Enriching data with Alteryx
What do you like best about the product?
it is easy to combine and enrich data. Repeatable workflows runs really fast..
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting features to create charts and tables are limited
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cleaning and enriching data for better decisions. Do more with out having to increase staff.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the free trial to evaluate, the training is very good
Alteryx: Data Preparation and Blending Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Alteryx is a great data blending and data prep tool. It allows you to take data from different forms and very easily combine them into something that you can work with. This is all done through a workflow process with drag and drop tools. This makes it easy for the less technical people to transform their data without a steep learning curve. I also really like that there is a tool that turns all of the data blending that you have done into a tableau file that can be automatically imported into tableau and used there.
What do you dislike about the product?
While touted as having great analytic capabilities, I found that Alteryx did not stand up to competitors like Tableau. The analytics capabilities that Alterx does have are a bit clunky and do not present a final product in a great way.
It is definitely more of a data prep/blend tool than an analytics tool, which I thought was not represented in the best way in its advertising.
It is definitely more of a data prep/blend tool than an analytics tool, which I thought was not represented in the best way in its advertising.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have the need to access data that is in many different forms. From excel files to csv files, I have been having to manually add data to a master database file, all of this is very labor intensive. With Alteryx I can decide what data entries I need as well as delete duplicates, replace words and add columns, all automatically.
This tool saves me a lot of time, was easy to learn and reduces the redundancy of the work I do.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great data prep and blending tool, however it is not ideal to be used for analytic purposes. Although it integrates fantastically with Tableau.
Ateryx review
What do you like best about the product?
I like the different features alteryx offers right from creating workflows and creating extracts in tableau.
What do you dislike about the product?
The way workflows are corrupted which leads to no data in tableau extracts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am creating Tableau dashboards based on the extracts I create in alteryx.
Relatively New User
What do you like best about the product?
The interface and overall flow and feel of the product is excellent. The ability to abstract processing and to modularize is a useful software development model made more efficient by the clean, modular approach of the software. This lets users leverage prior modules and workflows effectively and somewhat transparently. This is useful in helping new users to train up on the system, helping put the examples into the context of your organization quickly by reviewing workflows and documents created by a few solo "Top Gun" users.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is quite expensive and would be more useful more broadly if it were less expensive per seat. This model makes it workable as a single seat, tool used by a "Top Gun", but difficult to provide to a more junior resource to become proficient. It is very complex, so it takes some time, even for a Top Gun to become expert. The product is self-evident in some ways, but has a great deal of power and complexity that must be discovered individually. Tutorials and learning modules are good, but could be more applicable to our industry and somewhat specialized use case. I would like to see even more tie-in with Salesforce, marketing analytics, demographics, etc.,
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analytics tying into workflows, using for marketing analytics and setting up machine learning solutions. Rapid prototyping. It may be useful as an intermediate layer between the UI and machine learning, R models that we may be using, or tying into Azure Machine Learning, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explore the trial software, but it is very short-term.(14 days) If possible, see if you can meet with another customer or user that's been using it for some time (> 6 months) to see how it might fit into your organization. The license model makes it difficult to use broadly, but the ability to leverage prior development helps.
Great way to turn anyone with a bit of database experience into a data analyst.
What do you like best about the product?
Alteryx makes it easy to connect multiple kinds of data sources together. CRM data can be joined to spreadsheets, and then uploaded into a postgres database that backs up Tableau.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not so much a dislike, but it lacks server setup features in my opinion. In an analyst role, I'm still dependent upon IT to get me a box or AWS up and running.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automation. I can build something once, then make it push button for data refreshes as often as I need. It's also modular, I can build components and recycle them in multiple different work flows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you've ever been delayed on a project because you're waiting on your dysfunctional IT team to get it together or you know what needs to be done, but you're not sure you have the technical skills to do it, this is the product for you. I do wish the Alteryx server was less expensive. Between that and Tableau Online, you're looking at a large cash outlay every year.
Powerful ETL tool and easy Tableau Integration
What do you like best about the product?
The variety and depth of tools offered, as well as ease of use. Does not require any coding experience to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Slight learning curve to understand all the tools and some of the Statistical R packages aren't always straightforward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Processing vast amounts of data, combined with algorithms for multivariable scoring/ranking. Some of the benefits realized are actually being able to extract data and process it quickly. Easily integrates with SQL Server and Tableau for robust data visualization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For anyone who wants to take control of their data, the sky is the limit. Alteryx is a fantastic tool , but takes some getting used to.
Alteryx, way to go
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to do ETL and how visual the whole process is.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much color in the icons, which makes the interface drab
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is way easier to do ETL, maintenance is easier and curve of learning is smoother with new resources
Alteryx- Blend your way to glory
What do you like best about the product?
>Alteryx has fantastic blending capabilities
> it can interact with most popular databases and files available today
> It is the only ETL tool in the market that can output a tableau data extract (TDE)
> Alteryx is not just an ETL tool, it can be used to perform a whole lot of analytics on your data
> Alteryx integrates with R seamlessly and can be used for predictive modelling.
> It can also be used to build reports with prompt filters

What do you dislike about the product?
> While Alteryx outputs a tableau data extract seamlessly it cannot read a similar extract
> it does not have good support for special characters
> it is not stable and crashes frequently when multiple users access the same workflow on the server
> it does not have good support for special characters

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
> We have used Alteryx to prepare and cleanse data for the tableau desktop software
> We have been able to use alteryx as an extension of tableau for building data reports used for auditing the tableau visualization.
> We have been able to use alteryx as an extension of tableau for building data reports used for auditing the tableau visualization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
> One should consider using Alteryx as an extension to tableau since tableau lacks the modelling capabilities necessary for analyzing any dataset.
> Alteryx can make dealing with different data sources easy
> Alteryx can make dealing with different data sources easy
Great for data blending
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to blend data from multiple data sources with tableau using alteryx is phenomenal. No need for developers anymore.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some things are highly technical and take training but other users to work with it.
