What is our primary use case?
My use case with GoAnywhere MFT differs from organization to organization. In my previous organization, the purpose of using GoAnywhere MFT was multiple—specifically, they were using it for automating user file transfers, which includes securely storing files that had to be protected. The system provides a folder in encrypted format, and the files at rest would also be encrypted, meaning only the authorized personnel can access and download them. In addition to this, there was a secure mail feature in GoAnywhere MFT that allowed transferring files of any size through email.
However, in my current organization, they primarily use it just for file transfers without storing the files.
What is most valuable?
The biggest improvement I've seen since using GoAnywhere MFT for three to four years is in security; control over our network security is the biggest factor to consider, and the solution automatically identifies and blocks attempts to attack our system. Additionally, the transfer speed is impressive; even if files are in GBs, it doesn't take much time to transfer, increasing our organization's efficiency significantly.
In my opinion, the best feature of GoAnywhere MFT is its user-friendly UI; it's very simple to use compared to other managed file transfer tools such as MOVEit and Axway, which are a bit more complicated.
While we don't use any connectors for services such as Salesforce, SharePoint Online, or MS365, GoAnywhere MFT does have the capability of connecting to these systems either through SFTP, HTTPS protocols, or API-based connections. The way it works here is different; we set up a resource-based connection to connect to various services such as SAP or Salesforce.
The range of connectors that GoAnywhere MFT provides out of the box is quite extensive; it covers everything from legacy tools that support AS2 connections to the latest services such as AWS and Azure Blobs.
I'm very satisfied with the connectivity options available in GoAnywhere MFT; they include everything you can think of, and as long as the system you want to connect to accepts connections, we can connect using AS2, AS4, and other cloud connectors.
In relation to the agents, they are crucial for extending MFT automation to remote systems. I've noticed that in my previous organization, agents were not used as we connected via network shares, which led to occasional connectivity issues. Now, using agents increases the file transfer speed by about 20 to 30%, and they provide a more stable connection compared to legacy network shares.
What needs improvement?
One area where GoAnywhere MFT has room for improvement is in how the application reports issues; when the application runs on a server and encounters problems, it doesn't provide detailed information on the server issues, which could help users troubleshoot better. Additionally, I've had experiences where support teams focused on upgrading to the latest version instead of addressing existing issues, which is concerning.
These server issues are the main concern; otherwise, the tool is smooth and easy to use.

I started using GoAnywhere MFT in March 2021, and now it's July, so I have been using it for four years and three to four months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
From one to ten, I would rate the stability of GoAnywhere MFT an 8.5 to nine.

As for scalability, I would say it has some issues, and I would rate it a 7.5 to eight, as sometimes it can be unpredictable.

Prior to using GoAnywhere MFT, I had experience with MOVEit and Axway. Compared to MOVEit, I feel that GoAnywhere MFT has more features and a better UI, although Axway does provide more API-based solutions.

The setup of GoAnywhere MFT is not complex, but I wouldn't categorize it as easy either. I would rate it as medium in terms of complexity.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a good return on investment with GoAnywhere MFT. Although I'm not exactly sure about the percentage, I would say the value we get corresponds well to what we invest.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Regarding pricing, I would categorize GoAnywhere MFT as an expensive solution; it's definitely not cheap.
What other advice do I have?
The machines are provided by Dell, but we manage the infrastructure ourselves; it's not related to any specific cloud provider such as Amazon, Azure, or GCP.
Approximately 1,200 to 1,300 users utilize GoAnywhere MFT in my organization. My organization is considered an enterprise business.
Regarding deployment time, it depends on how big the implementation is; at a minimum, it would take about 20 to 30 days to set up from scratch.
The solution does require some maintenance; this includes maintaining accumulated files that are no longer useful, which can involve manual intervention.
GoAnywhere MFT has saved me time in connecting securely with third parties that I need to collaborate with. I would estimate that it has saved me approximately 70 to 80% of the time.
We have multiple automations or processes running on different platforms, servers, or APIs. We typically have one server, and GoAnywhere MFT handles all of our file transfers and API usage; aside from that, we use another tool called PagerDuty for alert management.
On a scale of one to ten, I rate GoAnywhere MFT a 9.5.

The services of GoAnywhere are very good and reliable, providing us with an automation option to manage everything with effective solutions without encountering any errors in file transferring. All are working great, and the support team also has a responsive time for resolving any technical-related issues.

The system is user-friendly and has significantly helped us meet our goals, particularly in file transfer. It eliminates human errors and has improved our workflow overall. Additionally, it has increased the speed at which work is processed and transferred.

What is most valuable?
My favorite feature is team collaboration, whereby a team can do personal-to-personal file transfers. I appreciate how files are being transferred. Before a file is shared with anyone, there is a scanning process that takes place, and the file is securely shared without any problem or malware existing in the file. After deploying the GoAnywhere MFT solution, we saw its benefits immediately.
What I love about this system, from the administrator's perspective, is that we can view who has logged in, the time of their login, and their location. This feature provides valuable insight into tracking and understanding who is using the system at any given time.
What needs improvement?
The area where I would suggest improvement is on the pricing side. The pricing is not favorable sometimes when we use it for a few people. Even if we purchase additional licenses, no discount is given. If we are adding a license on the system, they should look at that and frame an affordable price for everyone, whereby everyone can access these prices effectively. This would give a view and a clue on how the system could run better on our side.

I have contacted the technical support. The part which is quick is the sales team. The sales team responds quickly compared to any part of the specialization on the system. I appreciate how fast they act. The support deserves an eight out of ten.

For file transfer, we have been using a tool called Folgo, which is embedded in Google Drive, and it has supported us in transferring bulky files.
How was the initial setup?
The deployment of GoAnywhere MFT was easy because we deployed the system on cloud. It took us around a period of 3 days because we had to talk to the expert of GoAnywhere MFT before we negotiated. As we were talking to the expert, the deployment started and we had to go step-by-step.
In terms of maintenance, it requires updates. Sometimes it slows down and requires updates.

Only one person is required for this type of deployment.

I've seen a return on investment of between 25% to 30% of the total amount of time saved.

The pricing of GoAnywhere MFT is affordable compared to other similar products. It's not expensive, according to me. What influenced my purchase decision was the fact that the product was quite affordable.

I would suggest giving it a trial because it's worth the time, as it will help save more time and reduce human effort during the file transfer process. Consider it even when the price seems high because it allows management of all file transfers from a centralized place, making it easy to access and manage files.
I would highly recommend the use of GoAnywhere MFT to any individual or organization because it enhances managed and secure file transfer processes between systems and with partners. Additionally, it's cost-effective, saving more time and money through file transfer automation, making it a more economical choice.

Translation of edi increases bot power.
What do you like best about the product?
For RPA developers, GoAnywhere's edi translation capability is fantastic. I don't need to write a lot of code to create bots that convert edi x12 files to json for our systems. My bots now communicate with legacy vendor systems thanks to the new Pesit capability, which is awesome. The scheduler is excellent; it allows me to trigger my bot transfers from other apps and performs them on a clock. Fips 140-2 encryption is used for sensitive data, and security is strict.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not perfect. It took me a day to map fields correctly because the edi setup is a little complicated. The interface is outdated and needs a makeover. Support is inconsistent; I once received a generic response that didn't resolve my problem. Some advanced features are more expensive, and the pricing is high for small teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It was difficult to handle edi files because my bots required specialized scripts that frequently malfunctioned. I was able to automate it with GoAnywhere's translation tools, so I created a bot that takes only a few minutes to process vendor orders. My bots operate without my constant supervision thanks to the scheduler and API. It has reduced development time and greatly increased the dependability of our supply chain bots.

goanywhere mft’s The new cloud connectors from mft are great for RPA developers like me. It's really quick for me to connect bots to Google Drive and Salesforce without having to write my own scripts. The drag-and-drop workflow builder is great; it only took me minutes to set up file transfers with triggers. Strong security, like AES encryption, keeps the data my bots move safe. The browser interface is simple, and I can keep an eye on bot jobs from anywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cloud connectors are great, but they don't work with all of my apps, like Slack. When I have a lot of workflows going at once, the interface can lag, which makes testing take longer. Support is helpful, but they're slow.

It was a mess when my bots had to use scripts that were hard to understand to move files between cloud apps before goanywhere. Plug-ins and workflows make it easy for me to automate tasks like backing up client data to drive. I made a bot that gets invoices from Salesforce and saves them in a secure folder. This saves hours of work that would have to be done by hand. It's made my RPA projects a lot safer and easier.

Earlier we had to write manul script and different tool that is very challenging tasks for us and time consuming process and hard to manage everything but with workflow automation and project designer that is helping us to automatic file transfer and the sheduler lets us run tasks at specific times, which keeps processes running smoothly even during off-hours. Audit Logs help us monitor every action for compliance and troubleshooting. We also use secure protocols like SFTP and FTPS to protect data during transfers. All of this has saved us a lot of time, reduced errors, and improved our overall file management process.
