Great experience using Dropbox

  • March 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like using Dropbox because all my files are in one place. I do not have to rely on bringing and using a physical USB. The drag and drop feature is very easy to use and I like that all my files can be organized and shared with other members in different folders. There is also a lot of storage space on the site.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides of using Dropbox is relying on an internet connection. It would be great to use offline files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox allows for an easy to navigate system. It solves any confusion amongst team members and allows file sharing to be easier.

Sometimes it take a while to load the video to the server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox helps me upload videos to servers like Veed.io easily without hassle.

I can work anywhere

  • March 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about dropbox is that I can work from anwhere. I don't worry about my computer going down and losing files because they are all in dropbox, no matter where I am or what computer I am on. I would absolutely be lost without it! It is easy to use. I use it daily. I've never actually needed customer support because I've never had a problem with it. And you could not ask for anything any easier to set up!
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot think of any downside to Dropbox. (At least I haven't found one, anyway.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox is solving the problem of moving between offices and not having files in one office or the other. With Dropbox all my files are with me all of the time, no matter where I am. I can move freely between offices without missing a beat.

Frustrating at best

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Widespread adoption means most people are somewhat familiar with the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you're not a committed Dropbox user, you can't even view files from another user without having to upgrade to a higher package (viewing photos and videos, for example). It's so frustrating to have to pay for a platform for simple file viewing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not helping me solve anything—creating more problems than solving them.

Great product, with some considerations.

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can auto-backup my important files from my computer, share files to work on collaborative projects, and free up space on my hard drive all in one product. It's the easiest to use and I've used Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, etc. all in professional settings. Their desktop app also is pretty dependable for syncing local files. I use it every day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of their practices are concerning from a privacy standpoint, and sometimes there are minor syncing issues with files. I think it's a great product if you are working on smaller projects, but like anything shared on a cloud platform, use your discretion as to whether you want that info/files being shared with an outside company (Dropbox).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I love being able to back up my own files as well as sharing in progress files with collaborators.

What do you dislike about the product?
Could have offer more GB for free users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is easier to access documents from another device.

Seamless file management and sharing

  • March 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how DropBox uses your operating system's native file manager rather than reinventing the wheel. The way it integrates into both Windows and MacOS is seamless, with all the syncing happening in the background across all devices as long as they're connected to the internet. Sharing files is also a breeze: I just copy the client-facing files to their own folder and then I share that new folder with them over email or with a link. Last, I really like how easy it is to customize the DropBox folder on different devices, where one device might sync all folders while others (especially the ones with small hard disks) might just sync the most-used folders on that device. As a music producer, I like that I can offload old projects to the cloud as soon as I'm done with them, and then just as easily download them offline if I need to go back to them.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice if the integrated media viewers were more fully-featured. Looping audio/video (bonus points for the abiltiy to loop only a segment) or bookmarking sections would be greatly appreciated. A playlist feature would also be great (example use case: having a bunch of audio files to review while driving and not needing to download them all to the device and open a separate player).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DropBox makes file sharing really seamless and is a great all-around tool if you're needing to collaborate across many different kinds of media. Certainly, some other services are better at specific niches, like document production or music collaboration, but DropBox is a great sweet spot with diverse compatibility across devices and apps, and when it can't directly handle a use case, you can always share the files.
