Streamlined Enterprise Search with Robust Integrations
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that Upland BA Insight brings all my information into one unified platform, which significantly simplifies my work by allowing me to quickly find documents from various systems like SharePoint, Teams, and email without the need to switch apps. The intelligent search capability, powered by AI, enhances my experience by providing accurate recommendations and automatic tagging, making it easier to locate the right information even if it's hidden across different platforms. I love how Upland BA Insight connects all our data sources seamlessly, making knowledge discovery much more efficient for our team through features like relevance ranking and natural-language search. The ease with which Upland BA Insight integrates with other Upland products and the benefit of 95+ out-of-the-box connectors truly stand out, streamlining our operations and eliminating the need for constant app-switching. The smooth rollout process was another highlight, as it was low-code and well-documented, allowing us to get up and running quickly with the support team ready to assist whenever necessary. Overall, Upland BA Insight's capabilities have significantly boosted our productivity by just making everything more accessible and efficiently organized.
What do you dislike about the product?

I appreciate Upland BA Insight for its powerful integration capabilities that connect multiple enterprise systems, offering a unified and accessible search experience across various platforms. This is especially beneficial for tasks such as retrieving client-specific information dispersed across multiple repositories or quickly accessing project plans and contracts. Its ability to eliminate data silos by connecting to and indexing information from numerous applications and file systems, including both cloud and on-premises sources, is invaluable. Furthermore, the integration with major platforms like Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Amazon Web Services, and Elasticsearch highlights its versatility and enhances its functionality for enterprise AI search and knowledge management solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find Upland BA Insight's initial setup complex and costly, requiring significant IT involvement, which makes it challenging for basic users and a poor fit for smaller businesses. There are also the occasional performance issues, particularly when handling large datasets, which can slow down operations. The search functionality could be more accurate, and there is limited customization available. Additionally, the editor is less feature-rich compared to popular solutions like Microsoft Word.

While it’s a great tool, it sometimes feels a bit sluggish when handling large datasets. The customization options could also be improved to better fit specific business needs. A little more flexibility would go a long way!

I feel that the platform is great, but the initial setup was a bit complex and required more IT involvement than expected. Some integrations could be smoother, and response times in the UI are occasionally laggy.

Easy to Use
What do you like best about the product?
I really like it's integration with other upland products. It's easy to use with great customer support.

Compared to other platforms it does feel a bit outdated and lacks customisations.

Powerful indexing and federated search tools
What do you like best about the product?
Using BA Insight tools in both backend and frontend operations. These tools are incredibly powerful, easy to implement and robust, allowing us to seamlessly index from various sources to a centralized location including Gen AI (RAG) . Additionally, their SmartHub interface enables AI driven/federated search while maintaining user content/security, with no performance degradation on either end. SmartHub is capable to integrate/pull with different backend/sources.
Moreover, the support and service team at BA Insight is remarkably knowledgeable and always ready to assist. Their expertise in the search domain has been invaluable to us.

It would be highly beneficial to consider supporting Azure containers for solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
allows federator search by bringing content to central place from different source systems like servicenow, open text/documentum, sharepoint online and S3.
Smarthub Search implementation
What do you like best about the product?
- SmartHub was straightforward to implement and configure.
- Upland were able to implement a highly customised UI.

- Working across multiple timezones made things ocassionally challenging but we were able to work around this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Provides a customised search solution for our Global Intranet (approx 7000 users)
Good solution for our federated use case
What do you like best about the product?
We were able to integrate disparate systems: Oracle, Salesforce, O365, and web content in one standard user interface with one security integration (Entra ID)

There were a few servers required than initially planned for our implementation.

Brilliant customer service and an immensely powerful search tool
What do you like best about the product?
The engagement from BA Insight's customer service and development teams is second-to-none. They invested a bundle of time to understand our business problems, develop a potential solution, and then investigated configuring the tool to precisely meet out requirements.
The tool itself is also immensely powerful. We've only begun scratching the surface of what the search tool provides. We've connected in a customised OCR tool and developed a custom search experience for our users.

What do you dislike about the product?
Like with all technology solutions you get out what you put in. If you have a strong information governance framework and management process this tool will be a powerful way to navigate through your document repositories. But if your repositories are unstructured, it won't solve that problem for you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have lots of information spread across a number of different cloud repositories. Finding precedents, templates and good examples was very difficult. BA Insight allows us to straddle these different repositories in a unified search experience for our users.
