Solid Platform & Support. Helpful tools for monitoring, security. Great on-boarding & documentation.

  • August 15, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The platform and related support monitoring & security tools fit seamlessly into our agile site development lifecycle, allowing us to easily collaborate with Drupal development partners, and focus on features development, user experience. Dashboard makes it easy to manage updates and backups, and monitor all our sites easily. CDN & New Relic monitoring tools are well integrated and help us ensure sites perform well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only available for Drupal and Wordpress sites. Would like an offering for our other WCMS solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We moved to Pantheon after a security incident with a VPN host. We've found the security difference night and day vs self-managing LAMP on a VPN. Pantheon partnered with us from the beginning to ensure upstreams were configured correctly, and provided useful learning resources for the change in tools & workflow. The result has been a more stable, secure site with more development cycles available for new features and UI improvements.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be sure to do an apples-apples evaluation including the range of integration, performance and monitoring tools offered. Think about how your organization handles security updates, testing, and working with development partners. Consider standardization needs (eg multiple agencies needing a consistent managed base site profile with customizations).

What do you like best about the product?
Personally, what I like the most about Pantheon software are its tools for easy configuration and administration of my company's website, Pantheon not only helped me build my company's website, it helped me build an online presence for dazzle my clients, generate income and improve the experiences of my users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Until now there is nothing that disgusts me, all the problems of the website of my company have been solved thanks to the Pantheon software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thanks to its extraordinary configuration capacity with the possibility of rapid development of specific solutions, the Pantheon software helps us in the ongoing maintenance and operations of our website, it provides assistance with new templates, content, development, hosting, updates and security.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
My recommendation, Whether you have a new software product that you need to build, an existing product that needs to be adjusted, or technological ideas you want to explore, Pantheon Software can help you where needed.

The most frustrating experience I have ever had

  • March 27, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the DEV and TEST environments, in theory, but I have often had things working perfectly on those sites, but then NOT work when I push them to the Live site. So what's the point? Support does respond quickly, the chat is quite useful (although it always says "5 minute response time," and it takes at least 10-15), and they do their best to help (see below).
What do you dislike about the product?
Nearly everything. I am a designer/developer, meaning I'm pretty solid in PHP and javascript, but I'm not super comfortable in the command line. And yet they have created a platform that requires a lot of work there. A lot of the tech support is sending links to articles. Then when I ask a question about that, they send me a different link to a different article. I don't have enough bad things to say about all of this. If you are going to offer a "dedicated Wordpress platform," then your platform should work the way WP does: updates are made in the Wordpress dashboard and via SFTP. Most of us work in WP because it's flexible and easy. Pantheon may be more robust than less-expensive platforms, but it is -- as far as I am concerned -- total garbage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not a single one. It creates far more problems than it solves.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't.

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As is with Pantheon, the possibilities to build a website from scratch to the way you want it on their super fast and secure platform, is endless!
What do you dislike about the product?
In order for any website to go live...One needs a membership
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosting websites on their super fast, secure and reliable platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want your website to be build on a solid rock...choose Pantheon!

A simple website management platform with a wealth of helpful tools

  • February 05, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon comes bundled with some great features including a global CDN and SSL provisioning. I can quickly push sites into production. It has an easy backup and restore feature. The account dashboard is easy to use and helps us to view errors. It's a great development pipeline where code is pushed up and content is pulled down.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pantheon is not designed to be customized all that much. If it fits your needs, particularly with an RE development pipeline, then it can be perfect. If you prefer more control over your server setup, this is probably not the best provider for you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pantheon is a fantastic website management platform since they specialize in both Drupal and WordPress. It is quite easy to set up development sites in each of these platforms. Pantheon also gives you the ability to build your website in a live URL environment, so we are able to test with a client with ease. Two huge bonuses are that it's easy to set up and restore backups and that it's easy to update Drupal and WordPress core via downstream updates.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pantheon isn't particularly affordable for many smaller businesses. It is worth the price for a variety of reasons, but if you have a smaller budget and need to stick to it, you should try looking elsewhere.

Three words - I love Pantheon

  • February 01, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to spin up sites, great collaboration and multi-developer environments, dev/test/production access in one click, database and code backup management, 1-click Drupal updates. What’s not to like ?
What do you dislike about the product?
Tough to say but I think it can take a while to get a brand new user up to full speed on using the platform. However, there are lots of documentation pages and video tutorials.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reliability, site hosting, uptime
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent for Drupal and Wordpress sites and includes a fully working sandbox environment to help you make the decision.

Tested Pantheon for Drupal site

  • October 16, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy and fast to create a site in sandbox.
Create a sandbox and give dev, test and live server free without even spending a penny.
Free until we attach domain to the sandbox.
Works great with lando and composer.
Offer multiple users working in an organization to collaborate together in a team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Flexibility in terms of version control.
Really hard to setup custom configuration for the version control if you want different structure for .gitignore.
Not able to setup your own git repository and link the pantheon.
Support system for the Pantheon is not that great.
If we talk about the price Pantheon is same as Acquia.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working on Drupal CMS website pantheon and acquia were 2 tools we were playing around.
Pantheon has it's benefits as it's easy, fast and free to setup a site and play around in pantheon is the best feature they provide that too with dev, stage and live servers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using pantheon for Drupal installation. I would prefer Acquia (I'm not an Acquia employee) personally they have a GUI interface so you don't have to see CMD/Terminal. Also, they have much better support system.
Acquia has some cool distributions like lightning which have feature out of the box.

Everything that you need

  • October 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Version controlling can be done easily using Pantheon.
It gives support for CMS.
There are three environments:
Test environment, Development environment, Production environment
and it is really easy to make the things live, all you have to do is PUSH it.
It provides the best hosting for CMSs like Drupal and WordPress.
It becomes easy to keep backup and the restore processes of the data as the Pantheon comes with the facility to keep track of all the versions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the awesome product like Pantheon must have that awesome documentation.
The documentation seems incomplete.
Also, it is difficult to process for first time user.
The user must know the process and implementation. It's hard for users of other hosting platforms like Godaddy to copup with Pantheon.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used it in one of our Drupal projects.
It was very 1st time I was using it so it took some time for understanding but the results we got are really good.
Now we are using all the three environments without any issue.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Know the process and implementation steps first.
It is the really awesome product just you have to know how to use it.

Solid Hosting Experience for Busy Developers

  • August 13, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Love the DevOps pipeline automation between WordPress clients. Saves me time, money and resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost can be more than needed if only a simple site solution is required (no custom development).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing several WordPress websites between different levels of development while letting Business users continue content creation on a production version has been the largest immediate benefit of utilizing the platform! Also the ability to spin up free development instances and only get charged when going live is one of the most amazing features to date. It puts other hosting companies to shame.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have WordPress/Drupal sites that require a lot of custom development than this is the platform for you, the ease of use for pushing changes up the pipeline from Dev to Testing to Production is magical and allows for solid development practices even with a live production environment.

Can be a bit overkill if you only need a simple, straightforward WordPress install and theme.

Fast Wordpress hosting provider with great developer-friendly workflow

  • August 11, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that production server is never ever touched, unless it goes to the testing server. This allows our dev and MarOps team to be disciplined and make sure that we test prior to pushing websites to production.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ability to roll-back commits in the web UI, or get into details of the file diff during commits on dev, test, prod servers
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Wordpress on Pantheon on all of our public facing websites, including .com, blog pages, and landing pages used by our demand gen team. It's stable, solid, and just right when it comes to pricing vs. value.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Given that managed hosting for Wordpress is a crowded space, Pantheon truly differentiates itself with the value-added service that comes with their offering, on top of the stability, dev-friendliness, and awesome support. If you are not able to afford Wordpress VIP, Pantheon is a solid bet!
