Powerful, Scalable, Customizable Business Planning Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is highly customizable and can solve varied business problems. As an implementation consultant, this allows me to not only solve for current business needs but also help end-users think about any future issues they can solve with the tool. It helps drive consistency between disparate business groups and easily scales alongside the business, and is easy to pick up for both users and system administrators.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it can handle enormous volumes of data, there is still room to improve calculation scaling. However, similar to Excel, since it is highly flexible, the problems typically stem from not following best practices rather than actual problems with the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan is helping businesses solve many problems, including consolidating disparate business processes, eliminating inconsistent spreadsheets, and bringing together various planning groups. In addition, it supports use cases (FP&A, SPM, Supply Chain) across nearly all enterprise business functions. I've been a part of several successful implementations and see many more down the road, both with current and new users.
Great collaborative planning tool for connected planning
What do you like best about the product?
Fully customizable multi-dimensional tool, build up from scratch or start from a pre-built model. Enables collaboration and presents data real time. Granular control of access and auditability.
What do you dislike about the product?
Whereas Anaplan is a planning tool it also has reporting capabilities. Having worked with Anaplan for a few years I can see the enhancements done on this space but would want to see further improvements

FP&A Use cases, worforce planning, synergy tracking, Insurance and Banking planning models.

What do you like best about the product?
Powerful and easy-to-use platform. Developers and end-users can easily adapt to the system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited capability in integrating to other systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Anaplan for FP&A, forecasting, and reporting. Anaplan helps us to improve team collaboration and speed up our processes and reporting.
Anaplan is a great business friendly tool that can save you from Excel
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is a cloud based tool that can be access from any web browser and even mobile devices. It can store billions of data points and has native security and user access management capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan can relatively be implemented incorrectly making the tool slow and unusable. This leads to the need of an Anaplan expert to help develop the initial application to ensure that the overall architecture is built sustainaby.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most Anaplan implementations help teams get out of the pains of Excel. I have used Anaplan for FP&A, Project Planning, Inventory Planning, and Territory and Quota Planning.

Customizability and the performance of the calculation engine
What do you dislike about the product?
High learning curve. Not very user friendly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used Anaplan to create models for sales planning. It enables consolidation of planning data.

What do you like best about the product?
Fast processing and suited for collaboration. Easily customizable to a company's finance processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit expensive due to its per-GB/ workspace charging, but you are paying for a quality product that processes quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've solved a lot of finance processes involving product costing, transfer pricing and coming up with a rolling forecast. I was able to customize Anaplan to suit the exact business case.

Consider your long term plans because Anaplan can help with a road map of digitization of many processes.

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is great at automating many of the manual less productive tasks within a company's planning process. Business users can now spend more time analyzing the business insights rather than simply trying to organize and gather the data.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with any software tool like this, it can be challenging to implement if the existing data integrity and infrastructure is not already cleansed and ready for system use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan is helping the business resolve underlying process issues and given the SMEs the time and thought to rethink existing processes and how they can be transformed.

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is great because it is highly customizable and not out of the box, making it ideal for enterprise-level companies.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan can be time-consuming from the customer side to implement, especially for gathering requirements and testing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving for end to end sales operation planning. Benefits include global standardization, reduction in planning time, and quick responses to changes.
A very flexible and powerful tool
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that Anaplan can be tailored to almost any type of business problem is fantastic. This makes it a great tool for almost any use case. The tool is also very powerful and I have built calculations that would have taken hours to run in legacy systems which are more or less 'instantly' (make a change, takes about 1 second to flow through) processed. I'm talking HUGE corporate processes and things like that.
What do you dislike about the product?
Constant size considerations, Anaplan is best when those adopting it are willing to look into streamlining their business processes and move forward. If you are constantly forced to be calculating and reporting at the lowest level detail for everything and there is no room for improvement or viewing anything at a higher level, Anaplan will require additional space considerations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems I have solved with Anaplan run the gamete of corporate use cases, from Biopharma to Oil and Gas. It really can do anything. The biggest benefit in my humble opinion is the time savings realized by using Anaplan. Employees can focus on other more important tasks versus constantly trying to compile data for forecasts as Anaplan removes a lot of this legwork.
