Tax Engine on a global scale
What do you like best about the product?
Sophisticated content and very knowlegdeable staff

Sometimes slow internal processes to get to a satisfying answer

Multinational company with a big amount of tax rules
Great Product
What do you like best about the product?
Vertex O series is configured to handled standard data as well as providing flexiblity. Using flexible fields, tax assist rules, and lookup tables have allowed our business to configure our indirect calculations properly and provided detail reports for returns.
What do you dislike about the product?
More training is needed to better understand everything Vertex can do. Not necessarily a bad thing, however, if a cost is involved the company may not be happy to allow us to enrol.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are currently implementing Vertex O series after using Q series for many years. We have so many exceptions that the billing team has to manual calculate tax for TN, FL discretionary, out of city limits, etc. We are excited to fix these issues.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, so much helpful information.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not an experienced user but what I have heard in the sessions are tax certificate management and cumbersome reporting.

We do business in all 50 states so it helps us stay organized and provides vital filing information.

When connecting with the right resources guided in the right direction to the necessary solution.

Difficulty navigating the learning materials.

It is helping solve the associated sales tax for shipping and handling.
Reliable Except for Several New Issues
What do you like best about the product?
Vertex has been our mainstay for tax determination and calculation from SAP for several years. We like the ease of generating O-series reports for SUT and VAT reporting, and the tax area IDs in our SAP vendor and customer master automatically.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have had a positive experience mostly at first until the last couple of years when we stopped getting O-series logs for all of our transactions and the RFC_UPDATE call doesn't trigger at times, leaving lots of transactions with taxes not calculated. Thankfully, we have been able to connect with several talented individuals at Vertex who are now working on getting this rectified. However, the process for getting the fix identified has been slow and is still in progress.

Vertex classic cloud user
What do you like best about the product?
Vertex easily analyzes thousands of Accounts Payable invoices for sales tax calculations. It integrates well with our ERP program, Workday.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find Vertex classic cloud very limited in ability to allow manual entry for apportionment for national supplier invoices where some states tax service and others don't.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Company I work for only does use tax reporting. Once I exempt a supplier in Vertex after determining non taxable (most suppliers used are not taxable), Vertex eliminates from future sales/use tax calculations. This is helpful as I've got the suppliers Vertex analyzes in monthly integration down to 3-5 that need review for sales taxs implications.
