What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon is a fully-engaged and personable hosting solution. When you have issues you are directed to a person who *want to solve* your problem.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see a pricing tier for hobbyists, e.g. sub $20.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work at a digital agency, Four Kitchens, and we make use of them for a large portion of our clients and our own site. The ease of use for developers makes it our go to solution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get in touch with them. They will talk you through options for solutions with the benefit of seeing how good their customer service is.

What do you like best about the product?
old school FTP supported, that saved us in a pinch when we ran into some wacky commit issues
What do you dislike about the product?
i think the platform in general, as i often do with big problem solving all in one's, is that its (for me) just a liiiiiiiiiiittle bloated
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
not my product/service, so none really ~ i definitely see the advantages of your platform

One of the Best Platforms for Drupal Development with a Team

  • July 17, 2018

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to use git in a dev, test and live environment makes developing a Drupal site for a client quicker when developing custom modules and themes. Having the ability to use multidev for staging features with each team member saves so much time in setting up environments and performing tests. Combined with using lando to replicate the pantheon environment locally gives our team the resources needed to get projects done efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some issues with getting a Drupal site setup the first time. You need to keep the system in sftp mode until you get the site installed then move over to git to make sure the installer can create the settings file. However this is documented but a pain until you find it. Also renaming sites in the dashboard is not supported. So you have to create a new site, migrate the data and code and remove the old site. So make sure you get the internal name the way you like it first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing your own internal dev, test and live servers on AWS or another cloud provider is not trivial. Pantheon makes this process straight forward and gives us the flexibility and transparency our clients need. It has sped up our Drupal development. While there are other Drupal specific hosting providers out there pantheon should be at the top of the list.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You get a bunch of sandbox sites to test out ideas and make sure the site you have can work on pantheon before upgrading.

Shockingly Useful

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to spin up development sites in seconds that use the same architecture as live sites. Deploying code and managing workflow is simple and fast. Good basic support team that responds quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limits on dev team collaboration, workflow flexibility, and github integration in the lower price-points. Drupal 8 use of composer project management doesn't integrate as tightly with Pantheon's native workflow as we'd like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have small teams and are creating proof of concept products. Pantheon helps us to spin those up quickly and reliably on the hardware the products will eventually be deployed on.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a control freak for workflow and branching models, be prepared to use minor workarounds, and/or opt for the more expensive Multi-Dev enabled plans.

Very pleased

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of handoff to client and pass thru billing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new pricing. The $50 minimum has been a hard sell. Even to customers who will be going higher the high base rate seems to freak folks out bc of the dearth if super low crap hosts out there. Not comparable but it’s a psychological barrier we’re finding that makes clients have us look at other options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The handoff and direct billing has been great. As has the free dev as our projects are often delayed before launch.

We use Pantheon across multiple teams and service.

Pantheon is now my first choice for Drupal Hosting

  • July 17, 2018

What do you like best about the product?
I'm not a professional developer but as a digital marketer who loves Drupal, Pantheon makes it easy to keep my sites up to date. Trying to keep Drupal core and modules current can be a challenge unless you have a a developer in your pocket. Pantheon makes that unnecessary.

You also get a free development sandbox to play with, that comes with all the trappings of a live site without the custom domain name. Once you decide to flip the switch, it's pretty easy and reasonably priced.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well....that I have to pay for it? :D They are reasonably priced tho
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don't have to keep a developer on staff to keep Drupal core and modules up to date. I only have to hire a developer to do actual web work on the site.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As a non-developer, make sure that any developers you hire/contract are very familiar with the CMS you plan on using, be it Drupal, WP, or something else.
