Work experience
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to implement and integrate with other technologies.
What do you dislike about the product?
How slow and cumbersome it is, in addition to its lack of a tool that manages it effectively and not based on Eclipse.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The entire database system set up in the public administration is based on DB2, which has benefits such as its reliability in terms of system crashes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In my company, the migration to Oracle is being carried out, so I would not recommend it because it is not a current technology.
DBA
What do you like best about the product?
documentation quite thorough and systematic
What do you dislike about the product?
mainframe oriented no GUI from PC to easily access product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A relational DB for data
Very comparable to SQL Server but not the best
What do you like best about the product?
In my opinion Oracle is the best. It supports the most programming languages and has the best features. Db2 is the next best thing. It’s useful across all ibm host environments. Companies with an ibm mainframe often use db2.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does t have map reductio pin or immediate consistency like sql and oracle do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Don’t have any problems other than small integration issues which would persist on all databases
Yes! My favourite DB!
What do you like best about the product?
Oh man, I got bored of mysql and this was a brand new light to our lifes.
This made our work way easier with our data bases. The graphs are gold.

What do you dislike about the product?

What else can i say, would be much easier to implement that
What else can i say, would be much easier to implement that
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Banking and websites, but mostly banking.
Recommendations to others considering the product:

Not the best option
What do you like best about the product?
I like a lot the support that it has, all the users that have been using it and purpossing challenges and all variety of solutions that you can use. Overall of this i like his security and the backup recovery. It is esasy to learn it and in a few time you could be working with this.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that they are losing in the market vs Microsoft, but Microsoft is doing it very well. I think that IBM should get advance of them being updated using all the new technologies and get not stagnate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm working for a University departament building an app, and it fits exactly what we need for this, but even more I'm receiving work to use SQL Server, so every time I use it less.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If they don't update his software, they will lose the market vs Microsoft making almost impossible consider it like an option to work
DB2 since 1992
What do you like best about the product?
DB2 has a graphical monitor that allows you to observe the execution time of an SQL statement and correct details to improve performance.
It allows managing both conventional relational data and XML data without the need for transformation, a capability that is unique in the market.

What do you dislike about the product?
Slowness in creating and executing queries. It uses a lot of RAM for installations and software usage. DB2 has a high economic cost for personal licenses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows to speed up the response time of a query
Retrieval using index-only access.
Correlated predicates.
It has summary tables, replicated tables, hash joins, and uses a combination of external security and internal access control to protect data.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is undoubtedly one of the best databases.
The most reliable sql
What do you like best about the product?
It's very well integrated in mainframe. Unexpendable to coding for banks and big companies.
What do you dislike about the product?
Outdated interface, but it's integrated on mainframe so it's ok.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing big amount of data for banks and any type of companies.
IBM DB2 'was' good
What do you like best about the product?
IBM DB2 is a fast database manager that allows multi-platform integration. It has a massive scalability, as well as a continuous availability in case any issue arise. Trust is what it offers.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is becoming an outdated technology, as most of the IBM techs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working with an AS400, which has DB2 integrated. The problems solved are the integration with multiple external services through a well documented API.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fast and scalable, but there may be better options in the market.
Amazing database language by IBM
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the way it has a different syntax than the traditional RDMS SQL. For ex: In order to create an alias for a table name, you have to write a query separately with "create alias aliasname for table name" instead of a traditional table name alias name syntax.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to put to use especially when you are building applications in a specific company IDE. What I mean to say is if you are working with Visual Studio, it's better to write queries in SQL Server Management Studio due to its ease of SQL Server storage on cloud and interaction.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am an IBM certified DB2 Associate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Must go for it if you are using IBM tools and Team Management systems like Lotus Notes or Rational Team Concert.
the company db
What do you like best about the product?
security, reliability, DRDA access in all platforms
What do you dislike about the product?
for the mainframe component, probably the overhead
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
all probleems regarding the data base company
