Secret management simple without any hassle

  • May 30, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Doppler allows me to manage secrets and automatically rotate without creating complexity, also, it's very cheap and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Doppler could be a bit more tied together with password management tools or analysis on potential security flaws directly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy syncronisation and updating multiple environments without hassle

Takes the friction out of secrets management

What do you like best about the product?
Allows myself and my team to operate seamlessly without having to worry about secret management. Easy to implement and use within the web app / command line or in Docker containers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nested secrets management can be a pain to maintain - you often have to click through multiple configs to find the secret you are looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing us to use multiple different secrets configs in all of our projects, across the stack.

What do you like best about the product?
Doppler makes it very easy to set up multiple environments, set secrets for those environments, and sync those secrets to all underlying systems. We use Doppler as the source of truth, and automatically sync the secrets to platforms like GitHub and Google Cloud with very straightforward configuration. The ability to sync secrets to a dev environment is also amazing, we no longer need to share .env files through a side-channel to members of the team. This makes onboarding folks like contractors a lot easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not sure if there are any true downsides, but there are a few small annoyances:

1) Some of the integrations dump all secret values into a single secret. This can be annoying to manage.
2) If secrets are needed on the dev environment, unlike a .env file that can be read by any tool, you have to use the Doppler CLI to inject the secrets as env variables. I like the security aspect of this, but it is very slightly annoying.

Both of these are very minor issues!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a place to store our secrets that is easy to manage but secure.

What do you like best about the product?
Integrates with your existing stack seamlessly
What do you dislike about the product?
That we took so long to use it where we work! Credential leaked that took days to fix could have been prevented if we used it earlier
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No more secrets in unencrypted .env files
Simple way to made massive secret JSON files for deployed services

Great experience related to security

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most in the SecretOps Plataform it is that is an easy platform to use, it is easy to find what I created, and easy to create new secrets. The feature related to when some integration was used it is something that I really enjoy. Of course, my experience with doppler also is something that I consider good mostly because when we migrated our secrets from .env files to doppler it was an easy implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don´t like two things: The first one it is in our case that we have three environments. For some secrets, they have the same value in all environments and doesn´t have an option to "triplicate" the secre value for all these environment. I have to do this manually.

The other thing that I miss it is a feature that says how many times some secret was used, because sometimes alongside with a refactory, maybe we can change something that is related to a secret, like we can delete a secret and it become obsolete. For some miss attention, the dev could forgot to delete the secret, and it will load unnecessarily. If there is a feature that tells how many times a secret was used with a date filter, or better, if there is a notification saying that a secret is not being used, that would be cool. A nice to have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves the secret management, it is easier to deal with all secrets because all of them are in doppler.

Secure sailing with no upkeep

  • March 04, 2024

What do you like best about the product?
Our team required a secure platform for managing secrets. After an extensive search and effort to secure trial versions, we evaluated Doppler. We began with their development plan during our dev phase and have decided to upgrade to the team plan for our production launch. Doppler's clear pricing structure and the accessibility of their API, even in the Free plan, made it an easy choice. No meetings to get access/trials, just signup and go. Also, the next competitor was significantly more expensive, literally 1,012% more expensive (yes, one thousand.)

The VS Code extension makes dev life much more enjoyable. Doppler is a great pick over Hashicorp Vault if you're looking to focus on your product and not worry about tool upkeep.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would improvment for the VS Code extension would be to also list the Environment Name (pretty slug name from the web gui) as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stores secrets securely in a fully managed tool.

Doppler deprecates local .env files

  • February 11, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That my team doesn't need to store sensitive data on their local machines anymore. I also really like the access logs, giving insight into who does what.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation contains some errors. It required some trial and error to get started.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Removes the need for local env files.
We can also switch between machines more easily, and pull the latest version of the project secrets.
Smaller conveniences are also helpful, like Doppler pointing out when two project configs are out of sync.
