Amazing Product with Better Support
What do you like best about the product?
The product itself is very intuitive. At the beginning of our implementation, we were easily able to begin on our own with minimal help from the support team as the integrations that are pre-built and the workflow connectors worked fantastic for our tech stack, so getting assets into our system was simple and fast. The actual application itself is extremely user-friendly once you understand the base terminology and their self-help guides are phenomenal, especially when it comes to API work. The application allows for easy creation of new custom Meta-Data, which is something we desperately needed and has been such an immense benefit for truly putting our company terminology and end-user needs into the product, making it truly relevant in the ways that we need for our data. The ability to have both direct integrations to Jira (which we utilize the Jira Service Desk for our IT service desk tickets) and the ability to add Confluence resources to Assets allow Atlan to fully integrate into our infrastructure.
Most of all, however, is the overall support that Atlan has given us. Whether it be through a great sales process, fantastic engagement during initial application creation/integration to our Assets, or now fully supporting us with any questions, however large or small, is the best we have had with any software vendor.

What do you dislike about the product?
We are currently going through an architecture conversion and while the integrations with some of the newer cloud technologies are great, some of the older tech stack components do not have all the bells and whistles (for example the MySQL Aurora Connector doesn't have native lineage for Procedures). Additionally, there are some limitations to the bulk upload and what may be updated, but support has been a great workaround for when these come up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently, we have a real lack of Business Users and IT having common terminology for Metrics or Terms that are related to Data. Atlan is allowing us to standardize these, which in turn will immensely alleviate our support when it comes to Data/Report requests as these misunderstandings consistently cause issues with intent vs. what is delivered. We have also been looking for a solution for truly understanding our data, where it comes from, how it is transformed, and where it is being delivered. The multiple integrations from S3 buckets to Redshift, this is allowing us to visualize and understand this.

Good support and a nice onboarding. Great user experience.
What do you like best about the product?
Collaboration between different stakeholders. An easy and quick way to find any data asset from many sources. Understand the data lineage. Support resolutive and fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the begging of the implementation and usage of the platform, the team found several bugs that we needed to fix as soon as possible to continue with the operation. In Atlan (the one we are currently using) policies feature has some limitations regarding the type of assets that could be included in the policy. (just one type of asset per policy)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understand the context of our data assets. Find any data asset quickly. Facilitate the collaboration between data and business users.
Atlan enabled data democratisation for us and reduced the dependency on the data engineering team.

Atlan helped us democratise the data. We, the data team, receive a huge number of requests from teams across the organisation. Atlan helped us put the data in their hands enabled them to be independent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like every product in the market, Atlan is not yet complete. There are many features that are yet to be developed that will bring more value to the users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves the issue of data democratisation, thereby reducing the load on our data engineering team. Now our engineering team can perform more meaningful tasks than just operating as a data support team.

What do you like best about the product?
We are in a meta data overload, this became more spreadsheet after spreadsheet. We chosed Atlan after a quick demo, the ease of cross-functional data collection because ease, most importantly secure!
What do you dislike about the product?
a) There is limitions in 3rd party integration, it needs to be improved!
b) The software is not quick to understand, on-boarding can be often tough for new employees!

We had scatted data all over place, data managed wasnt well managed, if there is an inquiry request made,our developer would take atleast 3 days to give the result, that's not a problem anymore with Atlan.

What do you like best about the product?
Amazing tool. The team at Atlan is data-obsessed and it shows. Massively helps with data governance and break down data as needed for a larger audience to easily study the data. Pricing is well placed and the service is outstanding
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing I can specifically think of. Young product, in a niche space, so explaining the problem they're solving can become cumbersome and for purchase, since there is a limited option out there it becomes that much more difficult

Helping break down large sets of data across the organization and make them readable, insightful and actionable. Also, helps with data governance and pass on information between teams efficiently

This tool went from "sweet spot of value proposition and very competitive with awesome customer experience" to
"This is hands down the best solution for data governance".
In the last two years, I've seen so much growth with constantly new and useful functionality that now my actual view of the tool changed, to me this tool is a "must-have" for a successful data warehouse, it not only helps to solve the data governance challenge but also servers other painpoints, a simple example is the lineage, for my use case it is so well built that I can drastically reduce time for doing impact analysis before changing any DB objects.
I could give a lot more examples but the most remarkable fact to me is that they never lost their track, with the glossary of terms, approval system, navigation experience and linked resources, they really nailed the solution for the classic data governance any Data Warehouse has these days and on top of that they never lost impeccable customer support.

I only regret I didn't find this tool before.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This software nails data governance and can do lineage from Tableau to your Data Warehouse and if you are on ELT, it does crawl solutions like Fivetran so now you can have FULL lineage to your very source tables from your OLTP DB. We are pretty happy with the results because the features offered not only addressed our primary needs, you can use it for many other things, the user experience is awesome, and the customer service is outstanding.
