Gets the job done

  • March 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox has seamless integration with windows and linux. Its python API for integration of apps is also good. For a service like dropbox, you'll expect that it works all the time silently in background. It does a pretty decent job of it.
Most times for smaller files, the replication to other machine is in a few seconds.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few times for larger files [specially inverted index generated by Solr] the syncing fails and that need to be resolved manually. Since, writes are only in 1 dropbox and other instances are read-only, I would expect dropbox to take care of it on its own.
The total space available in free -tier is much smaller compared to competition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gets my files synced without issues. It is used for many purposes. Distributed Solr search is one of the applications

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy and convenient it's a great way to send files to clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the sharing folders feature worked with clients who don't have Dropbox accounts. Copying and pasting links in emails seems to be the only reliable way to send files to non-account holders.

Work Anywhere

  • March 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can start a project at work, come home work without having to remember to save to a stick and then remember to bring it with me to work later some where else. I also love the file share capabilities. My work email limits email size and Dropyhelps me to be able to work around any issue that comes up.
What do you dislike about the product?
I use the free version and some times have to pick and choos e what I keep in my Dropbox. My employees will not pay for an upgrade.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is making my work more mobile.

User friendly for Everyone

  • March 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite feature is that Dropbox is incredibly intuitive. It operates like most people's desktop folders. For my business, most people I work with are not particularly tech savvy, so this is absolutely mandatory.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside to Dropbox is that when moving an item from a Dropbox folder to a desktop or elsewhere, it removed that entire folder instead of making a copy. I would like it to prompt the option to make a copy of to move it entirely.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox helps me share large files, or folders with many files to get images from photoshoots and video productions to an audience.

I like how Dropbox functions compared to other cloud services

  • March 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of use and how I can see all my files on my laptop. It operates seemlessly between my laptop and the cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only drawback is the lack of space with the free plan. I just can't bring myself to pay for a plan when there are so many cloud options, so I use several cloud services to store everything I need and keep it free. I would prefer to use Dropbox for all of it and have all my stuff in one spot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The preceeding question: "For which purposes do you use Dropbox?" only gives the one option of "Cloud Content Collaboration" This is not what I use it for. I use it to store all my important files and videos. I store all my photos on Amazon because it is unlimited and free.
