Heap can do *almost* everything you need out of the box

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it holds historical data for anything on the website. That means if we have a button that exists on the site, but we don't think to look into tracking it or analyzing its usage until a month after it's been created, we still have all of that data thanks to Heap.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it's missing some key features such as automatically tracking scrolling in an easy to use way. We're required to use the track API they provide, but it's a bit complicated and would be much better for data use if it were implemented directly by the Heap product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to determine which changes on the website impact our user funnel and conversions. Heap allows us to see a full funnel view of user behavior to determine if certain elements of what they interacted with changed their propensity to convert. That can also be tied easily to our first party data for deeper analysis.

10 months of great experience with this platform

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that you dont need tech work to create new events, which can be very annoying and time consuming with other platforms. Wtih Heap, we can just use data attributes to create to tracking events and most importantly, data is retroactive !
What do you dislike about the product?
It is very annoying and limiting the data analysis that we can not have what was the state of the user at the time an event happened. We are only limited to the user properties that is based on most recent state of the user today, not when the event happened.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
feature analysis
user behaviors
AB test deeper understanding sometimes
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Create event properties to get state of the user at the time an event happened

What do you dislike about the product?
There could be better tutorials for setting up funnels
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Funnel performance

    Computer Software

Easy to use platform with valuable analytics

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to integrate with the ability to track user journeys. This platform has been very helpful in allowing us to have better visibility into how our customers use our product and increase our user adoption.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, I think it is a reasonable offering with great functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
User Adoption and User Analytics. We have been able to increase adoption with this platform as well as better troubleshoot challenges some users may be facing within the platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would strongly recommend Heap.

    Computer Software

Good for small companies and teams to get started on Product Analytics

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap's event visualizer feature. With little knowledge of HTML and CSS, one can work to build and track important events on heap without the help of engineering.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ability to create segments and reports is limited compared to other platforms. Also, though event visualizer is a great feature it can sometimes mess up tracking over a period of time when different people tag it differently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap has helped us identify what how our overall customer base is trending and reinforce some of the assumption we had about our product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to quickly get started then its a good product. But its always recommended to have engineering team on your side and get their help in tagging events

Fantastic tool to analyze user behavior

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap automatically captures all user interactions and stores them, which means you don't have to worry about properly instrumenting your pages or interface before you launch. Heap will grab all the data, and when you are ready, you can define what each piece means.

Heap can also track a user across multiple platforms, which is a great way to see behavior as a user moves from mobile to web and back.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their visual tool to identify interactions is very solid, but I find it is a bit better if you can specify the rule sets manually, which does take some HTML/CSS knowledge. But that is a very minor issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Feature usage, tracking funnels, tracking behavior across platforms. It has allowed us to better understand how our users use various features in conjunction, and where the platform may be coming up short of their expectations.

General insights are great, but the UI could use improvements and detailed functionality is needed

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the basic fact that events can be defined after the fact and pull valuable insights retroactively. I think defining elements is easy and straightforward
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like more detailed slicing and dicing of data, easier exports to excel and a better UI. I think that it is difficult to get a very detailed report or analysis given the UI as it is. For example, I end up running multiple reports and combining the CSV files to make pivot tables in excel that pull the visuals I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Funnel insights, user behavior analysis. We are using the platform in order to overall understand user engagement with different features/digital products on our website and try to understand the drivers of this behavior. Being able to retroactively look and define as we discover nuances has been a very powerful tool
