Robust ETL Solutions with Some Workflow Hurdles
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the ease of use of the FME Platform and the update process that keeps it up to date. The Form tool allows for easy-to-use transformers and data flow, and the Flow platform provides scheduling and notifications. Form is the desktop tool I use to build integrations, and Flow is the server tool that handles the scheduling and allows the built solutions to run without supervision. Leveraging FME provides more functionality and customization for integrating systems into a tech stack.
What do you dislike about the product?
The desktop tool needs work on authentication with services or consolidating the way systems can authenticate. With Flow, it needs improvements in logging, notifications, system admin tools, and integration with organizations. The way to view log files needs work when diagnosing problems. Notifications for either workspace related notifications or system notifications need enhancements. The system admin tools create more overhead when trying to restrict user permissions appropriately, and adding FME Flow into an organization usually keeps it in a VM with little interactions with the systems or IT team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I rely on the FME Platform to build, deploy, and monitor ETL solutions for clients, enhancing system connectivity, functionality, and customization within their tech stacks.
Automates Tasks, Enhances Workflow Efficiency
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how FME Platform integrates with other systems to ensure a smart workflow. It connects with cloud services, Excel, databases, and more, making the whole process of data input, export, and validation automated. The seamless data exchange across all systems via integration reduces the need for manual data entry and exchange. It's also easy and straightforward to set up, which I appreciate.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing should be revised and made more favorable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use FME Platform to automate repetitive tasks, saving precious time and effort in manual data input, which boosts productivity. It integrates seamlessly with cloud services and Excel, automating data processes, enhancing workflow, and simplifying data exchange across all systems.

The Swiss Army Knife of Software—Powerful, User-Friendly, and Versatile
What do you like best about the product?
The usability of the platform is fantastic. It's relatively easy for something without and FME skill to hop in and work their through simple workflows, yet it still powerful enough for the advanced users.

What do you dislike about the product?
Little to no downsides, however the cost for a simple desktop license for simple tasks may be too high for some organizations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We deal with a lot of client data (LiDAR, orthos, record drawings, etc.) and having a platform that we can easily process the data from one format to another with a click of a button on a workbench has saved hundreds of hours (and $) of analyst time.

FME makes complex data tasks feel much easier!
What do you like best about the product?
I like how FME handles messy data without any struggle. I can pull information from different places and clean it in one flow which saves a lot of time. The visual layout helps me understand each step so even tough workflows feel manageable. It also runs stable when I process large files and that gives me confidence while working.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some transformers feel hidden and I spend time searching for the right one. The interface can feel heavy on older systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to convert data formats and automate repetitive jobs so I don’t need to do everything manually. Earlier I used different tools for each format but now I run it all in one workflow. It reduces mistakes and helps me deliver cleaner outputs faster especially when dealing with GIS and large spreadsheet files.

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate FME Platform for being the most accessible and cutting-edge training and teaching platform available. It provides tremendous value due to its training capabilities, enabling me to stay on the cutting edge of ESRI AI and FME AI while working from home as a contractor. The platform allows seamless integration with ESRI technologies and is instrumental in advancing my skills in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) for geoprocessing tools. The ability to access STRIGO VM labs, virtual machines, and setups alongside tutorials and live training enhances my learning experience. I'm particularly impressed with how it integrates FME Form and Flow into advanced courses, keeping me connected and advancing in areas of interest like Flow and automation. Additionally, my experience with FME Platform has been smooth, with no install problems, whether on my machine or on virtual machines for state and Federal government clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could access an ESRI pass or credentials to fully engage with the tutorials, as lacking an organization login limits my ability to advance a license for AI and Utility Network interoperability.

I use FME Platform for seamless workflow automation and integration with ML and DL tools, accessing cutting-edge training from home which helps me stay updated and gain skills in ESRI AI.
Empowering Data Integration and Access with FME Form
What do you like best about the product?
FME Form excels with on-premise data integration; an excellent extract-transform-load (ETL) tool that helps me get data out of departmental silos in my organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not experienced any downside in using FME Form.

Data access equity is increasingly becoming a reality among organization members, as I leverage FME Form that really makes a difference in bringing disparate datasets together for optimal decision-making.

I find the FME Platform incredibly beneficial due to its visual programming interface, which enhances usability by allowing users to construct more complex scripts with ease. This not only helps in handling data quality issues but also in creating replicable scripts that can be shared. The platform offers a wealth of tools and supports a wide variety of data formats, greatly enhancing its applicability and flexibility for data preparation, analysis, and ETL processes. FME Platform stands out for its user-friendly nature, which is a significant advantage for companies aiming to enable their teams to handle intricate data tasks without excessive learning curves. The transition to FME from Applications Manager was motivated by its superior security features, easier use, and broader format compatibility, which collectively offer a robust solution for our data management needs. Furthermore, the initial setup of FME Platform was very easy, underscoring its commitment to accessibility right from the start.

I find FME Flow to be quite complex, which makes it inherently difficult to learn. This complexity can present challenges in navigating and understanding the software.

I use FME Platform for ETL, data preparation, and analysis, solving data quality issues and enabling replicable scripts. Its ease of use, wide format support, and robust security enhance efficiency and make complex scripting accessible.
