Integrations and custom reporting helped us drive free trial conversions

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Marketo and Intercom integrations saved our marketing teams a ton of time segmenting leads based on level of engagement.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dashboards were challenging to navigate at first. We needed the highest level KPIs to report at the stakeholder level, and our reports were too complex for the team to understand at a glance. I wish we could have simple metric widgets based on our data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Free trial conversion tracking was much faster to set up and analyze using Heap over our previous tech stack. The integration with Marketo and Intercom allowed us to segment and target leads based on behavior. The most significant benefit was time saved.

Like the easy way to tag and start to measure. Love the auto capture eventes, best part of Heap.
What do you dislike about the product?
The graphs could be better with more tags and be more dynamic. Also, the way of creat informs sometimes i feel like its just quickly review. I have to check mi app data in other platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The way or users navigate throw our tools and how retention works

Strong analytics platform for front-end metrics

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Availability of historical data for retroactive analysis
- Easy dashboard building
- Some strong pre-built charts and graphs
What do you dislike about the product?
- An increasing emphasis on wizard-like functionality for analysis
- Some persistent front-end bugs (eg randomly rearranging the order of charts in a dashboard)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Quick views of key front end metrics
- Helpful funnel views for conversion events
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use this if you are looking for quick and easy front-end analytics. Look elsewhere if there is a heavy back-end requirement for what you are trying to do.

Great analytics tool!

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The auto-capture feature and the overall ease of use. Reporting and dashboard tools are very powerful. Most of the time, it is very easy to define an event to track.
What do you dislike about the product?
The breadth and depth of features can be overwhelming. Sometimes hard to define an event if the page uses nested javascript tagging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved events tracking and trends and realized room for improving user onboarding and retention. Also provide agility to the product and the leadership to generate analysis reporting without needing to consume precious development time.

New to analytics, but Heap make it easier.

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the user interface. Lots of helpful tips along the way, and overall good organization to the content.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm new to using an analytics tool, so it does feel like a lot. A little overwhelmed by the possibilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm trying to figure out how to decrease drop-off rate from one page to another. No benefits yet as I'm still learning the tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the Heap University courses. They are well done and will help you understand how to use Heap.

The support is not great when you need help with something.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's an excellent tool for certain things. There are things they could work on; however, overall, it's a fantastic product.

One of the best analytics tools available!

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap gives our company a snapshot of device usage across our core product offerings so that customer service, user research, product design and all departments may benefit from quantitative insights in addition to the qualitative user feedback we collect. Customizable overviews of metrics combined with comprehensive reports gives our company a detailed overview of user data and usage in as broad or as defined of a scope as we needed according to our project goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish users were given more options in terms of organizing keywords and filters using Heap - as it stands right now the operators and values within the filtering system are fairly comprehensive as "logical operators" but might be expanded upon to get to the nitty gritty details for custom-run reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are launching and looking at Covid-specific data tracking initiatives in our reports such as tracking page views and click throughs to covid resource pages and URLs and observing resource funnels. Additionally, we are tracking DAU and WAU with unique users performing events being tracked.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
None

What do you like best about the product?
Heap has been crucial to our product team and the success of our growing customer base
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of any issues; it's seamless in what we use it for every day
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to analyze our traffic and metrics in real time has been integral in deciding what parts of the product to push and where we need to improve. We have deliverables that are derived directly from our Heap metrics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need analytics this is the app for you.

Super helpful, takes time to learn

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap shows you what your users are doing in a way that doesn't feel too invasive. Once you understand how to use it, it's powerful.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes time to learn and there is some lingo/ jargon that you need to know (mostly web dev stuff) to use it effectively. They have great learning tools, but you have to be willing to put in the time to learn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are investigating how our users interact with our product and especially how we can improve our new user conversion. We have been able to pinpoint moments when we lose people and make product improvements that are backed by evidence.

Heap has been a game changer for our marketing and product teams!

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This has been one of the best out-of-the-box analytics tools I've ever used. Forget Google Analytics/Fullstory. This is a complete analytics tool that runs both simple and complex visualizations that are actionable. Their customer service is also incredible. They respond quickly and will continue to follow up until your issue is solved.

It's very simple to create dashboards as well, for both the product and marketing teams. They have built-in reports and dashboards as well that you can use with a click of a button.

They also have amazing APIs that connect your database to Heap, where I can pass things like which subscription a user has, what team they belong to, and more. The integrations are also wonderful. We're able to connect to Hubspot and integrate our CRM data, which allows us to measure the activity of users that end up signing contracts for enterprise accounts.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much I don't like! It doesn't give us session duration, which I think can be a very important metric. We are also unable to change the definition of a session. Our users typically don't log out between sessions, so we can't use "login" activity as a proxy. For a while, I was unsure whether or not the data collected was lumping in browsers of our marketing site with users of our app.

Another thing I'm unsure about is how to differentiate between buttons without having our development team add a unique identifier to each button. For example, our support and chat buttons are in the same div and tagged as buttons, so unless users click the icon, NOT the button, we're unable to track which ones they do click.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're tracking growth experiments with Heap. We're in the middle of switching our UI and website, so we haven't had enough time to see tangible results, but once we have data for the new versions, I'm sure we'll track the effectiveness of changes putting in place. One tangible thing we're seeing is how much time is saved not having to pull data from the database and code manual visualizations.

One thing that we HAVE solved with Heap is tracking the effectiveness of our team. For example, a colleague of mine was out of town and we were able to track the effectiveness of his social media posts compared to the time period where others on the team posted. It's far easier to use than looking at Google analytics for this data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're considering Heap, think about how much time you spend connecting data between disparate data sources. Heap can be your single source of truth when it comes to marketing and product data, replacing hand-coded visualizations, google analytics, fullstory, and more.

You can also connect your database to deposit retroactive Heap data into your database. If you use a data viz tool such as Tableau, this could be a game-changer for you!
