Life changing

  • April 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Automated no touch environment; I don't need a sysadmin!
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing is not flexible for unusual websites with e.g. very large file systems but low traffic
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cost savings, mostly in infrastructure personnel.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compare with Acquia hosting and other smaller players on the market. Check your website's software requirements; some modules require third party dependencies be installed on the server, which can be a blocker on strictly managed cloud hosting services like Pantheon and Acquia hosting.

Pantheon = Drupal Development Success

  • April 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part of Pantheon is the ability to spin up a development environment at any time to show a proof of concept to a client or just to test or debug some new modules or code I have been working on. Although I do work in a local Scotch (Vagrant) environment a lot, it's just nice to know that when you're ready to start putting your development on the server, Pantheon is super easy to start up and push your commits from Dev to Live. It makes demonstrations a breeze and keep things nice and tidy for single or multidev teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few nuances here and there that I do not like. I know that Pantheon is designed to only allow SFTP access rather than SSH, but it would be nice to run a few Drush commands without having to worry with Terminus. Don't get me wrong, Terminus is pretty neat, but sometimes you get used to working in several other similar environments and then back to Pantheon and you have to remember that you can't SSH into the machine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a business, we've eliminated to fuss of having to manage hosting accounts for clients. Who really wants to do that anyway? I simply build a site and on delivery, have them take ownership of the account. It's that simple. I'm not trying to charge for hosting because I am not a hoster. I charge for my time as a designer and developer and let Pantheon do the rest. It's really one of the best ways to build sites and do what you love without hassling with a bunch of server junk although I would like a few SSH items as mentioned above.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Forget what you know about servers and let them take the wheel. If you can't do that, you're looking for the wrong service. If you want someone that is stable and reliable with amazing compatibility with Wordpress and Drupal, then Pantheon is your best choice.

Pantheon Review - Not sure why I am titling my own review. You asked me

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon allows our team to work more efficiently. The workflow tools are great so from kicking the project off to going live, things work smoothly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Clients that don't get the importance of good hosting. Yes, you can host on crappy cheap stuff, but it comes at a cost that you might not see right away. But some day, you will pay.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saves time so we make more money.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pantheon and Lando save us a ton of time and time is money. Don't be stupid. Host with Pantheon.

Pantheon rocked our world

  • April 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The dash board has seriously cut our dev time. I'm preaching the Pantheon word to all our peers!
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much that we don't like. I suppose the fact that you can't use FTP to upload files (not allowed in GIT) without switching to FTP mode.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backwards devops. We're moving all of our work to this workflow now.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to update your workflow, and modernize it so that you're more agile for growth, this is the product for you.

Brings focus back to our work

  • April 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Pantheon is the way it has allowed my firm to focus on delivering new functionality and features to our client's sites without being sidetracked by infrastructure requirements. We're solid in our dev-ops skills, but Pantheon allows us to be much more cost efficient with our client's budgets. With Pantheon, we spend more time creating solutions to assist our client's with the day-to-day usage of their CMS. We support clients on both WordPress and Drupal.
What do you dislike about the product?
Believe it or not, I sometimes miss getting in there and tweaking the backend with Ansible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest business problem we solved with Pantheon was providing a development/production infrastructure and workflow for our customers, at a much lower cost, and without giving up any of the flexibility or speed that a dedicated system might provide.

The biggest benefit we've realized with our clients is an increased focus on the work that clients can actually see. We've always understood the importance of a stable and flexible development/production environment, but it hasn't always been easy to convey those benefits to the client.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're on the fence about switching to a website management platform, ask yourself, "how much value are you providing to your clients with a homegrown system?"

What do you like best about the product?
I like the use of the staging environments and the drag and drop interface is convenient when i want to back up staging and beta branches with the latest production files and database.
What do you dislike about the product?
The workflow is certainly different and took some time to get used to but overall I'm satisfied with the time investment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is more of an all-in-one solution for us to manage multiple sites and not have to rely on deploy hooks through multiple services (deployhq, bitbucket, github, etc).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Has a great command line interface and the ability to easily deploy from staging and beta environments to production, and transfer files and database settings from production to other environments is a huge selling point for me.

Solid, best practice hosting environment

  • April 05, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon encourages a "best practice" Workflow and configuration. The platform ensures documentation of change and discourages "do it live" methodologies. Integrates well with a range of external tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some assumptions of the Pantheon environment make it unsuitable for a few Drupal tools. There are related costs (eg monthly charge for SSL) which seem incongruous with supporting best practices for customer data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're exploring Pantheon as a high availability hosting option for non profits CRM.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explore it, see if it suits your internal systems and your site. If not, ask yourselves why :)

What do you like best about the product?
Built in Dev, Testing, Live, environments and the platforms stability, performance, and uptime. Additionally the ease of spinning up new and development instances is a breeze. Love how quickly we can spin up a test site.

Additionally, I like that the platform continues to improve and innovate. Often SAS companies launch a products, innovate a little, generate some buzz, and look to sell. Pantheon continues to not only develop the product, but also improve it's existing feature offerings while reaffirming a commitment to the larger Drupal community.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are many Pantheon-isms when using Drupal that give our developers grief. Same for Wordpress, specifically support for caching and performance plugins on Wordpress.

Also, as a Pantheon partner with multiple clients being billed for hosting on the service, there is no way to easily manage that billing set up. For example, we may get an email notification that there was a billing problem because a card expired, but there is literally no way to tell what client account it's referring to, from the email, from the platform, or even pinging Pantheon support.

Backups are not turned on by default.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidating on a unified development platform. Grade A Performance and Stability. Another big bonus is that because of the large bandwidth and space allowances we have effectively a fixed and predictable monthly cost. And finally, support is responsive even if Pantheon can't do what we're looking for. That direct nature and responsiveness allows us to spend more time with our clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pantheon can be cost prohibitive for small non-profits

Great solution for agency web hosting.

What do you like best about the product?
Out of the box version control and multidev support is awesome. WordPress updates compliance are also simplified through the use of the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are occasions where it's difficult to troubleshoot what's going on because of odd errors not captured in error logs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the past we would recommend GoDaddy. But the services provided by GoDaddy are not optimal and setting up multiple environments manually is very time consuming. Pantheon provides a multi-tired version controlled environment out of the box optimized for our two top CMS tools (WordPress and Drupal).
