One of the best tools out there for user research
What do you like best about the product?
Quality of participants, ease of recruitment, highlight reel capabilities, ease of using metrics
What do you dislike about the product?
Editing videos isn’t the easiest, transcript (beta) needs more work in terms of accuracy, annual subscription cost
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Evaluative research, being able to take time-sensitive research questions and turn around a study within a day or two
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If cost is a consideration for your company, consider how often you will need to test and compare the per-study cost with some of the alternatives in the market. Usertesting is great for being able to test as often as you want, but for instance a very small company might not have enough to test to justify the annual subscription plan. They do offer different tiers, but the startup plan is very limiting.
Empowering a Non Profit to Increase its Impact
What do you like best about the product?
UserTesting demonstrates a strong desire for social impact and specifically supports my organization with its OneWorld Grant. The product makes it simple to specify a target audience, create tests, and share insights with the rest of the team.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was somewhat difficult to use on mobile without an app.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
UserTesting has been instrumental in empowering my organization to improve our digital and in-person services and products. We are continuously learning how strangers in our target market (of volunteers and donors) view our products, services, and brand, and we leveragw these insights to iterate on them and increase our impact.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learning Navigator is a great resource to learn the basics of UserTesting. The Customer Success Team is also very responsive. UserTesting is rolling out new products such as marketing insights which will help improve success in other areas of the organization.
Great options for companies, few opportunities for users.
What do you like best about the product?
Very easily get connected to users who match the demographic profile you are looking for. A low cost way to send small surveys and have have more confidence that you are hiring the best users for your study. The app and entire ecosystem make it really easy to use the platform, inspiring confidence in the user test results themselves. Additionally it makes it easy for a company to operate either remotely or with team members spread across the country.
What do you dislike about the product?
On the user side, you spend significant effort filling out surveys for free and hoping to be selected. This leads to fatigue and a decrease in answer quality which can impact the selection process. It is harder dealing with subjects that are so well trained to be talking through what they are doing and thinking. In practice this means that frequently you end up with trained user testers and there is limited exposure to users who are using this type of technology for the first time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting connected to users who are most like our user population without having to treat customers as lab rats. Fundamentally we are looking to explore which designs / experiences will resonate best with our customers and work to change their behaviours. This is only possible by exploring many paths in a low fidelity way. Usertesting makes it really easy to scale the number of paths we are working on because we don't need to worry about managing a recruiting pool or tapping it dry too early in the project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try the trial is excellent
Great, quick results. Large participant panel.
What do you like best about the product?
Our studies tend to field very quickly, which is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
There tends to be issues with Axure prototypes on iOS devices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Usually usability issues within our portals and apps.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Better system with Axure prototypes on iOS. Ability to take notes during live conversations.
A valuable tool for any QA team.
What do you like best about the product?
Constantly developing and testing customer experience is an absolute must for any eCommerce business - and UserTesting is the first tool that we use for this.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to organize tests could be improved (folders, archiving, group sharing, etc.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use UserTesting to run explorative UI/UX research and to test sites before launching new versions (bug tests).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
UserTesting provides hours and hours of training and upskilling content for you to hone your user-testing. Make sure to utilize these resources and you will maximize the value you get from the platform.
Also, it is a must to stay organized and document all of the tests you run. The information you gather from your tests are not only important in the current, but will also be something to look back at later on down the line for insight.

Stellar experience receiving quality user surveys and testing
What do you like best about the product?
User Testing is very easy to use and best of all you get accurate, fast results! I was absolutely shocked on how I got real users that were screened properly. The quality of the results exceeded my expectations. Plus, I thought it could take days to receive results but it was literally under an hour. Amazing results!
What do you dislike about the product?
Assistance & prefilled questions for the survey itself could be a lot better. I really did not much I disliked, very easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I want real opinions and feedback within my industry/market with users that use similar products. This helps me define the problem I am solving and validates that there are users willing to pay and like being a consumer in my market.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out! You have nothing to lose. It was a very easy process, user friendly with fast results. The feedback from users on your idea or product was extremely beneficial and it was only possible with User Testing. I highly recommend using this service because without user validation, you won't know what to change or tweak with your business. Also, you can start with a free trial and then upgrade from there. It's that simple.
Couldn't meet my team's research goals without it
What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to tag clips and put together powerful highlight reels. As a UX researcher, I can pull together findings, actionable insights, and user verbatims - but then a 5 second clip from usertesting.com is all the execs can talk about after the report!
What do you dislike about the product?
Merging data from multiple tests. It's nice that you can export to the same excel spreadsheet, but there are SO MANY tabs and it can make analysis across iterations tough.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since our app is not yet live, it is really nice to be able to rapidly get it into the hands of a targeted user group.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have the budget to consider this, do the trial. You really don't understand how powerful your user insights will be until you see them in action. If you don't have the budget, consider an overhaul and find the budget!
User Testing is the best way to digest thoughts and ideas into solutions
What do you like best about the product?
I like how simple the platform is, but also how the company thoughtfully pushes its own platform to continue to make testing powerful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel sometime the users are too like minded.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solve everything from basic copy and UI options to complicated product flows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it. Try it out. Test every time you are at a crossroads.
Usertesting is awesome!
What do you like best about the product?
I run a lot of feedback sessions for my designs before launching them and it's always a pain to find candidates who fit the criteria. With usertesting, I'm able to set up tests very easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing about this type of qualitative testing is that the user knows they are being recorded. Surprisingly, users have been pretty honest, but they can be truly honest if they forgot they were doing a testing. It's not very good for ethnographic studies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saves me a lot of time with scheduling and finding candidates. The filters are very useful!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking to see if Usertesting can save your company time, you should know that the value it gives is more than what you pay for it.
Great User Research Software
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability of watching the tests over and over again, adding notes, reading notes from my coworkers, and creating new clips. The transcript feature is also really helpful! Being able to read through the transcripts saves me a lot of time!
What do you dislike about the product?
I understand the technical difficulties, but my only complaint is that transcripts are not 100% accurate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am currently analyzing many UX tests and generating insights to improve the company's website interface.
