Fastest way to test API endpoints

  • February 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easily organize many APIs and their endpoints, the ability to use placeholders and set environments, automatic prettifying JSON (input). Good support for different types of authentication, very clean UI, just works very efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
Rendering large JSON responses can get a bit slow, no numbering of JSON items in a list when collapsing (no easy way to see e.g. number of items in response).

Sharing with team members is a paid feature.

The editor to add documentation is limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to quickly test API endpoints with different settings & environments.
Document how to use APIs and individual endpoints.

The one and only option for api securty testing

  • February 20, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are lots of tools for api testing, but none of them provide integration for proxy and more collaboration-based functions, like the ability to export all collections to JSON and import other collections. They have really good user-friendly interfaces, and the best thing I feel is pre-request scripts. Pre-request scripts are really helpful for me as a pentester.
What do you dislike about the product?
When we try to import a large collection, most of the time it will crash if you have low specs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Shearing API endpoints, knowledge and requests from the development team to the security team will be kind of hard if post-man doesn't exist. and getting the requests in burpsutes( a testing application) will never happen without  postman proxy.

Lightweight API client to create different API requests

  • January 06, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Postman is a very simplified tool to execute API requests and their different operations like GET, PUT and POST. It is very easy to install and also learn, even for a new user. We use it almost thrice a week to execute different REST and SOAP APIs using JSON and XML request formats, and then validate the responses.
What do you dislike about the product?
Now, Postman has made its services chargeable, with licenses, if you want to save the existing requests in workspaces. So, that is one issue. Other than that, rest everything is fine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Postman is a very good tool to accomplish API request and response validations. Moreover, this also helps in testing API automation, with tools like Selenium to verify if the API endpoint is returning correct values or not. Instead of worrying about the slow load of front-end applications, it is easier to just validate the backend services of APIs using Postman, hence that saves a lot of time and effort.

A highly stable solution with an easy initial setup phase

  • December 19, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Postman in my company for API testing.

What is most valuable?

Postman has a lot of additional features like the ones offered by SwaggerHub. Postman is a bit more complicated compared to SwaggerHub since you have to insert bearer tokens all the time and set everything from the start. I mainly use SwaggerHub as it is easy for me. I always get back to SwaggerHub from Postman.

What needs improvement?

Postman is a bit more of a complex tool, making it an area where improvements can be made.

Postman is good the way it is right now, so there's nothing to change in it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Postman for a year. My company is a customer of the product.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

In my company, over 50 employees use Postman.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Given an opportunity, I would prefer to use Postman over SwaggerHub. People mostly prefer to use SwaggerHub over Postman.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was easy and not difficult.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend others to use Postman. I am a QA, and I should know about different products before I use Postman. In short, a person should know to use it.

I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.
