Pantheon - makes my workload more manageable

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Pantheon platform is reliable. After all, without uptime, it doesn't matter how great the development workflow is. Support is awesome and are always available to help.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that I dislike that is worth writing about. Any small nuisance is outweighed by the benefits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workload has lessened tremendously with the Pantheon platform. Developing new sites is a breeze. In addition, the multi-environment feature of the platform allows me to improving existing sites using live data, get approval from the stakeholders and launch with a few clicks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take advantage of free sandbox account to review the platform for yourself.

Worry-free Hosting

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about Pantheon is the seamless and easy management of Drupal or Wordpress hosting with daily backups and an easy dev, testing, to live workflow. Pantheon also has a clean and simple user interface that makes performing daily tasks efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pantheon's pricing has increased drastically in the past year, and it's the part that keeps me searching for alternate options—as a nonprofit publication at a public university we most likely won't be able to afford Pantheon when our next budget cycle rolls around.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a nonprofit with a lean staff wearing multiple hats, Pantheon helps us assure our website is in good hands and performing at its best.

It has no ssh options. I can not create a site direct from the command prompt including installing Drupal from command line.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving the issue of applying updates. The benefits are the entire dev-test-live streamline process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent development environment.

Easy to Use, Great Support Team

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon handles hosting as it should always have been done. My team is able to focus on the code and trust that Pantheon will handle the server side, completing daily backups, letting us have DEV/TEST/LIVE environments. Handling all of this with a few clicks. It's been a great, easy user experience and anytime I've had an issue, there Chat Support team has been phenomenal.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the dashboard doesn't give the full story when actions are still in progress.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We no longer have to worry about having a sysadmin dedicated to our public-facing website infrastructure. It's great!

Pantheon is great!

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon offers a very user-friendly workflow for managing a website, backups, and updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
No complaints from me. The university I work for pays for it. Otherwise, cost would be inhibitive for our small group.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pantheon has made having a website much easier than with traditional server management issues. Having the peace of mind of not worrying about managing the server and manually managing backups is priceless.

Great Service, Great Support

  • March 24, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
I love the unique approach to a development workflow that Pantheon provides. It encourages a proper development process with dev, test, and live environments. I was also very impressed with the performance. The caching system they have in place does a terrific job making very complicated and slow websites run quickly. Finally, I've been very happy with the support. I am surprised how quickly they respond to chat support, and they are always friendly and helpful. Moreover, there is a plethora of well-structured documentation that really helps.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes just a bit of time getting used to the process. But once you do, I think it's very helpful to encourage a good development process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've had WordPress websites that had significant performance problems. We tried a large number of different hosting solutions but nothing really worked well. Pantheon was a game changer with the kind of performance we were able to see on complex WordPress implementations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spend some time understanding the development workflow process.

Pantheon provides fantastic developer tools for me, and - for my customers

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon provides a best-practices workflow for developers, that requires almost no systems administration. One subscription provides me with three websites: production, testing, and development.

I get an easy-to-use dashboard for making deployments, and automatic backups of exactly what I need, how I need it. These are things it takes time to set up on other web hosts.

When you do need to get down and dirty, Pantheon also provides ssh access, command line mysql access, and a plethora of other development tools that can be used from the command line.
What do you dislike about the product?
Indecipherable Pricing. I need to be able to give my clients a straight answer as to how much it will cost to switch to Pantheon. From the pricing page it's impossible to determine that. I have a handful of clients I can't move because I can't give them a straight answer. Pantheon really needs to fix this mess, they're leaving money on the table!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My clients save money by switching to Pantheon, since they don't need to pay anyone to build and maintain a server for them.

Unlike many competitors, Pantheon keeps every site separate from every other. A traffic surge on one isn't going to bring the others down, too. And on Pantheon, even the site under pressure wont go down! The subscription comes on a best-practices high-performance set up baked in, but if that's not enough the site can also easily scale up to a larger plan.

Tools that work!

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is super easy to spin up a site quickly. Pantheon is among a rare breed--tools that work. It saves substantial time by aiding in the development cycle.
What do you dislike about the product?
I get it. It is a business, but constantly being asked to pay does get old.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can create a quick MVP/demo site and deploy in minutes which is easy to share. It takes a lot of work out of administering the development cycle. Performance is great!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Want to get something up and running quickly? Want to have the development cycle managed automatically? Really trying to get a solution that works and has great support for when something break?

Great Wordpress host with Dev, Test, and Live Environments and built-in workflows

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon makes it easy to manage my own Wordpress site. It's fast - very fast page loads. It lets me develop in the Dev environment, then test in the Test environment - all without disrupting the Live production environment. And the support team is amazingly knowledgeable and helpful too. Fully automated backups are awesome too.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike. A couple of the support articles are a little outdated - support team was able to quickly answer my questions though. Also with the increased capabilities of Pantheon over other Wordpress hosts I've tried, there is a bit of a learning curve to it - though the extra capabilities are well worth taking the time to learn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pantheon helps me experiment and build in my Dev environment without risking customer disruption in Production. Pantheon is also much faster and more reliable than other less-expensive Wordpress hosts I've used over the years.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Build out your test site in the Sandbox environment and test it thoroughly before Launch. Use the Launch Check tools to help ensure you've covered all your bases before go live!
