Best in class BI
What do you like best about the product?
Easy of use, speed of implementation. SQL friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Upfront cost in the beginning, but Microstrategy Desktop can help in this.

Planning and market analysis
I am a full-stack MSTR user. Admin, Analyst, Developer, Architect.
What do you like best about the product?
Creating attributes in order to create reports, which allows me to create dashboards using both.
What do you dislike about the product?
Login process on Mobile app for more than one project. We should be able to login, THEN see our available projects, not to see all projects then login.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Food quality assurance. Hardware set point management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be careful if wanting to use this specifically for multiple projects using Mobile devices. When you have more than one project on Mobile, the app shows all projects then you login and authenticate to what you are allowed to view. Should really have you login, then see your authenticated projects.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is its improvement regarding self-service.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I like least is the complexity with which the reports are formatted; it's not too obvious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many problems have been resolved in general.
It's been tough to implement (switching from SSAS) but is definitely feature rich.
What do you like best about the product?
Virtually every element is configurable. The SQL Engine is quite robust and efficient. The availability of a web API for total customization is invaluable.
What do you dislike about the product?
The endless configuration options are as much a detriment as a feature. There always seems to be some check-box that we forgot to check to get something as simple as sub-totaling to work correctly. Additionally, the support is abysmal and while there appears to be a vast community of users online everyone seems to be on older versions that are quite different than the current/latest version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking to add a platform for interactive dashboards and self service reporting. Still working on implementation so no benefits have been realized yet.

What do you dislike about the product?
- For power users, ad hoc reporting is sometimes hard, because they find it difficult to understand how MicroStrategy chooses the tables and joins to include in the queries.

We have developed a full fledged BI solution covering all areas of an insurance business:

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Every BI platform has a different kind of logic to it. Do not try to replicate what you have in your platform if you are migrating from another BI platform. Instead, optimize using MicroStrategy's strength.

What do you like best about the product?
The new license model now provides easy access to powerful analytics functionality for smaller businesses, too. The combination of easy-to-use frontend features and well-maintainable administrative features ist unique in the market.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are still two different IDEs for report and document developement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anything between classical E-Commerce analysis and advanced logistics and supply chain predictions.

Make use of all the administrative tools.

Technical support rarely respects SLA, they are completely understaffed.

SQM. Which means, dashboards showing the performance and state of all networks of our Telco clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are on a hurry developing, you need to be certified. Technical support is slow, understaffed and a simple question may take 3 months.
MicroStrategy Provides Powerful Analysis
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to quickly put together a project that allows users to have great insight to their data in order to make improved decisions. It supports many data sources and can handle complex analysis. I like that the applications can be customized to user type - from casual user that just needs basic information to an advanced analyst that wants to build their own reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
I like most everything - I think there remains improvement that could be done in the area of data visualization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used MicroStrategy to solve problems in many industries including Retail, Telecommunications and CPG. Currently I'm working on applications that provide trends of sales and inventory and also calculate shrink. Profit improvement is realized by helping retailers reduce shrink on products that have a short shelf life.

Do a trial and I think you'll see that it can meet or exceed your expectations.
Best, easy to use BI solution
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use, enterprise scalability and flexibility to adapt with various databases/lakes is what catches a practice head like me. The solution sold well mainly because of ease of getting started
What do you dislike about the product?
The development part of Microstrategy could be a little more business user friendly. The validation parts also need some tune up so non technical users can use them
