Single sign-on has transformed employee access and now streamlines secure onboarding

  • March 19, 2026
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

In my current job, we do rely a lot on Okta Platform but we are not using some more advanced features from them; we have some basic subscription with Okta Platform regarding the single sign-on product they offer.

In both my previous job and in this one, we are using it as our main identity provider for our employees to log in into as many apps as possible with it, just to keep things as secure as possible and provide a good employee experience. Instead of our employees having to remember a lot of passwords and credentials, they rely on one single Okta Platform account to access as many systems as possible.

We are not relying on Okta Platform to secure access to cloud infrastructure, APIs, centralized workloads, or AI/GenAI services in our architecture at this time. I know there are ways to leverage Okta Platform for securing APIs and servers, but we mostly rely on Okta Platform for human access.

We do have some service accounts that we rely on, but I wouldn't say we are using more advanced features from Okta Platform. We do use those service accounts to integrate with other platforms, but I understand that the question was mostly about more advanced features from Okta Platform.

Both in my current job and the previous one, we were in Fintech companies in the financial space. One of the reasons to go with Okta Platform is because they are a well-reputed company, providing some attestations such as SOC 2. We try to go with a reliable, reputable company that other companies in the same space tend to choose, so it's a no-brainer to go with Okta Platform.

What is most valuable?

Okta Platform is the gold standard when it comes to identity providers and the single sign-on experience. I haven't tested similar solutions or any of the competitors, but I'm happy that both companies I worked for decided to go with Okta Platform, which is the gold standard. Most documentation out there provided by other platforms that integrate with Okta Platform usually has an Okta Platform sample; they document how to integrate with Okta Platform, and they may not do the same for integrating with other platforms. Their documentation is pretty good, and there are some communities built around Okta Platform as well. I participate on the Mac Admins Slack, which is a large IT community with a few channels dedicated to Okta Platform products or services, and there is also an Okta Admins community with Okta Platform employees engaged. I appreciate that they build a community around their product, and I can reach out to them on these other channels instead of having to open a ticket with them.

They have good documentation and there are subject matter experts engaging in these communities, including some Okta Platform employees. Their user interface is pretty good.

Okta Platform certainly speeds up the onboarding and offboarding process for employees. When we onboard them, in most cases we only need to grant them their Okta Platform credentials and they will be all set with their accesses. It's also easy to add new apps; if someone joins the company and they have all the apps they need, but then someone requests access to some other app, it's easy to grant them access to that app without jumping through hoops. Similarly, when it comes to offboarding, we know that deactivating their Okta Platform account is removing the keys to everything they have access to. In my current company, we don't have the lifecycle management product by Okta Platform, which automates the provisioning of users across platforms, but I used that at my previous job and it was a time-saving feature.

What needs improvement?

I have my own wish list of things that I would like Okta Platform to have. They released some features related to device access, such as Okta Device Access, which is an add-on that requires payment. I would expect Okta Platform to include more features over time in their less expensive subscriptions. I wish Okta Workflows could be included in a better way; we currently only have five workflows available, which doesn't provide much value. More workflows available in a paid subscription would be beneficial.

With AI permeating every service, I would like to have some kind of AI chatbot available on Okta Platform interface to ask questions about Okta Platform and how to integrate things. I relied on Google's AI chatbot to ask similar questions, but I would feel more confident asking them to an Okta Platform AI bot. I think someone mentioned there may be something coming from Okta Platform related to this.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Okta Platform for about five or six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't had any crashes, downtimes, or performance issues with Okta Platform; it has been very reliable for us.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would think Okta Platform is easy to scale; we are a small company, but we're growing and adding new employees regularly. I haven't faced any significant scalability issues yet, but I believe Okta Platform can be scaled easily.

How are customer service and support?

I have opened some tickets with Okta Platform customer support, but I often prefer to dive into documentation or reach out to relevant communities instead to find answers quickly. We do have access to their support, but I find it sometimes slower than engaging with knowledgeable people in those communities.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Okta Platform's technical support around an eight or nine. I've only opened a few tickets, and I have had a good experience receiving answers.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I didn't use any different product previously and didn't evaluate other solutions available in the market. We relied on Google for some single sign-on features but I haven't implemented Google's SAML solution in a broad way.

How was the initial setup?

In my previous job, I was kind of in charge of deploying Okta Platform to the entire company. I took a three-day training from Okta Platform, which helped transition me from being a non-believer to a believer in Okta Platform. Deployment was quite a challenge, but taking that training made a difference. In my current job, they already had a contract in place with Okta Platform, but the deployment was easier because we were primarily using the single sign-on feature and adaptive MFA; it was a simpler deployment overall.

What about the implementation team?

We went directly with Okta Platform and didn't go through partners or any marketplace for purchasing it.

What was our ROI?

I would think there are measurable improvements on our security and operational costs just by relying on Okta Platform. We're a small startup, and we aren't measuring these things closely, but I would think there are improvements due to our use of Okta Platform.

I don't have specific data points to share regarding ROI, as I am not much into hard data. Maybe I could get some numbers from colleagues or my manager eventually, but right now I don't have an answer for this.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding my experience with the pricing aspect, I am not much into the pricing side of things, but I think Okta Platform is not an expensive company for the service they provide. We don't have Okta Workflows or Lifecycle Management due to cost, but the value we get from Okta Platform makes it a non-expensive expense for us.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I didn't use any different product previously and didn't evaluate other solutions available in the market.

What other advice do I have?

I have my own wish list of things that I would like Okta Platform to have.

They have good documentation and there are subject matter experts engaging in these communities, including some Okta Platform employees. Their user interface is pretty good.

I would rate this review a 10 out of 10.

Single sign-on has unified access and saves hours in onboarding for all our applications

  • March 14, 2026
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Okta Platform is single sign-on.

As a specific example of how I use Okta Platform for email sign-on in my organization, we log in to our browser and then enter our username and password, and then we receive a Google Authenticator code, a six-digit code which we enter, and then we can log in.

What is most valuable?

Okta Platform offers features that allow you to log in to multiple applications, including GitLab, Looker, Workday, and many more with single sign-on.

Out of those applications, single sign-on is the feature I find most valuable because it saves a significant amount of time for the user. If any new user is onboarded into the company, instead of giving them access to all the applications individually, we add them into the Okta Platform group and that is all that is needed. They can access all the company-based applications within approximately one minute.

Okta Platform has positively impacted our organization as it eliminates the manual intervention work of providing access to new users who join the company to multiple applications. Instead of that process, providing access to Okta Platform allows them to access all our applications. The time saved is approximately two to three hours.

What needs improvement?

I do not see any bugs or improvements needed in Okta Platform because it functions perfectly, and I have not faced any issues with Okta Platform in my career.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Okta Platform for seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Okta Platform is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Okta Platform's scalability is good.

How are customer service and support?

I have not faced any issues, so I have never contacted customer support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not previously use a different solution before Okta Platform.

How was the initial setup?

I have not set up Okta Platform in my organization because when I joined, it was already deployed.

What about the implementation team?

There is no specific team mentioned for the implementation.

What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment because only a few people are required to manage Okta Platform, and it saves a significant amount of time for us, approximately four to five hours.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is no information provided regarding the setup cost.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

There is no mention of any alternate solutions being considered.

What other advice do I have?

If you are looking for single sign-on, then Okta Platform is the best option; you can confidently go with it.

Okta Platform could be a little faster. I have given this solution an overall rating of 10 out of 10.

Single secure login has simplified daily access and strengthened multi-factor protection

  • March 09, 2026
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

Okta Platform is a cloud-based identity and access management solution, so I mostly use it to provide secure and centralized access to my applications by managing user identities and authentication processes.

I generally use Okta Platform to manage secure access to enterprise applications including cloud and cloud GSP, and to gain access to cloud services or internal systems. I mostly use some features including Single Sign-On (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA). I use them for lifecycle management and integration of various cloud applications.

I generally use Okta Platform because it simplifies my identity management and improves security. I believe it saves us time in terms of development and other areas. When I try to log in and do my work, before using Okta Platform, it used to take considerable time, starting with trying to log in once and then logging in to every application that is in my VDI. It generally tends to take a lot of time, and our thinking capability also differs slightly when we are trying to log in through different applications and attempt to do our fundamental logic work.

What is most valuable?

Okta Platform offers several valuable features. The first one is Single Sign-On, which allows users to log in once and gain access to multiple applications without needing to enter credentials repeatedly. I believe that is one of the best features. The second one is multi-factor authentication (MFA). It adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to verify their identity through multiple methods such as a password and a mobile verification code. I use it mostly to manage secure access to enterprise applications and cloud services. Other features include user lifecycle management and integration with cloud applications.

I myself have relied mostly on multi-factor authentication (MFA) because I tend to log in every day and whenever I am working or take a break, I use this multi-factor authentication to sign in.

Okta Platform simplifies identity management, improves security, and allows employees to access multiple applications through a single secure login. I believe this is a very good feature.

Okta Platform has improved our organization through user authentication with features like Single Sign-On and multi-factor authentication. I believe the features it provides simplify identity management, improve security, and fulfill the need for secure and centralized identity and access management.

What needs improvement?

Okta Platform could improve its administrative interface and make some configuration processes simpler for many users. Okta Platform tends to become more complex with more complex functions. The complexity increases with the complexity of the functions that we receive. It could use better documentation and onboarding experience for new users. Some advanced configurations require deeper technical knowledge. Clearer guides would help organizations implement features faster. While Okta Platform is a strong identity management platform, improvements could be made by simplifying integrations and providing more intuitive configuration options for administrators.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Okta Platform since the beginning of my corporate career, for around one year and two months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Okta Platform is very stable in terms of stability. For enterprise-related identity and access management, Microsoft Entra ID and Ping Identity offer strong SSO, MFA, and governance features, ideal for complex organizations. JumpCloud and OneLogin would suit SMBs with software SSO and device management needs.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Okta Platform is highly scalable because it is at an enterprise level. Microsoft Entra ID, which is Azure AD, grows easily with large organizations and strong cloud infrastructure. Ping Identity is designed for large enterprises and complex environments. SailPoint is an excellent solution for scaling identity and governance. It is very flexible and developer-friendly. Auth0 scales well with applications and customer identity use cases. Keycloak is another option if you want to self-host and manage infrastructure.

How are customer service and support?

Okta Platform has incredible customer support. I have never faced an issue with it to begin with. If we were to face an issue, I think it would be handled really well.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not used any other different solution before Okta Platform because this is the first company that I have worked for.

Initially, my project used ZITADEL, which is an open-source IAM cloud-native alternative. It emphasizes open standards and passwordless login. It works with SSO, MFA, OIDC, and OAuth support, and integrated dev tooling. It was a developer-friendly tool, but we ended up choosing Okta Platform right before I onboarded to this project.

How was the initial setup?

Okta Platform protects non-human identities such as secure accounts, APIs, and automated applications. It provides secure authentication mechanisms and access policies to ensure that only authorized systems can interact with enterprise resources.

What about the implementation team?

GenAI services can be used with Okta Platform to enhance security monitoring and automate identity management tasks. It can help analyze login patterns, detect anomalies, and assist administrators in responding to potential security threats more quickly.

What was our ROI?

The return on investment comes from reduced time spent on password-related support requests. With Single Sign-On and automated identity management, employees can access applications faster while IT teams spend less time handling authentication issues. I think it is a very good return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Okta Platform is on the costlier side because it is considered competitive for enterprise identity management solutions. Although it may seem slightly expensive at first, the security features, reliability, and ease of integration provide good value for the investment.

The licensing cost mostly depends on the number of users and the features required. While licensing cost may be higher compared to alternatives, the security capabilities and reliability make it a worthwhile investment. Currently, we have not faced any issue and it was fairly smooth.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

For enterprise-related identity and access management, Microsoft Entra ID and Ping Identity offer strong SSO, MFA, and governance features, ideal for complex organizations. JumpCloud and OneLogin would suit SMBs with software SSO and device management needs.

What other advice do I have?

I would highly recommend Okta Platform because it gives you access to Single Sign-On (SSO) and multi-factor authentication. These two features cover most of the market value. Nobody else has both of these features. If we were to look for alternatives other than this, I would not recommend them because even though it is on a costly side, it would eventually balance out with the features that they provide. I would recommend it because as a developer, you would not want to remember multiple passwords, go to different applications, and try to enter your password. Those kinds of things could be avoided, so I would highly recommend this product.

If I were to consider security improvement, after implementing Okta Platform, we observed improved security through multi-factor authentication and centralized identity. This significantly reduced unauthorized access attempts and lowered the number of password-related security incidents.

I give this product a rating of ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Single sign-on has simplified access and lifecycle management for all corporate applications

  • February 07, 2026
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

It is for Single Sign-on and Multi-Factor Authentication.

What is most valuable?

It is very easy to log in to all my various corporate accounts through Okta Platform. This helps me because I do not need to have any password. I just simply log into Okta Platform which has a single sign-on capability.

This helps us whenever our employees, our new employees come into the company. On first login, when they come into the company, they have access to all our corporate accounts already once they have their corporate account. They can log into their various productivity and corporate applications. This helps ease the burden from our IT support team to have to onboard someone manually. When someone leaves the company, having an IT team have to remove their access one by one is a very difficult process. Okta Platform Lifecycle Management helps us offboard those employees who have left the company more easily.

What needs improvement?

It would be great if there were a way to save even my social media passwords and other passwords through Okta Platform and single sign-on through Okta Platform in the future. I do not think they have this capability just yet.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this for six years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

There were some alternatives like JumpCloud and Ping Identity that we were evaluating. However, since we are a partner, we prefer Okta Platform. There is a bias towards Okta Platform.

How was the initial setup?

I would say the setup difficulty was in the middle, depending on circumstances. For us, it was quite simple because we had everything in place. We just needed to integrate the Single Sign-on and the directory with our Google Workspace or our current IDP. It was pretty straightforward and took a couple of days.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding pricing, as mentioned, we are a partner, so we do get a special big discount as a partner versus other customers.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

There were some alternatives like JumpCloud and Ping Identity that we were evaluating.

What other advice do I have?

Okta Platform is a great product and one of the best. We are a partner and have been using it for six years. We have four engineers on our team. We do not use the PAM and do not need it. I would rate this product nine out of ten.

Secure access to cloud accounts has streamlined authentication and supports flexible MFA recovery

  • December 12, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

I have been using Okta Workforce Identity for single sign-on purposes to identify and authenticate my identity and access resources at AWS. Whenever I want to connect to Amazon Web Services, I provide a particular CLI Okta command, which opens a window where I am redirected to Okta Workforce Identity's single sign-on page. I authenticate myself through mobile, and once that authentication is completed, I am able to access a particular account according to the role that I have configured in the CLI command.

What is most valuable?

The best features that Okta Workforce Identity offers are single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and privileged access management. It has reduced the time required for authentication and provided a secured way of accessing the Amazon web console.

What needs improvement?

The user interface could be enhanced to allow direct number selection for multi-factor authentication instead of typing out information.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Okta Workforce Identity for two years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Ping, but I find Okta to be more reliable with a great user interface.

What was our ROI?

Time saved is a great example of return on investment. It has saved approximately 50 to 80 percent of our time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing and licensing setup is typical, and since it follows a per-user, per-month subscription model, it is helpful.

What other advice do I have?

One of my team members lost his phone and was unable to do a direct Okta Workforce Identity login. At that time, email multi-factor authentication was useful and helped him to get logged into Okta Workforce Identity and authenticate himself. I do not see any areas for improvement as Okta Workforce Identity is at its best level currently. Okta Workforce Identity is reliable, and its user experience and user interface are great. I would recommend Okta Workforce Identity to others. My overall experience using Okta Workforce Identity has been excellent. I have given this review a rating of ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Has improved secure access through single sign-on and adaptive authentication for onboarding and application integration

  • October 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We are providing identity access management to the customers with Okta Customer Identity, and then application integration, user onboarding, and related functions.

I'm a senior consultant using Okta Customer Identity.

We are the implementers of Okta Customer Identity as users.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Okta Customer Identity is the application interface with SSO. Integration with SSO helps us make use of the credentials. Once we log in, we get the opportunity to explore many applications within the organization with the same login, with no need to log in again.

Adaptive authentication in Okta Customer Identity is a flexible feature that is very secure and user-friendly. The authentication is more complex for man-in-the-middle attacks while remaining useful for end users.

Okta Customer Identity's API gives a clear view of how user onboarding takes place, so we can easily configure with Postman. We can onboard and off-board users, which is very flexible through the APIs.

Regarding multi-factor authentication, it helps reduce unauthorized access in our organization. We are using passwordless authentication with Okta FastPass on mobile devices. Users can get authenticated with two-factor authentication, first entering the password, then directly using the second factor authentication with Okta FastPass.

What needs improvement?

It is complex when adding it for the first time to users of Okta Customer Identity. For end-users and new users, it can be complex to use.

Okta Customer Identity analytics and reporting tools do not help much to improve customer engagement strategies.

Training should be provided to novice users. There are multiple online learning resources in the Okta documentation part, which users can access free of charge.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Okta Customer Identity for six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are no doubts regarding the stability of Okta Customer Identity. It is scalable and we can directly make use of this tool.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

How was the initial setup?

The setup for Okta Customer Identity is straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of Okta Customer Identity is acceptable.

What other advice do I have?

For those planning to use Okta Customer Identity, MSA and SSO are among the best features that can be recommended for users. We also have direct integration with Active Directory. There are many features that will be helpful for organizations to easily integrate applications and manage user onboarding and off-boarding.

The solution is deployed on the cloud and I did not purchase it through AWS Marketplace. I usually buy for the entire organization.

I rate Okta Customer Identity 10 out of 10.

Has improved secure access to all applications through a single login point

  • September 30, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Our main use case for Okta Customer Identity is that all of our in-house applications are under Okta. A user or customer has to log in to Okta Customer Identity and then they can access the application. It serves as our main SSO application which we are using.

What is most valuable?

The main features of Okta Customer Identity that I find most valuable are its security and easy accessibility.

We are using the self-service feature in Okta Customer Identity for almost one year now. Previously, it was not configured, but now we are using it.

We find Okta Adaptive Authentication useful as whatever feature we feel should be implemented and beneficial for users, we have implemented it. We use multi-factor authentication and it is 100% implemented. Multi-factor authentication is also useful for the security part for us.

The report functionality is another important part of Okta Customer Identity; we might need to check logs and other things. The report part is very much useful. I am 100% satisfied with the customizable options in Okta reporting features. This is a very good feature, and it is 100% implemented, so I do not want any changes because it is working as expected.

What needs improvement?

Stability and the UI/UX of Okta Customer Identity are fine as they are; I do not see any need for improvement in those areas.

From the user perspective, everything is good and no change is needed. I do not think any biometrical features for authentication or limitations from Okta Customer Identity on request systems can be added at this moment.

Some users face challenges after upgrades. Whenever we upgrade Okta Customer Identity, there is no challenge or blocker from Okta Customer Identity. However, I have seen cases where there might be issues with InTune or JumpCloud due to sync delays from their end; Okta Customer Identity was fine at that moment.

After Okta Customer Identity made an upgrade process, we had some challenges with the integration of Okta Customer Identity and Jamf. The only issue with Okta Customer Identity is after the upgrade process; we have some issues with the integration between Okta Customer Identity and Jamf. The only point for improvement is the upgrade process.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Okta Customer Identity for more than three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Okta Customer Identity a 10 out of 10 for stability; it is the best.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability part of Okta Customer Identity is fine, there is no blocker and we can upgrade whenever we need.

How are customer service and support?

Okta Customer Identity's technical support is fine; they help to fix tickets within the timeline and their support is very good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup process for Okta Customer Identity is simple.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I do not think there are other competitors to Okta Customer Identity in the market. In my previous company, we tried to switch from Okta Customer Identity to some other SSO authentication method, but we did not find anything relevant. We kept going with Okta Customer Identity.

What other advice do I have?

We discontinued the license for Barista and have moved to Workato Genie. We implemented Workato Genie around six months ago. It is required for the sales team, and they purchased some licenses for the sales and marketing team in the US. We have configured that for IT as well. There can be multiple Genies according to the requirement. If you ask something for the Genie, there is a global Genie and it can redirect that task to the relevant Genie for sales, IT, HR, and other things.

We are not using Google except G Suite. We have some licenses for ChatGPT, but that is not for IT requirements. We are still using AWS, Okta Customer Identity, and Jamf; these are our main core business applications.

The main benefits Okta Customer Identity provides to users include single point of login for all applications and single authentication, which saves time and reduces frustration. If something is not working, users just open a ticket with the Okta team instead of reaching out to other application owners or POCs.

I give Okta Customer Identity a rating of 10 out of 10.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Focus on seamless integration and advanced security management enhances application usage and threat detection across multiple countries

  • March 25, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We are an advertising company with around 400 employees in four different countries: Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Brazil. We have implemented Okta Customer Identity to enforce security in our applications and ensure all users access them securely. We use Okta Customer Identity for various applications like Office 365 and several other applications essential to our business.

What is most valuable?

Okta Customer Identity focuses on providing top-notch identity management solutions. One of its most valuable features is its easy integration with various applications through its extensive application directory, offering hundreds or thousands of applications ready to configure. This integration is significantly easier compared to Microsoft Entra ID, where we encountered numerous issues. We particularly value its real-time reporting capabilities. For example, we detected cyberattacks from countries like Russia and Asia and were able to block those IP addresses and configure our system for more security. These advanced security features and reporting capabilities make it easy to manage.

What needs improvement?

Okta Customer Identity is continuously improving its solution. Since we started using it in 2019, we have observed numerous enhancements to increase security.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Okta Customer Identity for more than five years in our company.

How are customer service and support?

We had an issue a couple of years ago that was swiftly resolved by the support team, showing their efficiency. They also offer a comprehensive knowledge base on their website, which is very helpful for addressing any issues or queries.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We evaluated Microsoft Entra ID but chose Okta Customer Identity because it is easier to integrate with various applications. Microsoft Entra ID presented many challenges and it was more difficult to manage integration processes.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Okta Customer Identity is straightforward due to its well-architected solution. It is intuitive and user-friendly for administrators to manage.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Okta Customer Identity is expensive compared to other solutions, but we believe the investment is justified given the rising cybersecurity threats. Despite the cost, it's cheaper than the potential financial loss from a security breach.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Microsoft Entra ID.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate Okta Customer Identity a ten. Okta Customer Identity is solely focused on identity management, which makes them excel in this area.

Provides robust identity and access management with seamless integration across hybrid setups

  • February 17, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use Okta for identity and access management for our internal services, cloud services or applications (SaaS). We have a hybrid setup since we have a global workforce, so we unify our IAM services.

What is most valuable?

The most useful features of Okta for my organization are identity and access management, single sign-on, and the flexibility for hybrid setups.

Okta enables multi-factor authentication, which enhances security, especially for SaaS applications. The integration capabilities of Okta are very flexible, with multiple protocols that can be integrated, especially for single sign-on. Any API can also be added, making it mature in terms of integrating with other identity providers, particularly Active Directory or Azure Entra ID.

What needs improvement?

Okta should have at least a local presense for countries that align with or comply with GDPR or data sovereignty, so there are no compliance or audit questions. There are integration issues with Office 365; such as groups not updating correctly in Okta. Okta should work on resolving them.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been in the organization for one year, and it has been more than three years now that Okta has been used.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

As long as you have Internet connection, there are no issues with the stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Okta is scalable and reliable, with no downtime or service disruption encountered over the years.

How are customer service and support?

My team contacts Okta support for increased integration requirements. They are very supportive; they just open a ticket, and they support us very professionally.

How was the initial setup?

The setup process is pretty straight-forward, having experience with different single sign-on (SSO) and identity access management, I can manage the setup process with ease. Okta provides clear guidelines and documentations as well.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing for Okta is reasonably not that much, however, I don't have access to the commercial aspect.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend evaluating your environment first. If you have a global workforce or you need flexibility and higher visibility on your identity and access management (IAM) and SSO, Okta is a good solution. My total rating for Okta is ten out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

I am just an end user of the product, so I don't know how the product is used in remote force management in our company. I use the product to help me log on to our company's security systems.

What is most valuable?

When I was traveling, I could get my OTPs through the tool's app, through my cell phone number or via an SMS,which makes it a flexible product. The tool is helpful even in areas involving emails. It is possible to use the product in another country and add an extra layer of security to it, proving that it can be a really secure platform.

What needs improvement?

I use the tool at a low level, so it does what I need it to do for me.

The product does not offer enough integration capabilities. I want the tool to provide more integration capabilities in the future.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Okta Workforce Identity for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is an easily scalable solution. When it comes to the scalability features, the product has many options for people in different countries, offices, and remote locations.

I believe that there are around 1,500 users of the tool in my company.

How are customer service and support?

I did contact the product's support team when my password got locked out. I could even reset the whole password from Okta easily through the tool's internal app. The support team was good.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase is straightforward.

The solution is deployed on the cloud since it is used at a company-wide level in South Africa.

What about the implementation team?

Though I am not sure, I feel that during the implementation phase, my company did seek the help of a consultant and our organization's in-house team.

What was our ROI?

In terms of benefits offered by the product, I can say that the tool has centralized our company's security and internal policies while ensuring that we stay compliant so that the users stay protected. With the product in place, no phishing attacks or any other types of attacks can cause a problem since it is a secure platform.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Though I don't know about the licensing model of the product, I wouldn't be surprised if Okta offers a per user license subscription model.

What other advice do I have?

The employee onboarding process is okay if you use Okta Workforce Identity.

The SSO feature offered by the product is good, easy to use, and user-friendly. The tool also has a password manager as well.

The tool's MFA part comes as one of the strongest features of the product.

I feel that it is a good platform with a good security layer, especially when you are scaling out your business, and you have to manage a lot of areas.

I ate the tool a ten out of ten.
