Keeps getting better!
What do you like best about the product?
One of the key features of Anaplan is its accessibility. With a cloud-based platform, all you need is a browser and internet connection. Also, the anaplan community is really open to user ideas, making the platform improve in many ways.
What do you dislike about the product?
It usually requires more space when dealing with a large quantity of data. But with the new Anaplan Polaris technology, I hope it can help resolve to deal with such big data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem with sparsity, Anaplan is addressing this with the Anaplan Polaris technology and I am really excited to try it to our models and see what it can do.

Very flexible and powerful platform
What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility to model almost any business planning process at scale

Proper configuration requires a very good implementer
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
End to end S&OP in an industry that doesn't fit into the classical S&OP mold.
Anaplan is a strong multi-dimensional modeling platform for large and complex data sets
What do you like best about the product?
Most of my engagements on Anaplan have been around financial planning with very large and complex data sets. Anaplan's ability to allow you to slice, dice and join data to calculate forecasts is something I haven't seen on any other platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
The top issue I have with Anaplan is the 'clunkiness' of the UX. While a lot of progress has been made since it's inception in 2018-2019, it continues to be sluggish when it comes to loading pages. Users also complain about the "model is busy" message that doesn't tell them why it's busy. In the classic UX you could see the name of the person who is tying up the model -- aka the "toaster" -- but that doesn't appear in the UX.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my current engagement, we are using Anaplan to create both Current Quarter and Long-Term Forecasts for Orders, Revenue and Margin for a large Telecom company. We have over 30 data sets that are used in order to do this, meaning that Anaplan is being used to slice, dice and join these data sets to allow us to forecast. This includes Salesforce data, Oracle data, contract data, transit time data and numerous others. I can't even count how many spreadsheets and manual processes we are replacing with this model.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the most about Anaplan is the customization capability and ease of development and usage. You can build anything and everything using your imagination and modeling skill sets. Anaplan has transformed the way connected planning solutions are thought through and developed.
Anaplan always keeps up with new features and requirements needed to keep the tool most up to date... new functionalities like Polaris engine, Workflow, DMS are a testimony to that fact.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it feels an overkill that certain functionalities are unavailable in Anaplan, and everything has to be developed through a custom code. Things like Delta functionality, more robust auditing capabilities, drill-through capabilities, and model locking are some of the things which come to mind.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
From a developer perspective, Anaplan provides endless possibilities to offer solutions to the client per outlined requirements. It's the next-gen EPM solution to cater to all the different use cases and Business areas in the organization.

Nothing to dislike about the Anaplan tool.

Anaplan is an extremely powerful tool that helps organizations break down once siloed/fragmented business functions, streamlining their planning processes and leading to real-time insights that help drive business goals. The platform's flexibility and ability to be customized to specific requirements make the platform suitable for multiple use cases and not tailed to only solve one business need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan's flexibility can also lead to downsides should the organization not correctly capture requirements that align with the business process they are trying to enable. As Anaplan can be configured in multiple ways, without the proper planning & SI the platform can be configured in ways that may lead to performance issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan helps enable connected planning within an organization, breaking down once siloed functions and leading to faster, more accurate insights that help align tops down (corporate goals) to bottoms up (field planning).

Here are the downsides of Anaplan:
- Workspace capacity constraints
- Limitation to combining the hierarchies to manage the sparsity which results in the application not being user friendly

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan is solving complex business problems. It gives the capability to perform scenario planning/sensitivity analysis with the critical business drivers that could have a significant impact on the business in uncertain times. It gives management powerful insights for making the right decisions at the right time. This is one platform that orchestrates all the functions in the organization.

The classic dashboard looks like it's from the 80s, but the new UX has too many restrictions.
