Blazing fast Drupal and Wordpress websites

  • June 04, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon is a platform for securely and reliably hosting Drupal and Wordpress websites. You can set up a sandbox for free and see if you like the platform. We've used this in the past for actively developing projects for clients before we go live. Even if they decide not to use Pantheon, it's easy to export the code, database, and files. All of the websites include a free tier of New Relic (above the typical "free" version). The have great command line connections to their API via "Terminus", and connect to other third party services for code pushes via Quicksilver. Terminus is also able to use community-built plugins to do even more functionality.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the support is helpful, but other times it's hard to get useful information out of them. They're sometimes quick to blame site configuration, but they're frequently correct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We host several Drupal websites for clients on their platform. It's very fast and predictable. We use a starting template to create all of our websites, which gives us a reliable workflow for spinning up new websites.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The personal tier is very good for the price. The only reason we've ever wanted to use the Pro tier is to gain HTTPS, but we got around that by using CloudFlare service. Plus - we benefit from the added boost to security and speed through using their service.

Pantheon is pretty much awesome

  • April 12, 2016

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon makes it really easy to spin up, administer, update, and deploy changes to multiple Drupal websites. The dev-test-live workflow they've created is kind of like magic, since code changes and databases can be transferred from one environment to another in no time. The one-click backup restoration feature has saved me at least once from accidental data loss (which was my fault), and restoring from backup was so simple, I gained even greater confidence in the system. And Pantheon loves agencies so much they let us use the platform essentially for free while we build our client's websites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ticket response times are slower than I'd like. I also frequently receive "Platform Operations status" emails noting problems with the system, and while these emails are welcome — transparency is a good thing — they have the side effect of making it seem like Pantheon is breaking down all the time, which is not actually the case.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pantheon has saved us countless hundreds (thousands?) of hours that we would have had to spend configuring servers, creating hosting accounts, and building a dev-test-live workflow on our own. We're able to create custom Drupal upstreams that simplify site creation and module updates — the basic work has to be done only once and can then be merged with existing sites or be cloned to create new sites.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ain't nobody got time to build deployment workflows — the time you spend doing that prevents you from doing billable work. Do yourself a favor and use Pantheon instead.

We Love Pantheon!

What do you like best about the product?
I love the simple and user friendly multi-enviroment feature. It allows me and my team to safely make changes behind the scene, test them and then quickly push to the live enviroment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much, but it would be nice if the pricing came down a bit or maybe have a cheaper option for a more basic plan?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can now make changes quickly and safely in the dev environment and that saves my company money/time!

It's very awesome but it has it's own quirks

  • April 07, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Free staging sites and the system is fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support doesn't measure up to the quality of hosting and services offered by Pantheon.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pantheon's workflow dev to stage to prod allows for better testing and client review before deploying live..
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pantheon is not right for all the projects, it did fail hard on one of them and support wasn't good enough to allows to key the site hosted in Pantheon.

Happy to see you!

What do you like best about the product?
Having Dev-Test-Prod environments at the same time and multidev is pretty sweet too.
I like the Pantheon logo too. 👍
What do you dislike about the product?
- User interface (dashboard) could use some work.
- I have two accounts: one for work, one for personal. I would like to be able to consolidate both accounts or be able to switch quickly from one to another.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to host 3 environments at the same time and not have any issues from pushing dev to prod.
Also, it's pretty sweet that client or non-dev person can push files/db from one environment to another. It's saves devs time. :)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just give it a try. It works really well.

No-brainer for Drupal hosting

  • April 06, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon makes it so easy for developers to focus on their main task – development – and leave operations to someone else.
What do you dislike about the product?
Debugging can sometimes be a bit tricky, with little insight to what goes on between Nginx and the Drupal application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting up and running with a Drupal production environment (plus dev and stage).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Unless you have some very specific demands (you don't) Pantheon will Just Make It Work. Try their free account out and have a look yourself!

The best cloud service for Drupal developers

  • April 06, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon is the best platform in terms of Drupal cloud hosting and continuous integration. Also, the panthon folks are really close to the Drupal community and they care about what the community is saying and asking for. Also, their support is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to be able to promote to production certain branch or environments without having to go via DEV -> TEST -> PROD
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Create web experiences with drupal without the environmental pain that comes with Drupal.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it!It´s great

What do you like best about the product?
that your server is kept up to date and low maintenance.
What do you dislike about the product?
only communication is via email. although it is fairly timely in response time, sometimes the phone is an easier form of communication.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We don't need a server admin with Pantheon.

Pantheon is the best hosting money can buy, but not trivial for the novice user.

  • April 05, 2016

What do you like best about the product?
Performance, security, and bigger bang for the development dollar because I don't have to mess around with lots of hosting particulars and moving parts.

Three environments (dev, test, and live) make development operations a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not that this is easy, but I wish there were a better way to ensure that database-level content could be versioned. I'm aware of recommended workarounds but something that more naturally fits the workflow would be awesome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm solving problems for small businesses. In one case, I had just told a client that their site was liable to be compromised with their cut-rate, non-Pantheon host. The client said there was no reason to think so because they had been safe with that host for years. Within a month, the client's site went down because it was broken into by a hacker. We moved them to Pantheon immediately and the site has not had any problems since then.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be sure you read as much of the documentation as you can. You don't actually need to do this because the user interface is very intuitive. However, by reading the documentation you'll be able to understand the "hidden" advantages that make Pantheon even better.

Wish I would have started using Pantheon Sooner

  • April 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon fits great into my workflow and allows me to collaborate with other developers on projects with ease.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the documentation is difficult to comprehend the first time around.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Developing and deploying Drupal and WordPress projects. Not having to worry about scaling and server configuration allows me to focus on my customers' sites.
