Slow to create stuff
What do you like best about the product?
The lead time in creating the reports is not that great but overall it a good enterprise solution
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow, expensive compared to Tableau, too much administration
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Writeback is really helpful. Cloud integration with AWS is good.
enterprise level BI resolution
What do you like best about the product?
provide scalability and better performance for large enterprise. keeping up with what's hot in the market. great tech support experience

certain tasks has to be done in multiple tools. would like to have a simplified solution
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
deliver enterprise solution to our large base active user groups with flexible security options at many levels. Internationality of translation also makes it possible to deploy to other markets
Unrivaled enterprise performance
What do you like best about the product?
MicroStrategy is built to handle high traffic volumes with scalable performance better than any other BI tool we've tried. It's also the only tool the elegantly handles internationalization and localization without having to replicate an application.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the tools that should have parity do not, making it necessary to use multiple tools to accomplish a task. This is just an odd quirk that I think most any platform could have, but it a point of frustration (development tools specifically)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pixel perfect, managed application providing cirical services to our field leaders, enabling them to manager their business and achieve year over year gains in profitablility.

Security layers for different end users make life a little difficult

Business efficency
Free version is great. Server version is not cheap

can be buggy (ok, it is buggy). MSTR seems a little more intersted in new features over stability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for general business reporting (Finance, HR, Procurement). We will be using it for more operation stuff soon.
Extremely Flexible and Powerful Platform
What do you like best about the product?
Connectivity to all major Databases and data sources.
Ability to custom adjust SQL parameters.

Multiple ways to achieve the same objective can be overwhelming to beginners / novice users.

Great anaytics tool with cool visualizations
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to present directly from MSTR while making it look like a data genious
What do you dislike about the product?
exporting to pdf from a visualization can distort your view. I always have to take a screenshot to keep the visualization shape

there are data size limitations when creating mapping visualizations
Tool that does way more than you would ever think to do
What do you like best about the product?
There are so many different interfaces that let users of different skill levels and technical abilities acces the platform. The education resources available are immense and have been really helpful in self-teaching.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool is incredibly vast, and as a small organization, it has been difficult for us to keep pace with updates and changes. The community forums are also a little clunky and the posts are often pretty outdated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've set up a point of truth for reporting company wide. CRM, finance and other source systems all feed into Microstrategy which allows us to report company-wide in a manner with consistent data and formatting.
Great, but Dossiers need improvements
What do you like best about the product?
It is a solid tool that has a great open architecure. They have made great strides in the upgrades. It is a very modern tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dossiers need more functionality to bring it in line with the Document tool and other competitors like Tableau. Hyperintelligence seems kinda gimmicky, but has a cool potential if there were more visualization options.

We use MicroStrategy for all of reporting across all business units.

Attend the jumpstart class to really understand how the product works
Learn a lot and share with others

I really liked the classes. There was a lot of people that knew what they were talking about. The venue is pretty awesome, and I"m looking forward to the party. There is just a lot of good content to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some instructors that don't seem super interested in what they are presenting about.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The things that are being solved with Microstrategy are the ability to look into our companies data and get direction off of it. It creates a central location for people to build reports and dossiers and what not, that then can be used in the field through their logins. What we on our team have been able to do is create dossiers to monitor how analysts in our company are using Microstrategy through the Platform Analytics. This can be used my managers to see what analysts are building, and can be used by us to be able to see how the system is preforming and if its not preforming well then we can adjust things and kill jobs if we need to.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There will be some learning curve that is for sure. There are a lot of people out there that use Tableua and they might have a hard time converting over. Just have patience with it and move forward.
