The Only Active Metadata Platform Needed
What do you like best about the product?
The User Experience, Customer Support, Existing Features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nowhere on the platform can we see how one can get things done with in organization with largely distributed teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps data consumers understand data very easily and quickly; for teams, it helps a lot in onboarding new team members easily and quickly. It helps a lot in DataOps and Data Management.
Atlan is a useful metadata dictionary
What do you like best about the product?
I like the features it has w.r.t. lineage and data quality checks; as well as the integration with dbt. I love the responsiveness of the team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The separate UI becomes unmanageable over time unless governance standards are not imposed, and it is a bit disconnected from the data production cycle because it is away from the code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Atlan is solving issues with metadata management, data quality and discoverability.
Data Catalog
What do you like best about the product?
Finally, we can store together the definitions of business terms and the way of calculating them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not see any downsides. It may require additional work to organize your projects, but this worse your efforts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Atlan helps to understand our data and business metrics. We keep business terms definitions along with data and rules (SQL) how to calculate them.
Great to work with
What do you like best about the product?
The Atlan team provide us with a lot of support to ensure we get the most from the tool. It's very user friendly and highly intuitive - quick to get going with and feature packed (that eventually we will progress to using)
What do you dislike about the product?
We have found a couple of limitations - data access controls is the biggest one that doesn't match with our companies regulations (so this is one area we aren't able to make use of)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The driver to get Atlan into the enterprise was to create a data catalogue - enabling both business and IT to be aware of our data landscape and to work together to increase and share knowledge. We are gradually moving into this space - so we haven't yet been able to fully use all the features that Atlan offers . but we are working with our 'success manager' to push us forwards.

The usability of the tool, makes searching easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI of the search results, returns a bunch of things/
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using atlan makes it easy to understand what a column in the table means. It is also wonderful to see the auto-filled options. It helped reduce the time taken to reply to the queries of the business users.
Best modern data catalog tool and home to data teams
What do you like best about the product?
Atlan was created by data engineers for data engineers. Utilizing Atlan's integration with Reshift, Aurora and Tableau provided us with rich data and metadata insight, allowed for a super fast impact analysis using lineage, and eliminated the need to document data changes manually. Atlan allowed us to create a centralized place for business analysts to find information about company data, definitions and metrics, glossary, and project documentation. The interface is simple and very intuitive, so minimal training is required. Atlan is excellent as an onboarding tool for business and data people alike. Their APIs are easy to use and well-documented, and Google-like search makes finding data assets easy. All these features provided immense value to our users. Overall, Atlan has drastically reduced our workload in organizing data and metadata as a single source of truth. And lastly (and most importantly), Atlan has outstanding customer service; it has been with us every step of the way during the initial implementation and continues to support us with adopting the tool. They listen to their customers and address any issues very quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing to dislike about Atlan, as the business specifics drive some of our challenges.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Atlan helped us democratize our data. The data team receives many requests from business teams across the organization. Atlan helped us put the data in their hands, enabling them to be independent.
Atlan also became a true home for the data team, increasing our productivity by reducing the time needed for impact analysis, training and onboarding

Perfect metadata platform for all your data cataloging needs
What do you like best about the product?
We have a complex architecture, and Atlan team has been a support for us throughout. It makes interacting with data metadata relatively simple for all the teams. The search engine that allows users to find any asset within seconds is very beneficial.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing specific to dislike, some integrations like MS Teams, Service Now, can be further beneficial as it can add value to the overall product, but the team has been very positive about this feedback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its helping in connecting different teams together on a single platform. The platform is also helping in ensuring that metadata is freely accessible and not in silos.

Metadata Management
What do you like best about the product?
Atlan reduces the time developers spend understanding context of their data assets. It gives data producers a platform to document and a place for consumers to learn and understand data. The platform is intuitive and integrates with our existing application ecosystem.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Atlan. One downside of the product is switching from your data model, database, or BI layer to the Atlan UI to get more information about the data. Having Atlan embedded within the BI layer would be helpful and is already being worked on/available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Reduces time developers spend understanding context of data - this allows us to generate more meaningful ETL more quickly and allows us to have a better handle of our data assets
- Allows consumers to get closer to the data and understand it more easily with data definitions, query preview, glossaries, etc - this allows requirements to be more specific
