Dropbox can be a surprisingly useful tool for code development,

  • June 12, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With its seamless cloud storage and automatic syncing, you can effortlessly access your code across multiple devices without worrying about manual transfer

The ability to restore previous versions of files also provides a lightweight safety net—almost like a simplified version of Git for quick rollbacks.

Moreover, Dropbox’s shared folders make it easy to work with teammates, providing a space for real-time edits and updates without needing a dedicated repository management system. While it’s not a full-fledged development platform, its simplicity and reliability can make it an effective supplement for managing code files, documentation, and project assets.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Dropbox is generally user-friendly, diving into its API integration can be more complex than expected, especially for developers looking for seamless automation. The documentation is fairly detailed, but the learning curve can be steep for newcomers who aren’t familiar with OAuth authentication or Dropbox’s specific data models. Compared to other cloud storage APIs, some developers feel that Dropbox’s integration requires more steps to implement basic functionalities like file uploads, sharing, or syncing.

Additionally, while Dropbox offers SDKs for various languages, certain advanced use cases—such as intricate permissions management or webhook-based event tracking—can be challenging without deeper API expertise. Some developers might find themselves writing extra workarounds or relying on third-party libraries to streamline their implementation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I know it’s a solid tool for many purposes. Developers often rely on it to store and sync code, collaborate on projects, or integrate its API for cloud-based workflows. It’s also helpful for backing up important files and sharing documentation across teams. While it’s not a full development environment, it serves as a reliable supplement for managing assets and keeping code versions accessible

The safety net for all my files!

  • June 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Dropbox daily now for the last 10 years and it's the perfect tool to store my files and ensure they are backed up and shared with my team. Once the installer is set up it just runs in the background without me noticing it.

I love being able to share large files with others who are not on Dropbox by just right clicking on a file and getting a shareable link.

I have also used the version control on numerous occasions when I've saved a file I shouldn't have and lost my work.

I also use it to request large files from clients when they are sending me content for the project and they are automatically saved in my folder.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost has been rising but I'm integrated now so would take a lot of reorganising which maybe is what they are counting on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great tool that works across both Mac and PC and allows me to easily share content with my team and clients. The version control is also a huge benefit ensuring I can roll back to a file if I make a mistake.

Lack of a lot of integrations like Google Drive hence, I prefer Gdrive

  • June 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and specifically transfer files feature. Plus it's a bit cheaper than Gdrive, but Google's subs provide Gemini access so if that's not something you want, it's great
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of integrations is one thing, plus free tier could be a little bit more just to try it out at first without commiting to payment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simply ease of use - sharing links, uploading photos, creating folders and everything that a cloud storage provides it pretty much smooth

Sharing and working together on documents is easy

  • June 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is really easy to install and get it working on the computer. It is as if it is another folder in your computer. I use it everyday. You can work on the document from any location and it updates automatically. I did not face any lag in updating which I faced with other interfaces. No additional downloads are needed and all documents word, excel or powerpoint can be easily accessed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The space gets limited sometimes and I want to avoid paying extra for the space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I do not need to switch between my work or home computer documents. No need to keep copying everything to the flash drive. Security that everything is saved and safe and no worries about crashing of the flash drive or hard drive.

Simple and Reliable Cloud Storage for Everyday Use.

  • June 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is incredibly easy to use and implement, with a clean interface that makes file storage and sharing straightforward. I especially appreciate how well it syncs across devices, making it easy to access and collaborate on documents from anywhere. Integration with tools like Microsoft Office and Google Workspace adds to its convenience. I used it for the company I was working for. We worked with a lot of reports, so it was easy for them to be uploaded to cloud storage.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has free plan which offers limited storage compared to some competitors, and advanced collaboration features are locked behind paid tiers. Also, customer support can be slow to respond to lower-tier plans.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used Dropbox while working for a consulting company on a project that involved a large number of reports being developed and edited by multiple team members. Dropbox was the best option because it allowed us to store all files in one centralized location, manage version control, and collaborate in real time without worrying about lost or outdated documents. It solved the problem of disorganized file sharing and inconsistent document versions. It ensured that everyone was working on the most up-to-date files, reduced email clutter, and allowed for smooth collaboration across different departments. This improved our productivity, streamlined communication, and kept our project documentation well-organized and accessible at all times.
