Reliable and User Friendly
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is designed well having an easy access.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing on the top of my mind. Everything feels seamless at the moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am not currently working with Vertex, but in my prior tasks, it was really helpful for all the general tasks that I carried on.

The navigation is super good and user-friendly.

There is nothing I dislike. Everything is fine.

I Like the Flexibility and support, additionally once you get familiarized with the tool the interface is user friendly

Cost I know Vertex engine is one of the best in class Tax engine, however it could be good to have more flexible rates

In my current role I am not currently using Vertex, however from my previous , reliability and the content network are most of the significant benefits

easy access monthly and annual reports for sale tax

not able to upload a file from Vertex to the state to complete sales tax submittals
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Requested to the ability to download tax data for upload for state submittals. Easy to go back and change state tax data or add annual returns as needed
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Inability to update data to state sites makes for a more time consuming sales tax process

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is designed well. simple interface, easy to find what you need. I have used a lot of different software in my career and this is one of the best from the user interface standpoint.
The support documentation is top notch, easy to find and use.
The ECW works great. Its a simple interface for the customer and walks thru the process of creating an exemption certificate.

What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I don't like is that you have to wait for 15-45 minutes for new exemption certificates or other configuration changes to be populated in the Vertex system. With how we integrated it, that slows down the customer ordering process. In our shopping cart, the customer can create and exemption certificate at checkout. But with the delay in the certificate being populated thru the Vertex systems, the customer can't check out right away.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving- having Vertex keeps us from having to update tax tables and keep up with changing tax rates in 38 states. Benefits are the time savings of not manually entering tax rates, returns are generated automatically. The reporting tools show all the details needed for transactions, thus we don't have to create our own.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Vertex is definitely worth looking at. Our company only used it for sales tax compliance, but it works as expected. The integration with Magento went pretty smooth for our developer.
The interface is well thought out, easy to navigate. Their support / knowledgebase is really good. If there were questions that required contacting support, they respond in a timely matter and in most cases solved quickly.
During the onboarding period, training was provided 1 on 1 via a web meeting. Trainers were knowledgeable and very helpful.

What do you like best about the product?
Taxamo has been a trusted partner for our company on all taxation needs. We've maintained a strong ongoing relationship with Taxamo that has lasted over a year after our initial rollout. They've always been very responsive and accommodated many special requests. We've been able to count on Taxamo to provide good solutions and guidance as we've expanded taxation to new countries.
What do you dislike about the product?
As is fairly typical for a company whose functionality has evolved and expanded over the years, the API is not as streamlined as it could be and has a few quirks. However, we still found the API to be the most simple and straightforward on the market.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Taxamo for determining user's tax locations, calculating taxes and validating tax IDs. It handles hundreds of thousands of requests daily without issue. Taxamo has become our trusted source for taxation and alleviated our need to maintain our own in-house tax rules and logic.

What do you like best about the product?
Taxamo services our company's needs in a professional and bespoke manner. Their team is responsive to all level of service requests, and pro-active and informative on legislative developments. In the rare case that they don't know the answer, they have a deep network of local professionals to connect you with.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the interface/dashboard/reporting could use a bit of work, it is the most complete and accurate on the market. Their logic is precise, which is most important.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Taxamo as our key software for international Indirect Tax determination and reporting. The benefits from using the Taxamo software are countless, from their core/precise logic to their in-depth subject matter expertise and bespoke level of service.

Avoid. This customer of 3.5 years will be moving to a competitor after poor experience.
What do you like best about the product?
The checkout form is pretty good. Integrates with Stripe/PayPal etc. Backend admin dashboard is OK not amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unfortunately lots. Their compliance dashboard is basically broken. It shows you are hitting limits when you're not. I reported this a few years ago and we went around in circles for a couple of weeks before I gave up because the support staff don't understand the product.
Support is consistently poor. I've never been so frustrated by a supplier's attitude. They have no concept of customer service whatsoever. The company is only interested in enterprise level customers. All development seems to be outsourced, there is a serious deficit of technical knowledge within the company.
No notification emails whatsoever when something goes wrong. You are left in the dark.
What broke the camel's back was the latest incident when they stopped sending my server webhooks which totally broke my purchase workflow for 4 days. Repeatedly they claimed that this was due to an invalid SSL certificate chain while offering zero actual evidence that this was the case. In the end I spoke to the phone with one of the company's founders. It was basically "this is what my technical team are telling me, I can do no more". Well thanks a lot.
I certainly cannot recommend this company and will be moving to one of their competitors in 2020.

Vertex has been a very helpful resource in implementing current business solutions for a business in transition.

What do you like best about the product?
Vertex cloud is an intuitive software that has moved in with our current processed nicely. The reports and returns are great for saving time from our old way of compiling information for our sales tax returns.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have had issues with outages on the vertex side, where we have missed invoice jobs. These issues seem to be diminishing as we have been live now with the program for 4 months.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamlined reporting and generation of our sales tax returns. Adding tax to our invoice jobs that is up to date based on the vertex system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This software has done a fair job in moving us from paper reporting used to generate information to our returns, to having this automated month to month. This has saved us time especially when moving from 14 state filings to 44 state filings.
