The steps to the integration were clear and precise. Our UAT didn’t see any hiccups which made the go live date happen sooner than expected.
After going live is when some of the struggles a company could run into with software vendors. That isn’t the case with Vertex. We had questions and their responses were immediate and accurate. This brought comfort to management because nothing seems to be lingering.
The ease of use makes help administration get answers quickly.
We have converted all our marketplaces along with our ERP to have one source of truth and we couldn’t be happier with that decision to go with Vertex.

At this time, it there isn’t anything to dislike because they take on every challenge with a team of well knowledgeable staff.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being sales tax compliant is a major concern for every business. So, getting sales tax right on the transaction is the first step which Vertex made easy and accurate. Then at the end of every month the reporting to each state couldn’t be easier with Vertex. Just a few clicks of a button and every state has the necessary reports which are compliances with their rules.

Vertex has been so helpful and easy to implement for our business. We previously used Avalara and the functionality within Vertex is much more user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly we have not had any complaints about Vertex yet - our implementation and go-live phases have gone really well.
